Chapter 39: Hmm… . Can you please stay…?

Nibrod’s Rivagar, perhaps due to its cold and barren environment, sees very few monsters appearing. However, that doesn’t mean monsters don’t appear at all.

Among them, the fearsome creatures like the giant owl Hresvelgr, which shoots storms of ice crystals from the air, and the wolf Freki, which navigates the rough terrain of Rivagar with ease, are monsters that can feel overwhelming when first encountered.

But conversely, this means that once you get used to their patterns, they become just a nuisance.

**BAM!**

Taking advantage of their weakness, which is their overly linear movements despite their speed, I block their path and slam my warhammer down vertically, taking down Freki first.

Next, I use the fact that Hresvelgr’s movements slow down right after unleashing the storm of crystals to throw the shards lying on the ground back at its body.

**[Kieeeeek?!]**

With an unwelcome screech, the beast falls to the ground. Once that happens, it can do nothing, and I just have to swing my weapon to finish it off.

Unfortunately, neither of the two monsters dropped any rare items. Well, it’s not like the rare items dropped by the monsters in Nibrod are genuinely rare; selling them for a high price is out of the question.

“Hah…”

—Is it possible to finish this today, Lene???

While I let out a sigh of disappointment, the last remaining viewer, Lynel, asked such a question.

There was a feeling of fatigue in the atmosphere of the chat.

But it wasn’t hard to understand. It was now 11:30 PM.

This meant that about 3 hours and 30 minutes had passed since we started our journey to the summit of Rivagar.

However, if my memory serves me correctly, we were still only halfway up Rivagar. In other words, we still needed at least 3 more hours to reach the summit.

“Today… it might be a bit hard to finish within the day. I think we’ll arrive around dawn…”

With my words, sighs erupted around me. Was everyone so eager to end this journey quickly? To be honest, I enjoy moving toward a single goal together like this.

—Is it okay if I just watch and go to bed?

“You’ll appreciate it more later if you follow along live…”

– It’s a bit too much to watch until dawn;

…Didn’t you say you were a home security guard? You have plenty of time…

“Hmm… could you stay with us…?”

ᅳᄉᄇ…

After that exchange, fortunately, Lynel left a message saying they would try to stick around until the end. Well, the other viewers had already promised not to leave midway, so there was no need to mention it.

To be honest, I could sense some complaints building up towards me… but I believe everyone will be satisfied once they see the spectacle.

…However, I honestly didn’t expect the time to drag on like this. When I came alone last time, it took me 4 hours to reach the summit of Rivagar.

So, if 3 hours and 30 minutes have passed, that means I should have been close to the summit by now. Yet, our pace of progress was far too slow.

Of course, it’s natural for time to be delayed when there are as many as 15 people moving at once, but even considering that, it’s at a serious level.

And the cause was the monsters.

In the extreme area of Nibrod, monsters hardly appear.

Especially in a place like Rivagar, it’s even more unlikely.

As evidence, the last time I came alone, I encountered monsters no more than five times before reaching the summit.

But now, including just now, it was already the thirteenth encounter. In other words, it was a probability that I could confidently say was absurd.

“Um, has anyone found some kind of strange device or something…?”

At my question, all the gallery members shook their heads. Well, given that they were shivering from the cold and couldn’t do anything, it was to be expected.

…Could it be that I just happened to hit that absurd probability? With so many people around, maybe the range of activities widened, attracting more monsters.

“…I’m going to start again.”

At my words, everyone nodded, and we took our steps towards the summit of Rivagar once more.

The slope gradually became steeper.

There was no more conversation around us. Up to the midpoint, there had been some chatter, but now everyone seemed genuinely exhausted, only letting out faint white breaths.

Of course, I was hardly to blame, but still, I felt a sense of guilt as I moved forward, one step, two steps, leading the way.

The current viewers of the broadcast were 16. Since the banned user hadn’t returned, it was 16. In other words, it meant there had been no new influx of viewers. Thinking about that fact, this viewer participation content might actually hold no meaning at all.

I was broadcasting solely to make money. But with the viewership not increasing and few donations coming in, this broadcast… could easily be laughed at as meaningless by someone.

However, I had no intention of stopping these steps. Knowing what lay at the end, I was even more determined.

How much time had passed? One second felt like one minute, and one minute felt like one hour. In that stretching time, I took another step.

“…Huh?”

Suddenly, my foot sank deep into the snow.

The steep slope I had felt earlier was no longer perceptible. I ran down the gentle hill with my exhausted body. Since I had experienced this feeling once before, there was no hesitation.

“:ene-nim?”

The gallery members calling me from behind seemed to realize that the slope had flattened and began to pick up their pace one by one.

We ran, ran, and finally reached the end, where we saw:

“Wow.”

A breathtaking view of the earth covered in pure white. And the blue aurora that adorned the sky.

“Wow.”

One person, two people.

The lagging members began to arrive.

And just like the others who arrived earlier, they quietly expressed their admiration.

—Finally!!!!!!

“…How is it? It’s incredibly cool, right?”

—It’s pretty awesome.

“Are you regretting not coming together…?”

—Not really ᄏᄏ

That’s mean.

While giggling at Lyner’s chat,

“Lene, dear.”

“Wh-what?! Uh, yes..?”

Someone placed a hand on my shoulder from behind and called my name.

I turned around in surprise, and there stood the member who had said he wanted to drop out before we set off.

-“Honestly, I really didn’t want to come this far, and I wanted to just run away in the middle.”

“Oh, I see…”

-“…But it really is a wonderful view.”

“Right? Hehe…”

Yeah. After all, sincerity is what connects people.

“Isn’t it nice enough that you’d want to come back and see it again…?”

-“……I don’t think so.”

No, that’s not it.

“You said you’ve been here once before, right? What made you think about coming back here twice…?”

The Lebungi(member) spoke as if he couldn’t understand, but a smile was on his lips.

Just to be sure, I quietly looked around, and everyone else seemed to be smiling with satisfaction.

This must surely leave them with wonderful memories, right?

Of course, including me.

As I thought that and looked at the aurora once more,

[Insignificant creatures, how dare you awaken my slumber!]

It appeared.
