Chapter 13: It was too much money to reject

“Are you not doing design work anymore?”

“I’m planning to focus on broadcasting for now.”

The broadcast ended, and I spent time talking with Jiyeon about various things.

My future plans, Jiyeon’s school life, thoughts on broadcasting, and so on…

It was just everyday talk between us.

I answered each question honestly, but I wasn’t sure how Jiyeon felt about it.

Did she have doubts about her sister’s changed appearance?

But what could I do? This is who I am.

I couldn’t try to imitate Jiyeon’s image, someone I didn’t even know.

Since I had become who I am, I didn’t even want to imitate that.

This is my true self.

After having dinner and doing the broadcast, the outside had already turned dark.

It was time to send Jiyeon home.

But sending a girl alone at this late hour was dangerous.

Jiyeon’s appearance was very beautiful, resembling Ji-eun, so it made her even more of a target.

In this rough world, she could get hurt on the streets at night.

So what were my options left?

I tried to deny the solution that came to my mind.

I knew logically it was the right thing, but for some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to say it.

Letting Jiyeon sleep at my place and sending her off in the morning would solve the problem.

Such a simple thing, but for some reason, it felt strange to suggest it.

Was there still a part of my masculinity left?

As I hesitated, Jiyeon cautiously asked.

“Sis, can I sleep over?”

“Of course, you can stay.”

“Really?”

At her careful question, I replied that it was fine.

No matter how I thought about it, I couldn’t send her out at this hour.

As soon as I gave my permission, Jiyeon seemed to jump with joy, expressing her excitement.

It felt as though it was her first time sleeping over at her sister’s house.

The question I had was answered by Jiyeon’s next words.

“Why are you suddenly letting me stay? You always send me off, saying you want to be alone.”

Ah, the original Ji-eun was quite a cold person.

It seemed like Jiyeon had visited more than once, but was always sent away.

Did that mean she didn’t love her younger sister?

I couldn’t understand.

Naturally, my small one-room apartment didn’t have extra blankets or pillows.

Only the blanket and pillow I used were available.

I planned to let Jiyeon sleep in the bed while I took the chair, but when Jiyeon insisted that we sleep together, I had no choice but to move.

Fortunately, there was a long body pillow, so we managed with the pillow, but to share the blanket, we had to sleep closely.

The super single bed was fine for one person but felt a bit cramped for two.

Jiyeon patted the bed, urging me to lie down.

“Sis, you go to the inside. I’ll sleep on the outside.”

“If you sleep on the outside, what if you roll off the bed? I’ll sleep on the outside.”

I chose the outside, planning to sneak out once she fell asleep.

But when I said that, Jiyeon gave me a distant, reminiscent look.

“You remember I always fell off the bed when I was little? I thought you had forgotten about that.”

Did my words remind her of old memories with her sister?

It was just something I said as an excuse.

After a brief moment of stillness, as if reminiscing, Jiyeon shook her head.

“No, you sleep on the inside. I’m all grown up now, I won’t fall off the bed.”

With a smile, Jiyeon cut off my escape route. I reluctantly settled into the inside of the bed, and she added,

“And if you’re really worried… we can sleep like this.”

After saying that, Jiyeon moved closer to me and hugged me tightly.

If we were to properly use the narrow super single bed, it might be better to stay this close.

But efficiency aside, my embarrassment was a separate issue.

Plus, Jiyeon was subtly touching my body.

Mostly my arms or stomach, claiming that it was soft and easy to touch.

When she tried to touch my chest for the same reason, I managed to stop her.

That was definitely something I wasn’t okay with.

Not knowing the appropriate distance between women, I just awkwardly shifted around.

I wasn’t the type to push my younger sibling away, even when she clung to me affectionately.

“It’s hot…”

“Hehe.”

As I tossed and turned, embarrassed, Jiyeon kept chuckling as if she found it amusing.

I hadn’t realized it before, but Jiyeon was actually taller than me.

Ji-eun didn’t seem short, but maybe it was her good proportions that made her legs look long.

Because of that, even though Jiyeon was the one hugging me, it seemed as though I was the one in her arms.

After a while, the discomfort subsided, and I felt her steady breathing beside me.

I soon drifted off to sleep, feeling oddly cozy in her embrace.

“Eat well, reply to messages when you get them!”

The next morning, I sent Jiyeon off after her repeated instructions.

When she asked me to visit her sometime, I vaguely promised I’d try, though I didn’t really want to.

But when Jiyeon kept asking, it was hard to refuse.

It was difficult to say no when I saw the almost teary look on her face.

After sending her off, I started my broadcast again.

With so much time on my hands, it seemed better to do something like broadcasting.

-Mollru is live!

“Good morning.”

[Molha (meaning ‘Mollu said’)]

[Good morning, teacher ^^]

[Do you live in New York, teacher?]

[If you say it’s morning, then it’s morning, no need to talk so much]

[Suah, you acted like you weren’t going to stream, but here you are again]

[Quietly killing people on stream]

[Turn on the camera, please]

[Please speak with more breath in your voice]

[Here I am, my Yadong]

The chat messages were quickly flooding in.

Indeed, a few messages were the kind that could make Jiyeon uncomfortable.

They were mostly malicious mockery or sexual harassment aimed at me.

To someone like me, hardened by facing the coldness of society, those messages didn’t faze me.

But knowing that Jiyeon would watch my streams from now on made it impossible for me to just ignore them.

I couldn’t just let it slide. It was tiresome.

Should I just tell Jiyeon not to watch my streams?

That would be the simplest solution, but the problem is that I didn’t think she’d listen to me.

I guess I’ll just try to think of it as “whatever.”

For the sake of any future viewers, managing the chat cleanly is an important task.

If the atmosphere of the chat didn’t suit some viewers, they’d likely stop watching on their own.

“I’m thinking of recruiting a chat manager. Is anyone interested?”

[Yes]

[Me!]

[Me!!]

[Me me me]

[Me]

[Hand up]

[I’ll do it!]

As soon as I mentioned it, viewers rushed in, eager to volunteer.

I was a little surprised by the response.

There were so many people willing to volunteer for this?

I thought there might be only a few applicants, but it seemed I was wrong.

Wondering if the viewers were misunderstanding something, I spoke up.

“Umm… do you all know what a chat manager is?”

[It’s a sword of truth]

[Isn’t it just like a badge?]

[Ah, haha, badge is a term from the gallery]

[Badge or sword of truth, it’s all the same]

[It’s managing the chat]

“These people are all subs, yet they don’t know that?”

“Yes. You’d help manage the chat while watching my stream, but I can’t promise any compensation or anything yet, since the stream is still in its early stages…”

[Compensation?]

[It’s okay ^^]

[You’re saying sorry for something so obvious, haha]

[If I become a manager, can I contact you privately?]

[You should leave]

[Ugh, selfish spammer]

I couldn’t help but wonder why some viewers were so interested in a streamer who hadn’t even shown her face.

Did female streamers always face this kind of attention?

“No, you can’t contact me privately… but maybe through Switch whispers for things like important notices.”

[Whispers from the teacher, ooh]

[That’s enough of a reward, haha]

[Many applicants are pouring in]
