“You liars, I’m going to kill you all!”
Xilin suddenly woke up from her dream, wiping sweat from her forehead.
The dream she just had was all about the suffering in the Tower of Babylon — days like hell.
“Damn, it made me recall the days in the Tower of Babylon again… huh?”
Xilin realized the room light was off.
“Rin! Bela!…………”
Getting no response, Xilin saw clothes by the bed, put them on, and went to other rooms but found nothing.
“Where is everyone?”
She looked up at the clock in the room and saw it was already midnight.
Then she went to Mio’s room and turned on the computer.
“Forget it, maybe they went out. But since I have Mio’s memories, I might as well have some fun with the computer and get familiar with it.”
Meanwhile, Rin and Bela were on their way back carrying a lot of stuff, and Bela looked happily at the shopping bags.
“Rin, how about beef curry for breakfast tomorrow morning?”
“That’s fine, but stewing beef takes some time. After all, we don’t have a pressure cooker at home. Also, I don’t really know which cut of beef is best.”
“But as long as it tastes good, it doesn’t matter.”
“That’s true, especially since you and the Queen don’t have high standards.”
“I do everything to follow the Queen’s wishes.”
“Same here. After all, with the two of us around, the Queen’s mental state can still be controlled. Remember back then in the manga when you almost got beaten to death? That was why the Queen’s efforts failed then.”
“But that won’t happen now because the gods told us our powers are linked, so there’s no more core or anything.”
“Sounds good, but I still have to get familiar with all the Herrschers’ abilities. Though I don’t know how they compare to divine power, with practice, I should still be able to hurt them.”
“You mean in a contest?”
“No, if fighting an evil god, I have to use all my strength! Block as much as possible, dodge what can’t be blocked, and retreat if necessary.”
“I’m afraid the opponent might decide the fight in one blow, giving no chance. I’d do the same if I were them.”
“That would be boring, but I appreciate you. Your dragon form is cool, loyal, and you never stab allies in the back. You don’t go easy on enemies — that’s my style. But with your strength, I worry about ambitious people betraying and declaring themselves king.”
“Usually that’s humans. But judging from Mio’s memories, they rarely go all out. That worries me.”
“The problem is we were born in peaceful times, so we hate cruelty. But don’t include me. I don’t have such a good temper.”
“What about beautiful girls? Like 15 to 19 years old. And I’ve never gone easy on Valkyries. That’s similar to your school age.”
“The answer is simple — beat them up. Just don’t mess with me.”
“What if they’re after you?”
“If I can drive them off or knock them out, fine. If too annoying, run away. Killing someone would only make things worse and no chance of reconciliation.”
“Last question — if you have to kill someone to protect the person you like, what would you do?”
“…Negotiate first. But this kind of question is troublesome. What if I have to protect the Queen but the opponent is my family or former friend? That would put me in a dilemma.”
“Seems that’s a problem too, but it probably won’t happen to us. Also, I plan to train, to protect the Queen and you.”
“I’ll protect everyone too…”
“Run!!!”
“Huh?!”
Rin had just turned her head when a speeding red car hit her, sending her flying 10 meters away.
“Rin!”
Bela was terrified and ran over, finding Rin slowly getting up and brushing off the dust.
“Ouch ouch ouch… good thing my body is strong now, or I’d be dead again.”
Then a middle-aged man in gray clothes ran over.
“Miss, are you alright?”
But Rin was a bit angry.
“How did you drive! Even on a small road, why were you going so fast?!”
“S-Sorry! My car suddenly malfunctioned. I’ll call the police and an ambulance right now.”
“No need. If you want to compensate, just give me 40,000 yen. That’s the end of it.”
“Really? That hit was hard. Shouldn’t it be more? And your injury…”
“I just need rest. My bones are different from yours. The 40,000 yen is mainly to buy some supplements.”
Actually, it was for Xilin — if the gods were unreachable, she could keep some money for emergencies.
“Alright.”
Though some bystanders took out phones to record, Rin used the Herrscher of Thunder’s power to disable all their devices, so none could turn on.
Bela knew this power was invisible, so normal people didn’t understand what happened.
“I’ll leave now. Your car needs repair. I’m meeting family with friends, so no time to chat.”
“Okay, take care!”
On a deserted path, Rin sighed.
“Good thing I’m not an ordinary person now. But why was I hit and thrown just now?”
“Forget that. Are you really okay?”
“Don’t worry. I wouldn’t die so easily for the Queen. Besides, I wasn’t using energy defense when talking to you, so just a little pain, nothing serious.”
“If I remember, you have some self-healing ability too?”
“Yes, Mio’s ability is fully copied into me. Healing a bit is no problem. Just my reaction was slow earlier.”
“That’s linked to reflexes. If I were a Honkai beast and enemies were behind me, I’d whip my tail immediately.”
“Careful not to break your tail. Sword users love cutting tails. But you should fight human form. Dragon form is too big, a sitting duck.”
“I’ll think about it.”
Suddenly Rin had a thought.
“Bela, if in another world you turned into dragon form, can I ride you for a ride?”
“If it’s you and the Queen, no problem. But is that idea from watching too many dragon knights?”
“No, I just think riding a flying dragon looks cool.”
“But from those anime memories, some require a license to ride.”
“What kind of dragon are they and what kind am I? Intelligence differs. If it loses control, it might eat people.”
“True. Let’s head back. Sleep early, tomorrow we cook curry.”
“Okay.”
About 15 minutes later, they got home and Rin saw the light was on.
She walked over and found Xilin playing Honkai Impact 3.
“Queen, you’re awake.”
“Yes, where did you go?”
“Bought some groceries, curry rice for breakfast tomorrow.”
“Is curry good? I’ve never tried it.”
“It tastes great. And having a bottle of iced tea beside it is nice too.”
“Really? This game is fun.”
Rin looked closely and saw it was a new account.
“Queen registered with her own phone number?”
“Yes. When the god bought the phone, each had a SIM card, plus I have memories, so I know how to use it.”
“Speaking of phones, Mio’s group should have theirs bought by Lilia, but I don’t know their numbers.”
“I’ll ask when we meet. But I heard Shizuku has a laptop, right?”
“Yes, but no idea where it is. We couldn’t find it later.”
“Do you think we should get some laptops too? Like for long train rides, when bored, we can play.”
“We usually teleport or use portals, no need for long trips.”
“But most people here are normal humans. I think we should adapt a bit.”
“Alright, as the Queen wishes.”
“…Why is your clothes torn?”
Rin looked at her waist and saw a small rip.
“Hit by a car. Luckily, I’m not normal anymore or I’d be dead.”
“Are you okay?”
“Fine. Even without energy defense, my body’s defense is strong.”
“Good.”
Xilin was grateful Rin had the gods create her and Bela, so she had special feelings toward Rin.
“Bela.”
“Hm?”
“Come cut vegetables with me. I’ll stew the beef, then cut it into pieces to add to the curry tomorrow.”
“Okay. Queen, Rin and I will leave now.”
“You two go ahead. I’ll familiarize myself with this game.”
In the kitchen, Rin took a basin, put the beef inside soaking in water, then started chopping onions.
“Bela, please peel the potatoes.”
“Got it!”
After finishing most of the prep, Rin remembered they were out of rice.
“Bela, let’s buy some rice in the morning.”
“Good idea. We cook rice and curry together. When the curry’s almost done, the rice should be ready. Then we can eat while hot.”
“Right. But I need to think about spices.”
“How about red wine beef? The god said when creating me, ‘Tonight, have some red wine and a 5-star steak.’”
“Sounds good, but we can’t drink alcohol yet.”
“That’s a human rule. Why should we listen now?”
“Anyway, don’t get drunk or all humanity’s doomed.”
No one on this Earth could beat a Herrscher, let alone one with the Ender Herrscher’s power. But if gods interfered, that was another story.
“I understand.”
“Let’s wash our hands, leave the food to cool here. I’ll put it in the fridge before bed.”
“Okay.”
After finishing, the two returned to Xilin’s room, where Xilin was on her phone.
“Queen, we’re almost done. Tomorrow morning, we just need to finish the curry.”
“Thanks. I also downloaded a lot of games and manga. I plan to catch up on all the Honkai Impact 3 manga.”
“It feels weird
that I’m like a housewife.”
“You’re not alone. I feel like a master chef sometimes.”
“Next time we can invite Mio’s group over to play.”
“That’s good. I miss those days.”
“Let’s rest early.”
“Alright.”
As they rested, Xilin wondered about the strange car incident. Someone might be trying to test them or cause trouble. But with their powers, they’d be ready.
