Midnight.
In order to let Mio meet Shizuku sooner, Eve sneaked into the royal palace alone to steal the Blood of the Elf King.
Though the corridors were empty, small surveillance spirits were still present.
(Damn it, where exactly is the princess’s room?)
At that moment, the corridor lights came on. Three girls with gray hair dressed in black approached. Eve quickly used an invisibility spell.
As the footsteps got closer, Eve slowly walked away with cat-like steps.
“I’m telling you, Captain, patrolling the palace in the middle of the night—if we wake the princess, we’re screwed.”
“Exactly.”
“You don’t know? In a few days, I’m going back home. My father wants me to take over his chef business. My mother often writes to me, saying the knight order is too dangerous and that I should find another job. Before I leave, I want to walk through the whole place—just for memories.”
“Will you come back to visit us, Captain?”
“Of course. But I already know who your new captain is.”
“Who is it?”
“Lal—she used to be an elite from Zone Three… hmm?”
“What’s wrong, Captain?”
“I thought I heard footsteps!”
“Captain, it’s just us. Footsteps are normal.”
“You’re right, I must be overthinking.”
At that moment, Eve found the princess’s room and sneaked in.
But the room was too large and dimly lit, making it very hard to search, let alone find the Blood of the Elf King.
Suddenly, Eve let out a muffled cry. Her left leg began to cramp.
(Ow, that hurts like hell. If little Mio saw this, she’d definitely laugh at a demigod getting leg cramps.)
“Who’s there?!”
Fianna suddenly shouted. Realizing the situation was bad, Eve immediately used a disguise spell.
When the lights came on, Fianna was shocked.
“L-Lord Rubia?! Why are you here?”
“Sorry to disturb you. But when I passed by, I saw Gio Inzat running out from here. I rushed over to check if you were alright.”
“I see. Thank you, Lord Rubia.”
“It’s nothing. But about the Blood of the Elf King—do you still have the stone? If so, please let me keep it temporarily. I heard from Lili that Gio Inzat plans to kill Kamihito Kazahaya. The blood is safer with me.”
“No problem.”
Fianna got out of bed, walked to the closet, and took out a red stone.
“Here you go, Lord Rubia.”
“Thanks. But be careful of Gio Inzat—he’s not easy to deal with.”
“I understand.”
“Well then, I’ll take my leave. If Gio Inzat comes after you, run straight to Kamihito.”
“Okay.”
Eve exited through the door. Once she reached an empty spot, she reverted to her true form and returned home through a wormhole.
Looks like Mio and the others are asleep. I should get some rest too—we’re moving tomorrow morning.
But Eve noticed that Est was also on the bed, hugging Mio in her sleep.
Est was easygoing, so Eve thought her clone should get along with her just fine.
With that, Eve climbed into bed and went to sleep.
In the morning, Eve felt something heavy on her stomach.
When she opened her eyes, she saw Est using her belly as a pillow.
But Mio was no longer beside her, while Mireia and the others were still asleep.
(Where’s little Mio?)
Eve moved as gently as possible, placed Est aside, and headed outside.
She conjured a crystal ball to check Mio’s location—and let out a sigh of relief.
Unexpectedly, Mio was flying at 10,000 meters in the sky. Maybe she wasn’t used to flying yet?
Eve flew up into the sky and approached Mio.
“Good morning, Mio.”
“You too.”
“Practicing flying?”
“Yeah. I’m still not used to it, but I’ve gotten a lot of practice in.”
“You’re up pretty early. Also, I got the Blood of the Elf King.”
“Let me see.”
Eve took out a deep red stone from her pocket.
“Wow, I can feel the energy from it.”
“Yeah. We’ll handle your sister’s situation once we get to the new house.”
“Okay. But Shizuku might have some things to take care of. Ever since our parents died, she’s been really clingy.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll use magic to move everything we need first. Then once the others wake up, we’ll leave.”
“No problem. Let them sleep.”
Meanwhile, at the Spirit Academy…
“Lord Rubia, why didn’t you come to my place last night?!”
“I didn’t. I was at Lord Volcanic’s place.”
“Then who did I see?”
“Did something happen?”
“Last night, someone impersonating you said they heard from Lili that Gio Inzat plans to kill Kamihito and that the Blood of the Elf King would be safer with her.”
“You weren’t harmed, were you?”
“No, she left right after taking it.”
“Let’s hope it wasn’t anything bad. I heard from Mua that Alexander and the others have been resurrected. They could’ve killed Kamihito and his group, but Alexander said he wanted to negotiate and left.”
“Did the Elf Kings hear about this?”
“They did. They said they’ll keep observing for now.”
“I wonder if they’re hesitating because they lost their powers—or maybe they truly don’t want to fight anymore.”
“The suspicious part is how they were resurrected. Even Lord Volcanic doesn’t understand it.”
“Could it be like Restia—reborn into a new life?”
“Maybe. I just hope there’s no more bloodshed.”
“Yeah. Thousands of years, and too many have died already.”
An hour later, Mio and her companions arrived outside the new house. Mio was stunned.
“It’s huge!”
“Of course. I found good land, bought it with money, and used magic to build a three-story mansion. Each floor has three rooms. The first floor has a living room, restroom, toilet, bath, kitchen, and storage. There’s also a basement.”
“No wonder you’re you.”
“Just a small feat.”
After everyone entered, Luminallis was even more surprised.
(This place is beyond noble standards. And that blond girl is so close to Lady Eve—it doesn’t feel like a subordinate or friend. More like family.)
At that moment, Mio made an announcement.
“Everyone, listen up. The King of Darkness, Ren Ashudol, is reborn today. Let’s all work hard from now on.”
The three replied: “Yes!”
“Now get some rest. Eve and I are going out for a walk.”
“By the way, your rooms are labeled—Mireia, Yugodora, and Luminallis are on the second floor. Eve and I are on the third.”
“What about me?”
“Est is sharing a room with Mio.”
“Okay.”
“That’s it. You all rest—we’re off.”
On the street…
“Hey Eve, what if we run into an Elf King in the capital?”
“So what if we do? It’s no big deal.”
“Let’s walk around first and get to know the area.”
“Sure.”
Ten minutes later…
“Mio, we might end up fighting gods. One day, Heaven will probably launch a full-scale search on the human realm.”
“But if we help each other, we can defeat the fallen gods. Still, why are those gods so obsessed with hunting you down?”
“I told you—no one knows my powers except my parents. They fear the unknown, so they want to eliminate me. I’ll never forget what they did to my parents. Ancient heavenly laws are nothing but chaos.”
“Sigh… My parents died in a car crash. And then I died in a car crash too. What a fate!”
“What caused your parents’ crash?”
“Someone drunk driving. As for me, I don’t even know how I died—just lost consciousness after being flung. Was it from impact or blood loss? Who knows?”
“Well, I’ll go see your sister now. Better to reunite sooner.”
“I’ll check out the Elf Kings’ meeting place.”
“Just a reminder, all four Elf Kings live together now. They’re often in the same room.”
“Is it that castle-like house 200 meters ahead?”
“Yes.”
“Then I’m off. See you.”
“Take care.”
Mio started heading toward the Elf Kings’ place. After a while, she reached her destination.
“This is the place, huh? Guess I’ll go in since I’m bored.”
Suddenly, a guard blocked her.
“Who dares enter this place?!”
“My king is Saint Elf King Alexander. If you don’t step aside, don’t blame me for what happens.”
“You think I’ll fall for that? Get lost.”
“You’re asking for it.”
Mio punched the guard in the stomach. He fainted on the spot.
Inside the gate, two more guards appeared.
“May I ask who you are?”
“The Elf Kings don’t have any scheduled visitors today.”
“I came uninvited. But they’ll want to see me. If they don’t, they’ll be angry. Which room are they in?”
“They’re watching the crystal ball on the top floor.”
“Thanks. By the way, someone’s passed out at the gate. Go check.”
“Got it. Hey! Rookie, come with me!”
“Yes, Captain!”
Mio slowly walked up the stairs.
At the top, she found a golden door.
“Wow, so fancy.”
She knocked.
Knock knock knock. Knock knock knock… No answer.
“Let me knock again.”
Knock knock knock!
“Hey! Don’t knock on the door unless it’s important! Do it again and I’ll execute you on the spot!”
“Volcanic… your personality hasn’t changed at all.”
Rei pushed open the door, and all the Elf Kings in the room froze.
“Alexander!”
“Looks like everyone’s here. That’s good. The plan can start now.”
Volcanic looked on with hostility.
“You’ve regained your memory, haven’t you? That plan you mentioned—don’t tell me you still want to use us to open the gate to another world?”
Rei kicked the door shut with force.
“Relax. I’m into peace now. Besides, we were all friends once. Can we not cause trouble? Even if you all ganged up on me, you wouldn’t win. You all know how strong I am physically.”
Isaria stepped forward to Rei.
“Then welcome back.”
“Thanks. Also, I should tell you—Ren Ashdoll will be resurrected today.”
“Are you serious?”
“Of course I am.”
“Then Alexander, are you willing to relive those old days with us again, as friends?”
“Of course. But there’s one thing.”
“Hmm?”
“Though I’m an Elf King, my body is still human. Please call me by my human name: Kamikoshi Rei Wescott. Just Rei is fine.”
“You actually took a human name? That’s weird.”
“Come on, Beval. I thought about that name for days.”
“Sorry.”
“It’s fine. We’re all friends here. But I do have a request—could you forgive a couple of people?”
“Who?”
“Mirea and Yugudora. Mirea has been fully reincarnated as a human, and neither of them remembers anything. They’re good girls now.”
“Fine, as long as they don’t do anything bad.”
“Then just have them apologize.”
“Got it. Someday, I’ll go apologize to Kazahaya Shinjin too.”
At that moment, Rei thought, “Why do I have to apologize? I just got isekai’d.”
“Alexander, how were you resurrected?”
“Just in case, I used reincarnation magic before I died. But I only recovered my memories a few days ago. Also, outside of here, please call me Rei. I really enjoy being human.”
“Alright then, Rei.”
Meanwhile, Eve had snuck into Rei’s house.
She approached the room and heard the Magical Girl Illya theme song playing.
Then Eve entered the room, startling a short silver-haired girl.
(So cute! Even though her eyes are black like Rei’s, something feels different.)
“Who are you!?”
“I was sent by your sister Rei. You must be Shizuku, right?”
“I’m Shizuku, but I thought my sister was already…”
“You were going to say she passed away, right? Actually, I had her cross over to another world.”
“Really?! You’re not just saying that to make me feel better?”
“You might not believe me, but I can take you to where Rei is.”
“Then I want to go!”
“Alright, but you need a body. The world Rei went to is Blade Dance of the Elementalers. She reincarnated into the body of the Holy Maiden who was Alexander the Holy King. She’s now posing as the Elf King, and she has Mirea and Yugudora—two loyal followers with amnesia.”
“Then who will I become?”
“The King of Darkness, Ren Ashdoll.”
“Great! I’m just as good at acting as my sister.”
“Let me make one thing clear. Although you can come back from that world, due to my limitations, I can only bring someone back once in a long while—and only in the body of Ren Ashdoll. Once you change, you probably won’t ever return to normal, unless something unexpected happens.”
Shizuku nodded.
“Can I bring stuff with me?”
“Yes.”
“Then I’ll take all our shared bank account money and buy every novel, manga, PS4, and Switch I can.”
“How much is in the account?”
“3,693,190 yen. Let’s go shopping together!”
“I’ll pass. There are bad guys out there.”
“Fine, but I’ll have to make several trips.”
“Of course. With that much money, might as well spend it. We might not be back for years.”
“True.”
“By the way, do you know how Rei died? She only said she lost consciousness after getting hit.”
“I heard from the police: cause of death was blood loss and cerebral hemorrhage. The driver was drunk.”
“I see… Well, I’m off to shop.”
“Alright. What’s your name?”
“Eve.”
“Now that you mention it, you really look like Yami-chan.”
“Yeah, apart from the hairstyle, I’m a dead ringer for her.”
“Then I’ll call you Yami.”
“Sure, having another fake name can’t hurt.”
Both sides were progressing smoothly—but Heaven was in chaos.
“You still haven’t found that demigod?!”
“My Lord, I’ve already sent a large number of celestial soldiers. I believe we’ll locate her soon.”
“Foolish! That many soldiers being spotted by humans could be disastrous. Recall them immediately!”
“But My Lord, why are you so obsessed with her life? If I may speak freely—her gentle nature is just like her mother’s. She poses no threat.”
“The key reason I want her dead is because her mother had a child with a mortal.”
“But My Lord, killing them isn’t necessary.”
“You’re one of my trusted aides. Don’t forget—how did the first God-King fall? It was a demigod—child of god and human—whose power and potential far exceeded mortals and rivaled gods.”
“I know, but still…”
“I don’t want to kill them either, but I must consider the safety of Heaven.”
“But My Lord, what if Lord Anyue intervenes? I’ve heard that her mother, Lady Anyame, the Queen of the Underworld, also opposes meaningless slaughter.”
“I know they love humans. But it shouldn’t be a problem. I’ll consult them first.”
At 4 PM, Shizuku was sweating and cooling off under the AC.
“Whew, I’m beat.”
“Your stamina’s no less than a grown man’s.”
“Don’t be fooled by my 153 cm height. I’m really strong.”
“Haha, your sister’s only 158 cm too, I think. Anyway, let’s go.”
Eve waved her hand, and all the shopping bags disappeared.
“Wait! Let’s take the TV and furniture too!”
“Fine. You bought a PS4 and a ton of discs. Power issues will be handled with magic.”
Soon, the house was empty. But Eve duplicated the furniture and placed them back to avoid suspicion.
“Okay, Shizuku, take this.”
Eve handed Shizuku a small stone.
“What’s this?”
“A special item for crossing worlds.”
“Then let’s go.”
“Mhm.”
Eve opened a portal.
“Come with me.”
“Okay.”
As Shizuku entered, her body transformed. She touched her face.
“My appearance really changed! Wait—my voice too!”
“Of course. You’re now the Dark King, Ren Ashdoll. When we arrive, just say something like, ‘Long time no see.'”
“If I meet other Elf Kings, I’ll pretend I don’t know them, just say they seem familiar.”
“Don’t forget the Dragon King—he’s your subordinate.”
“Of course. When I meet him, I’ll say: ‘Hey, haven’t we met before? This city is fascinating. The food is great too.'”
“You two really know Blade Dance, huh?”
“Not completely. It’s just one of the many series I follow. My sister and I love magical girl shows too.”
One minute later—
“We’re here. Let’s go out.”
“Okay.”
Outside, Rei ran over and hugged Shizuku.
“Shizuku, I missed you so much!”
“Me too, Sis!”
“Rei, where are your subordinates?”
“They went out shopping.”
“I see. Then I’ll handle dinner tonight. I’ll let you all taste my supreme cooking!”
“Yay!”
“But Sis, now we can be together forever.”
“Yeah. And from now on, let’s advance science together.”
“Mhm.”
“What a touching reunion.”
“Yami, thank you.”
“No problem. Now that both the Light and Dark Kings are here, it’s time to build a nation. What will you call it?”
“Let me think…”
“Same here…”
After a while, neither of them could come up with anything. Eve clapped her hands.
“Let’s just call it the Kamikoshi-ster Federation, inspired by That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.”
“Sounds good!”
“The capital will be Kamikoshi City.”
“But Kamikoshi means ‘Beyond God.’ You guys okay with that?”
“Of course.”
“Me too.”
“Then let’s all start preparing dinner. It’s just past 4 now.”
“Yami, this house is huge!”
“Of course. I’ve always loved big houses and big rooms.”
“Yami, want to visit the Elf Academy tomorrow? I want to meet Restia.”
“Rei, you should come too. Making friends is important.”
“Got it, Shizuku. Let’s keep using our human names outside. Only pretend to be Elf Kings when needed.”
“Deal.”
Later, when everyone returned home, they noticed someone new in the living room.
“Who’s that?”
Shizuku approached and introduced herself.
“Nice to meet you. I’m the Dark King, Ren Ashdoll. Human name: Kamikoshi Shizuku Wescott. Just call me Shizuku.”
The three others knelt slightly.
“Good day, my Lady.”
“No need for that. You can stand. The one next to you is Est, right?”
“Yes.”
Shizuku leaned in to get a closer look at Est.
“So cute.”
“Are you a friend of Mio?”
Est looked at Shizuku with innocent eyes.
“Not just a friend, but a sister too!”
“I understand now.”
“Really adorable.”
Mio walked over as well.
“Est.”
“Yes?”
“Today we also have your favorite tofu.”
“Thank you, Mio.”
“As long as you like it. Est, tomorrow let’s go meet your other self together.”
“Yes, I am your sword. Everything is as you wish.”
At dinner time, everyone sat down to eat together.
“Iv, your cooking is amazing.”
“Mhm, you could be a culinary god.”
“You’re exaggerating.”
Luminarlis also found the food incredibly tasty, especially the cola chicken wings. Mireia and Yugudora tried every dish, while Est ate a huge amount of tofu.
“Mio and Shizuku, after you return from the academy tomorrow morning, come with me to find a place to build our nation.”
Both: “OK.”
“Luminarlis, do you know a place with good terrain?”
“Hmm, the old place — Alexander City — is pretty good.”
“Mio, how about rebuilding our new country in the old Alexander City?”
“No problem. The name will still be Kamikoshi-Stel Federation.”
“Say, Xiao An, how long would it take to build all the houses for a new country?”
“If it’s a massive nation and scaled properly, I can finish in about an hour. What kind of palace style do you want?”
“Something warm and cozy.”
“For me, something cool and stylish.”
“Got it. I’ll take care of everything.”
At 7:30, Mio and Shizuku were enjoying the street bustle, while Iv and the others wandered the east district.
“Sis, should the first thing we do after founding the country be developing technology?”
“Let’s consider it. Even though we were just normal first-year high schoolers, now we’re rulers. It feels great.”
“But sis, you came after death and I came while still alive. Either way, the important thing is we’re together again.”
“Yeah, if it weren’t for Iv, I’d have reincarnated already.”
“Does sis know Xiao An’s real identity?”
“She’s a half-god. Her parents were killed by a god-king. She’s been on the run.”
“That’s so sad.”
“Anyway, we help each other, and we’ll overcome any challenge. Shizuku, want to go meet the other Spirit Kings with me now?”
“Sure, I’d love to see what they look like.”
Mio returned to the place from earlier, where the guard she had beaten knelt as soon as he saw her.
“I was rude earlier today, my lady. Please forgive me!”
“I’ll let it slide this time.”
“Thank you, my lady!”
Mio and Shizuku entered and made their way to the top floor. When they opened the door, Rubia was also there.
“Yo, everyone. Didn’t expect to see you here too, Rubia.”
“Holy King, I heard from the divine one that you’ve come for peace talks?”
“Yeah, it wasn’t easy coming back to life. I don’t want to fight again. Hey, Shizuku, come in.”
After Shizuku entered, all the Spirit Kings were stunned again.
“Hello everyone.”
All four Spirit Kings walked over and examined her.
“Lian, do you remember me?”
Shizuku tilted her head at the red-haired girl.
“I don’t remember. I just know I’m the Dark Spirit King and that Alexander — I mean Mio — is my only friend or family. We came to this world together after all.”
“I see. So, where do you live now?”
“I live in the same house with my sister, not even a kilometer from here. And like my sister, I’ve taken a human name — Kamikoshi Shizuku Viscott.”
“Why the same surname?”
“Isn’t Alexander my sister? It makes sense we have the same name.”
“Hey, Alexander, what did you say to Lian?”
Vulcanic looked a bit angry.
“I didn’t say anything, right, Shizuku?”
“Of course.”
“Mio and Shizuku… what a weird way to call each other.”
Rodora tugged on Shizuku’s hand.
“How were you revived?”
“My sister used most of her power to cast some kind of spell. That’s how I came back.”
“Alexander, how do you even know that kind of spell?”
“I just experimented in the past. Plus, my memories haven’t fully returned, so I can’t explain.”
Rubia was curious.
“Other than Dark King, who else have you revived?”
“People you know — Yugudora and Mireia. But Mireia has completely reincarnated as a human. They don’t remember anything. They’re good girls now.”
Shizuku walked over to Rubia.
“Tomorrow I’ll be going to the Spirit Academy to see my successor. Of course, my sister will go too.”
“I understand.”
Mio didn’t know why Shizuku changed the subject, but she must have had a reason.
“Shizuku, let’s go.”
“Yes, sister.”
Isaria couldn’t help but say,
“They really do look like sisters.”
After the two left, Rubia turned to Vulcanic.
“What’s wrong, Rubia?”
“Lord Vulcanic, I have a strange feeling. Alexander’s words sound true, but I also sense a hint of deception.”
“I feel the same. Like she rehearsed it beforehand.”
“Let’s stop guessing. The fact we’re friends again is good enough.”
The other two Spirit Kings nodded in agreement.
“Rubia, make sure your subordinates don’t disrespect anyone tomorrow — especially your little sister, the fire cat girl.”
“Don’t worry, my lord.”
Outside—
“Sis, what kind of ruler do you want to be? I’m thinking of being like Illya — cute and lovable.”
“Same here. Promoting peace isn’t bad. Maybe we can even start a village?”
“Great idea. Who’ll be the village chief?”
“Depends on who stands out in our nation. Also, even if someone isn’t a noble, if they do great things, we’ll raise their rank — maybe even give them a new surname.”
“Ainsworth is a must-have.”
“Of course. Though in school, we got mocked so many times — people saying, ‘You’re girls but love boy stuff. Were you men in your past lives?'”
“Heh, everyone has their preferences. We just happened to like Dragon Ball and Naruto.”
“Two total tomboys.”
Mio and Shizuku turned around.
“Iv!”
“Xiao An!”
“I like Dragon Ball too, you know.”
“Where are Mireia and the others?”
“I sent them home first. Also, Mio, call me Xiao An too. I’ve changed outfits at home so many times.”
“Okay then, Xiao An, let’s go to school together tomorrow.”
“Sure. Not like we have anything else to do.”
“Xiao An, do you think I could make my own Restia Ashdoll?”
“Sure, but your priority now is to adapt to your body. Flying and attacking use mental focus. Shizuku can grow black wings.”
“I’ve seen the illustrations. Lian is such a stunning beauty.”
“Yeah, so why is my Holy King Saint Maiden body younger than in the illustrations?”
“I made you appear 17. Though your height is 5 cm shorter than the original.”
“Why only 5 cm?”
“Too big a drop would be weird, don’t you think?”
“Y-you’re right…”
“Let’s go home and eat cake. Shizuku bought a ton in the old world, and I’ve stored everything in my personal space. All food is preserved with magic — it’ll never expire.”
“Personal space?”
“Yeah, like Obito’s dimension. About 600 meters in size. I use it as a warehouse now.”
“Do we have one too?”
“Nope, it’s my unique skill. Anyway, Est and the others will get super hungry when they see all that.”
“True.”
“Let’s go eat cake!”
“Yeah, let’s go everyone!”
