Chapter 6 Part 6: First Day

“Th, this is it. This is where the boss lives.”

“Are you sure?”

“Y, yes. Of course. Of course.”

“Okay. Good job.”

“Pardon? What does…”

Before the guy turned around, I pointed the gun at the back of his head and pulled the trigger.

As a matter of course, the guy, who had no means of bouncing bullets like me, could not stop the bullet that was flying towards his head, breaking through the speed of sound, and collapsed in vain.

Thud.

I stroked the revolver with satisfaction, not caring about the guy collapsing.

Not bad. I can use it for a while.

“Weren’t you going to spare me…?”

“Why would I? I never said I would spare you.”

“…”

The reason why I spared the guys who came to Haran’s house was because I was considerate of her.

I can’t have someone who showed me kindness being targeted by strange guys because of me.

I should at least not repay kindness with enmity.

I thought it would be okay to kill them because they were already messed up a lot, but I only didn’t kill them because Haran asked me for mercy.

I also thought that I didn’t need to get blood on my hands already when I had to start a new life in the Awakened Association or something.

But that’s not the situation now, is it?

For whatever reason, Haran is on the same boat with me, and she’s in a situation where she’s properly at odds with the public power of this world.

Then it doesn’t matter if I do whatever I want.

There was no need to keep this guy alive and create unnecessary risks.

Anyway, they’re guys who are active in this kind of organization. Literally trash that is disconnected from society.

There was no need to keep those guys alive.

“Let’s talk about such useless stories later. They’ll be coming soon.”

“Co, coming? Who?”

“This guy’s colleagues. They’ll be coming because they heard the gunshot just now.”

“ot.”

“Hey, is anyone there? What’s going on?”

“See?”

How come it doesn’t deviate from my expectations at all?

It’s not good if it deviates from my expectations, but the difference in combat power is so severe that I feel like I’m doing repetitive work, so I wanted them to show a slightly different reaction.

I felt like I was going to die of boredom.

“Hello.”

“What…! O, our maknae! How dare you make our maknae look like that! I won’t forgive you…!”

“You’re talking too long for no reason.”

Tang.

I made a hole in the head of the guy who was rushing at me to avenge the maknae, just like the maknae.

I’ve always wondered, why do criminal organizations pretend to be good with each other, calling each other hyung and dongsaeng?

They’re not family in the first place, and they’re not guys who gathered because they were close in the first place.

They say that they had no choice but to attack guys other than their colleagues to make a living, but when their colleagues are attacked, they come to retaliate, saying that their brothers were attacked, which is absurd.

Even if I somehow understand that there are people who are close even if there is no special relationship, these guys are criminals, right?

What’s so good about those guys that they do that to each other.

Well, are they feeling comforted and self-justified by licking each other’s wounds?

Maybe it’s because I’ve seen so many cases where infighting broke out and they killed the guys who were calling each other hyung and dongsaeng until the day before.

I couldn’t understand the actions of those guys at all.

“Let’s go in, Haran. It’s going to be our office from now on, so take a good look around.”

“Ye, yes…!”

I glanced at Haran and smiled.

…I like her more than I thought?

I was worried that she would say something about killing people when I showed mercy to strangers, but it seemed that she wasn’t that kind of person.

Well, I saw her house and it wasn’t a proper place.

It wouldn’t be strange even if she was used to a few people dying.

She’s pretty, but seeing her survive in that place, I guess she’s experienced a lot of things she shouldn’t have seen.

At least she wasn’t unfamiliar with corpses.

If that wasn’t the case, there’s no way she wouldn’t panic when someone died in front of her like this.

I was amazed that a person who had gone through such things still had the heart to help people.

“Aaaak!”

“Heok…!”

Tang, tang, tang.

I was leisurely moving my feet inside the building that would be used as an office, chatting with Haran about trivial things.

But unlike my leisurely pace, my hands were moving busily, testing the performance of the revolver I had seized.

Maybe it was because their colleagues went out and gunshots were heard. They hid themselves and tried to launch a surprise attack, convinced that it was an enemy invasion. I could tell that these guys weren’t idiots from that…

But that didn’t really change anything.

The eyes of this body, which was made to cope with any situation, can very easily see what actions the surrounding enemies are taking through various sensors.

I usually turn it off because it’s uncomfortable, but it’s a very useful function when a fight like this breaks out.

“Die! …Keuak!”

“Crazy, the gun doesn’t work! F*ck! Hey, bring the shotgun!”

“Ye, yes…! Aaaak!”

“F*ck, nothing works!”

Like this, I can attack the guys who were trying to launch a surprise attack first.

Whenever I give lead bullets as a gift to the guys who were trying to launch a surprise attack, I always feel that the most dangerous time for a person is when they hide to launch a surprise attack.

I’ll attack when I get here. I’ll attack when I get the signal.

When those thoughts dominate the brain, all the nerves are concentrated on the surprise attack, so the moment an unexpected situation occurs, it collapses in an instant.

The power of the legs, which have been fully contracted to jump out in an instant, is prepared only to spring out in one direction.

Even if you recognize the unexpected situation and try to cope as quickly as possible, your body cannot do that.

And if you try to move that body by force, a backlash will inevitably come.

“F*ck! My legs… Keok!”

“Oh my. I told you not to be so nervous?”

It is almost impossible for a leg in an extremely contracted state to move in order to cope with an unexpected situation that occurred in an instant.

If you over-tighten your whole body for a perfect hit… cramps are likely to occur in your legs like that.

There were often cases where this happened when moving muscles in a different direction than the originally intended purpose.

The newbies mainly died like that.

It was a little sad that they died without knowing the basics, but well.

It’s not like it’s one or two people who die unfairly like that.

It would have been good to tell them that story, but no one, including me, told the newbies that story.

Why?

Because it’s obvious that they won’t listen even if I tell them. The guy who’s going to die will die no matter what he does, and the guy who’s going to live will survive no matter what he does.

Once you experience the death of a guy who you were eating with just a moment ago due to one of those stupid mistakes, you’ll vow never to do that again, so in a way, it was extremely efficient.

One life for one lesson is cheap.

“It’s too bland than I thought?”

“Th, that’s because Ella is strong…”

“No. They’re really weak. To the point where you can win even if you fight. You know that too, right?”

There was no such thing as a seemingly good device that measures the strength of the opponent.

However, even without such a thing, I could easily realize that Haran was stronger than those guys.

As if my guess that she had lived quite a rough life was not wrong, Haran’s gaze, which had entered the building, was moving around.

She seemed to know the location where those guys were hiding well.

“Are those guys really the guys who are in charge of this area? No matter how I look at it, they’re just small fries strutting around in their own area.”

“They are.”

“That sounds like there’s someone who isn’t?”

“…There’s one person. Otherwise, who would be watching those trash strut around like that?”

With an angry voice, Haran poured out her anger towards those guys.

“The person at the very top of them is a B-grade awakened person.”

“Ah, that person you mentioned earlier? If they’re B-grade, they’re the same grade as that sissy.”

“That’s right. You might not know it well because Ella killed him easily, but B-grade awakened people are a disaster for ordinary people, as well as low-grade awakened people like me.”

“Why?”

“It means that they are people who can close the gate on their own. No matter what the scale, it’s difficult to close the gate alone.”

“Hmm.”

“That’s why that person, trusting in his power, was gathering trash around him and oppressing the people in this neighborhood. Brothels, black markets…… He was putting everything that could make money under his control.”

Biting her lip as if she was upset, Haran looked at the top with hatred, not hiding her animosity towards him.

“Public power is lenient with high-ranking awakened people.”

“Is it because the fact that they can close the gate alone is a valuable workforce?”

“That’s right. Even if they commit a crime, they pretend not to know, or if they have no choice but to punish them, they lower the sentence as much as possible.”

“So, you hate those guys?”

“Would I like them? They’re only doing well for themselves while tormenting innocent people like that.”

“…Ah, really. I like you more and more.”

“Pardon?”

Among the people I’ve met recently, no.

This was the first time I had such a good first impression in my life.

She’s the perfect person for the office we’re going to set up.

I looked up at the 2nd floor, which I had confirmed through the sensor a while ago.

As if to prove that there was a person, the silhouette of a guy sitting in an arrogant posture was clearly visible on the 2nd floor.

Maybe that guy is the B-grade awakened person that Haran mentioned.

Judging from his arrogant gestures and the way he was resting comfortably as if nothing had happened even though this much commotion had occurred.

I pointed the gun at the guy’s thigh and said.

“I said I’m a problem solver, right?”

“You did.”

“But I didn’t live by taking on all the requests. I picked the requests. What kind of request do you think I received?”

“…I don’t know.”

“It’s simple.”

Tang.

As I put a hole in the thigh of the guy who was sitting on the chair, the terrible scream of the guy who couldn’t avoid the bullet because he hadn’t expected the unexpected attack echoed.

I didn’t aim for the brain or heart, so he wouldn’t die instantly.

But it would be more terrible than dying instantly.

Because I aimed for the femoral artery, he would be feeling the blood slowly draining out.

The human body is more fragile than I thought, and the thigh is also a sufficiently dangerous place if attacked wrong.

If the artery is damaged, blood will drain out quickly and you will die.

Maybe if I just wait a few minutes, he’ll be a cold corpse. Without knowing who attacked him, who killed him.

After confirming the fate of the unnamed boss, I pointed the revolver alternately at the floor and the ceiling so that Haran could easily understand.

“The job of cleaning up those trash at the bottom, and those trash at the top.”
