Chapter 32: Academy without Choi Juwon [Regret] (3)

Thud thud thud

Everyone trudged along with dark expressions, like cattle being led to the slaughterhouse, heading to Yang Han-gil’s class.

Creeeak

As the door to the magic training hall inside Helmunt Academy opened, Yang Han-gil’s figure came into view.

As soon as he saw the students, he shouted,

“Are you not coming quickly?! Hurry up! From now on, I won’t accommodate your convenience. Shut up and follow my instructions!”

Thud thud thud

The students quickly rushed to stand in front of Yang Han-gil. He looked at each of them with annoyance and said,

“Ha… What’s going on? Not a single one of you has improved since yesterday? Just by sensing the flow of mana, you all seem like garbage. I can’t comprehend how you even got into Helmunt Academy.”

Haah…

Yang Han-gil let out a big sigh.

Then he pointed to a female student.

“Yoon Seul-ki. Step forward.”

“W-What?….”

“Don’t ask foolish questions, just come out quickly.”

Thud thud

As she stepped forward at Yang Han-gil’s command, he immediately cast a spell.

[Gravity]

Bam!

“Kyahhh!”

She screamed as she fell to the ground.

Guuuuuuuuuu

An immense pressure crushed her entire body afterward.

Yang Han-gil looked at her as she lay on the ground and said,

“What should you do when an opponent mage uses Gravity?”

“Keuuuu”

Yang Han-gil coldly spoke to her as she couldn’t say anything due to the pain.

“I told you not to act like a bug, didn’t I? When the opponent uses gravitational magic, you must raise mana throughout your body to protect yourself. Do you understand?”

Hooow

Haah… Haah…

After the Gravity spell was released, Yoon Seul-ki gasped for breath. At that moment, Yang Han-gil continued his incantation.

[Fireball]
[Magic Shield]

Chi-iiik

Yang Han-gil’s Fireball struck Yoon Seul-ki’s body. However, this time Yoon Seul-ki also used Magic Shield to block the attack. Or at least she thought she had.

Crack

“Huh?….”

With a surprised, short scream from Yoon Seul-ki, the Magic Shield shattered, and the spell hit her directly.

“Keuuuugh”

Yoon Seul-ki lay sprawled on the ground, while Yang Han-gil merely stared at her.

“So, you can use a Magic Shield because you call yourself a mage, huh? But that level is so clumsy it’s disgusting. Get lost. I need to assess the level of the other idiots.”

After that, Yang Han-gil used basic magic on several students.

Lightning, Fireball, Wind Cutter—though these were basic spells, the power behind them was significant since Yang Han-gil was an A-rank mage. As a result, students occasionally ended up severely injured.

“B-Blood…”

One student clutched their arm in pain. However, Yang Han-gil paid no attention.

“Bleeding, huh? So what do you want me to do about it? If you get hurt in real combat, are you going to whine and do nothing? If you’re hit, at least cast a recovery spell, or think of a way to solve the problem yourself. Relying on others for help while doing nothing is why you haven’t improved. You’re nothing but garbage.”

“Isn’t this violence, not a class?….”

Lee Ha-ru protested with a trembling voice. Yang Han-gil walked up to her with a smile on his face. Standing in front of her, he spoke with deadpan eyes.

“Lee Ha-ru, each instructor has their own way of teaching. I’m using my mana to teach you pathetic talents who can’t learn through words alone. You call this violence instead of teaching? You little bitch.”

Smack!

Yang Han-gil slapped her cheek.

Thud

“You pathetic idiots. If you could just grow faster, I wouldn’t need to resort to such extreme measures. But since you’re regressing instead of improving, what do you want me to do?”

Yang Han-gil spoke to the fallen Lee Ha-ru.

“Get up.”

She barely pushed herself off the ground on her knees.

Smack!

“Get up.”

Smack!

After being slapped three times, her face had turned red.

“Lee Ha-ru, if this is violence instead of a class, what are you going to do about it? If you’re angry, go tell your illustrious parents. But remember one thing before you do. I’m an instructor at Helmunt Academy and a guild member of the Baal Guild. If you turn against me, just remember how your life will unravel.”

As Yang Han-gil threatened her, Lee Ha-ru trembled and apologized.

“I-I’m sorry.”

Thud

Yang Han-gil kicked Lee Ha-ru.

“Haah… If anyone provokes me again, they’ll know they’re in for it.”

After that, Yang Han-gil continued his magical violence disguised as teaching.

When his mana ran out, the students had to endure several hours of magical bombardment while waiting for it to recharge.

“Haah… Damn it….”

After several hours of class, Yang Han-gil muttered to himself.

“No… This isn’t enough… At this rate, I can’t possibly… If it goes on like this, it’ll really….”

He looked as if he were possessed by a ghost.

The students, fearing they might be caught in the crossfire, didn’t look directly at him and merely turned their heads, clutching the wounds caused by Yang Han-gil’s magic.

“Ughhhh!”

Yang Han-gil yelled out in frustration and spoke to the students.

“Today’s class ends here. Use the remaining time for self-study.”

As Yang Han-gil left the magic training hall, he muttered,

“This isn’t enough… I need another way… Something else….”

Screech

Thud

As soon as Yang Han-gil left, all the students sank to the ground in unison.

“Waaaah!”

“10,000!”

“Damn it….”

Among the students, someone was crying loudly, while another was in pain from their injuries. Others cursed and lamented their situation.

Among them, Kim Si-yeon spoke up.

“It hurts all over. How can he teach like that? This isn’t teaching; it’s violence.”

The other students seemed to share her sentiments. Lee Ha-ru approached her and said,

“Everyone here probably feels the same way… But what can we do? We have no way out.”

Crunch

Kim Si-yeon bit down as if her teeth might break and responded,

“Instructor Choi Juwon has never treated us like that.”

Yoon Seul-ki chimed in as if to answer her.

“We drove him away ourselves… This is all our karma….”

“What are we supposed to do now? The future seems so bleak.”

“I don’t know either… For now, we just have to endure….”

After the students dispersed, Baek Hyun-seo quietly called out to Yoon Seul-ki.

“Uh… Seul-ki, I have something I want to ask you….”

Yoon Seul-ki looked at Baek Hyun-seo, her expression filled with concern.

“Hyun-seo, are you okay? You were hurt a lot earlier, right?”

Baek Hyun-seo forced a bitter smile.

“I’m fine. You know I have a recovery artifact. I can heal up quickly with it.”

“That’s amazing. What kind of artifact is it that you can recover so quickly just by infusing mana?”

“I don’t really know. I only know how to use it; that’s all.”

Yoon Seul-ki looked at Baek Hyun-seo with sad eyes and said,

“That artifact Instructor Choi Juwon gave you must be expensive, right? I also have an artifact that the instructor gave me, and when I showed it to my mother, she was amazed and asked where I got such an expensive thing. Why did the instructor show us so much kindness? When I think about it now, we really haven’t done much for him….”

Yoon Seul-ki wiped her tears with her sleeve and apologized to Baek Hyun-seo.

“I’m sorry. I got overwhelmed with emotion and ended up saying unnecessary things. But didn’t you say you had something you were curious about earlier?”

“Um… Well…”

Baek Hyun-seo hesitated for a moment before continuing.

“Do you happen to have Instructor Choi Juwon’s phone number?”

“I have it, but why do you ask?”

“I just got a new phone. I was thinking of calling the instructor….”
