At this moment, everyone at Rin’s house was feasting, while Nok’er, too full to eat, gave all her sushi to Xilin.
“Don’t you eat much, Nok’er?”
“Yeah, maybe I drank too much soda, or maybe it’s because I already had a bowl of eel rice and some sushi, so my stomach’s full.”
“Human stomachs really aren’t up to much. I don’t have that issue—probably digested already.”
“By the way, my queen, I just thought of something else tasty and affordable. Want to hear it?”
“Sure.”
“There’s a beef ramen shop in the B2 level of the department store market. Both the broth and noodles are super tasty, and it’s cheap too. I’ve been going there since I was six, when my family took me.”
“Ramen… Rin, how about eating that tonight?”
“As long as the queen is happy, I’m down. Add a poached egg while eating ramen.”
“Great!”
Then Rin conjured a small portal, reached in, and pulled out several buckets of instant noodles.
“What’s that?”
“Instant noodles. Just soak them in 70–80°C hot water for three minutes, and they’re delicious.”
Nok’er took a look—it was imported instant noodles, Master Kong’s braised beef flavor.
“Rin, this brand is Master Kong, right?”
“Yeah. You can read Chinese?”
“I’m Chinese, just living in Japan now. If you get the pinyin and pronunciation right, Chinese is pretty easy. Just don’t give me English—I hate that stuff and can’t understand a thing.”
“Same here. These noodles are for late-night snacks when I’m hungry. Too bad we don’t have any canned luncheon meat—I’ll have to buy some.”
“That stuff’s too salty.”
“Well, we’re not using the whole can. By the way, Queen with white hair, what are you and Mio eating tonight?”
“No idea yet, but from memory it all looks plentiful.”
“Yeah, but I still can’t help liking the simple stuff. Sausage and egg fried rice is my favorite.”
“But you’ve never had control of the body—how do you even know what you like?”
“Easy. I share taste perception with little Mio. Whatever she eats, it’s like I’m eating it too. Same with what she sees or hears—if I like it, I’ll notice it.”
“Seems like you don’t care much about what I say, since Kiana’s stuff is a bit messy.”
“Feels like it. Anyway, Nok’er, do you know where the most delinquents hang out? I want to collect life energy.”
“Planning to kill people?”
“That’s not what I mean. It’s a natural ability of mine. Absorbing life energy makes me stronger. But what I call ‘life energy’ is just focus, vitality, enthusiasm, stamina. Normal people recover after resting for a day or two. And my evil aura is invisible. If I intentionally touch someone, they’ll feel fatigued and unfocused in two to three hours.”
“So that’s why you target those people?”
“Yeah. If not for Mio’s sake, I’d just go on a large-scale collection spree on the street. Even touching my clothes would be enough.”
“Then why don’t we get affected when we touch you?”
“Because I control it. If I hold your hand but don’t use my aura, it’s like any normal touch. Even if there’s aura, if it’s not intentional, nothing happens.”
“Are you some kind of evil god? Why do you have so much dark stuff in you?”
“I don’t know. Only my mom understands. By the way, I can also absorb other people’s lifespan, energy, and more.”
“Sounds like it’s best not to mess with you.”
“Of course. When you bullied Mio back then, if I had come out, I probably would’ve drained you dry.”
“Good thing it was your little sister who beat me up. If it had been you, I’d be long gone.”
“Don’t overthink it. I’d just knock you around too. But I’d first hold you down, drain all your stamina so you couldn’t move, and you’d be like a fish on a chopping board.”
“Would that work on gods?”
“No idea. I only collect life energy from delinquents so they can’t do bad stuff.”
“Can you give the collected stuff to others?”
“Only stamina and lifespan are transferrable, and they can even heal wounds—as long as the heart and brain are intact.”
“What if you’re stabbed in the heart? How many seconds can you live? Can it still heal?”
“As long as I’m not instantly killed. I’m a Herrscher after all—my body isn’t that fragile.”
“Girls’ bodies are generally delicate. Back home, I used to accidentally get paper cuts from book pages.”
“Be careful. The main reason I collect life energy is to fight unknown threats.”
“What do you mean?”
“This world is huge. If I travel into space and run into something I can’t beat, what then? Energy collection and training are both essential. I want to travel the stars, but I’m scared of things like space pirates.”
Suddenly, a portal opened and Lian stepped out.
“Xiao Lian.”
Lian glanced at Rin, then looked around.
“Just you guys?”
“Yeah, why?”
“No big deal. I just want to eat lamb dumplings. Lin said from Mio’s front door, go 300m forward, then left, then 100m, left again for 10m—there’s a handmade dumpling shop. I tried to find it in the Sword Dance world but no luck.”
“Speaking of dumplings, I want to buy some frozen ones.”
“I still think fresh handmade dumplings taste better. There’s so much I haven’t tried yet. I went to see Alexander before this, and now I’m eating here.”
“I remember that shop Lin mentioned. The flavor’s good. But Mio hasn’t been there in over four years. She’s passed by, but we’re not sure the taste is still the same.”
“No problem. We’ll know once we eat it.”
“Hey, are you the King of Darkness?”
Nok’er asked.
“Former one, technically. And you are…?”
“Nok’er. You could say I’m Mio’s friend now.”
“Oh right, you’re the friend Mio recently reconciled with.”
“Yeah. If you like lamb dumplings, King of Darkness, I can make some for you.”
“Thanks. I just want to try them. I’ve never had any.”
“Just like the Queen—you both want to try what you’ve never eaten. Queen, have you ever had lamb dumplings?”
“I only remember my mom making shrimp dumplings when I was little. I haven’t tried other fillings.”
“Then I’ll make extra when I have time. Rin, can you make dumplings?”
“Big or small dumplings, wontons—no problem. But don’t ask about shumai or steamed buns. I can’t make those at all.”
Woo~ woo~
Nok’er’s phone suddenly rang, and she picked up.
“Hello… What!? You got beat up? Where are you now?… I’ll head over right away.”
She sighed after hanging up.
“Here we go again.”
Rin looked curious.
“Who was that?”
“That brat Lian. She loves bullying the weak and snatching some money. My friend saw her doing it and tried to help—but ended up getting beaten.”
“Isn’t this something the police should handle?”
“Problem is, Lian looks 15. And we settle our problems with fists. I’ve never won against Lian—she’s known for insane strength.”
“Want me to handle it? I need life energy anyway.”
“But can you teach me how to fight? I ate a Hades Fruit, my strength’s skyrocketed—I won’t lose again.”
“Fair enough. Then Queen, we’re heading out.”
“Okay.”
“Nok’er, where is it?”
“An abandoned building in an area without surveillance. No people around. I like hanging out there too. As a kid I used to light stuff on fire with bricks and a lighter.”
“Is it far?”
“Not really—just three subway stops.”
“Then let’s go now.”
“Alright!”
After the two ran off, Lian looked at Xilin.
“Are you just letting them go like that?”
But Xilin shook her head.
“I understand that feeling—having your friend get hurt. Sometimes, a lesson needs to be taught.”
“But I still don’t agree with violence. Humans are complicated.”
Soon, the two arrived by subway and walked to an abandoned building. Nok’er saw the person and walked up.
“Where’s my friend?”
“Ran off like a rat. Do you think just because you brought someone, you can beat me?”
The girl, in school uniform and similar build, hairstyle, and color as Shenyin, felt off to Rin.
Nok’er clenched her fists.
“Mind if we go upstairs, just you and me?”
“Are you suicidal? Or just blinded by anger?”
“I’m not who I used to be. Do you really think I’m afraid of you now?”
The girl laughed.
“Interesting. So is the other one going to fight too?”
“Only if she has to.”
“Doesn’t matter if you both come at me. But Nok’er, if you lose this time, it won’t be just a beating.”
“None of us call the cops when we lose. But same for you—if you’ve got anything valuable in your pocket, we’re taking it.”
“Fine.”
They all went to the seventh floor of the run-down building. It was deserted, and no one around to notice. Rin laid down near the wall and watched.
“I’ll just sit and watch.”
“Alright.”
As the two stood in the center, the girl laughed again.
“Let’s begin. Show me how much you’ve grown, stupid Nok’er!”
As soon as she spoke, she threw a straight punch.
But Nok’er blocked it with one finger.
“What!.. Ugh!”
Before the girl could react, Nok’er kicked her in the stomach, sending her back a few steps.
But the girl didn’t seem to care—she looked delighted.
“So it wasn’t just talk.”
(That punch was blocked by a finger. Her strength must’ve grown… but a single finger blocking it? Impossible… unless—)
“That was good. Now let’s continue.”
“Suit yourself.”
The girl rushed in, throwing a flurry of punches. Nok’er blocked them, but they kept getting stronger. Then the girl landed a spinning kick that knocked Nok’er to the ground.
“How’s that?”
Nok’er slowly got up, but something felt wrong.
(Ouch… That’s not normal human strength. Even with above-average power, I shouldn’t be sent flying with one kick… unless she’s not human.)
She clenched her fists again and charged, landing a full-powered punch to the girl’s face.
“…What!”
Unlike earlier, she didn’t even budge. She caught Nok’er by the neck.
“Turns out you weren’t bluffing. I had low expectations—but here’s a reward: one punch.”
Then she punched Nok’er hard in the stomach.
“Waaah…”
The girl let go, and Nockel lay on the ground clutching her stomach, unable to get up from the pain.
“Not bad…”
The girl turned her gaze to Rin.
“You want to go too?”
“Something like that. But if you think I’m as easy as her, then you’re making a huge mistake.”
“Show me what you’ve got. If I’m in a good mood, today might end with just a few broken bones.”
“Same to you.”
But Nockel still couldn’t get up from the pain. Rin had no choice but to drag her to the wall and let her sit and watch.
“Sorry about this.”
“It’s fine. Honestly, you guys messed with the wrong person. The fact you weren’t already in the hospital is a miracle.”
The girl laughed when she heard that.
“To be precise, I just wasn’t interested. But your red eyes really irritate me.”
“Then let’s begin. I don’t feel like wasting time.”
“As you wish!”
Right after she spoke, the girl rushed forward, grabbed Rin’s head with both hands, and delivered a headbutt.
With a loud bang, it felt like she had hit a rock. The pain was intense, but Rin looked completely unaffected.
“That’s it?”
Rin grinned wickedly and grabbed the girl’s head.
“Then let’s play headbutt together!”
She repeatedly bashed the girl with her own head, even kicking with her legs, but Rin seemed perfectly fine.
“W-W-Wait! Stop stop stop stop stop!!!”
Rin ignored her completely, but suddenly the girl’s eyes turned blue. With a powerful kick, she sent Rin crashing into a wall, leaving a crater. Still, Rin stood up and dusted herself off like nothing happened.
“So you were holding back.”
The girl touched her forehead, then glared at Rin again.
“I’ll kill you!”
She raised her hand toward Rin, and a stream of flames shot out from her palm.
“Parlor tricks.”
Before the flames even touched Rin, they froze into ice and shattered on the ground.
“This can’t be! How can my cursed flame be frozen? Aaaahhh!”
Before she could finish, one of her arms was severed.
“If you’re not human, then I have no reason to hold back. Even killing you is acceptable.”
(The ice of the Herrscher of Ice and the wind blades of the Herrscher of Wind are really useful.)
A dark red energy scythe suddenly appeared in Rin’s hand. The girl tried to aim her other hand at Rin, but then noticed black-red aura swirling around Rin, paralyzing her with fear.
“W-Wait… What are you?”
“You’re asking me? I’m a witch! If you hadn’t attacked me with fire earlier, you wouldn’t have lost an arm.”
“Then I surrender! I’ll do anything if you let me go!”
“Fine. Who are you?”
The scythe in Rin’s hand vanished.
“Actually, I’m a subordinate of an evil god.”
“An evil god?”
“Evil god Zoiga! One of the evil gods sealed by Queen Anmaya. But 197 years ago, I broke the seal.”
“So where is this so-called evil god now?”
“Living with me. Nearby.”
“Is she powerful?”
“Of course! She may look like a 16-year-old human girl, but at full power, she can destroy the moon in a single blow!”
“Wow! That sounds terrifying! I’m shaking!”
“You don’t sound scared at all.”
“Of course not. What’s one moon? With my current power, destroying a planet like Mars wouldn’t even be hard.”
“Who exactly are you?”
“Kamigoshi Rin Viscount! The strongest witch!”
Nockel was speechless.
(Please, now’s not the time for chuunibyou.)
“If you’re a witch, why are you in a place like this?”
“Nockel is my friend, and her friend got bullied by you. Her friend asked me to help, so here I am. But who are you?”
“My name is Ren. I’m a demon from the demon world. I used to be a rich noble’s daughter, but because of family issues, I ran away from home.”
“I see. But you still need to face consequences for losing.”
The girl’s face turned panicked.
“Isn’t losing an arm enough?!”
“Give my friend some money, and take us to meet your evil god. Then I’ll let you go.”
(After all, evil gods are more interesting than your life energy.)
“Fine.”
In the next instant, the girl’s arm regenerated. The severed arm on the ground was burned to ash.
“So many weird powers!”
“It comes naturally to demon-world people.”
Nockel was feeling much better and stood up again.
“Ren, couldn’t you have gone easier on me?”
“You went all out first. I was just using regular attacks. Anyway, Viscount…”
“Just call me Rin.”
“Then Rin, how about I use a magic circle to teleport us?”
“Sure, I don’t feel like walking anyway.”
A five-star magic circle appeared on the ground, and the three of them stepped into it and arrived in a house.
Looking around, it seemed to be a living room.
“Evil god-sama, I brought guests.”
Then a door opened, and a girl wearing blue pajamas, about the same size as Ren, walked out.
She had long light-blue hair and pale red eyes. Her face was as beautiful as a doll, making Rin want to touch her.
But the girl glared at Rin.
“Ren, she smells like Anmaya. Why’d you bring her?”
“She wanted to meet you.”
“Meet me?”
“Hello, I’m Kamigoshi Rin Viscount! If possible, can we be friends?”
“Why?”
“Because hanging out with regular people is boring. Maybe being friends with an evil god will be fun.”
The evil god stared expressionlessly at Rin.
“First, what’s your relationship with Anmaya? I don’t get what that woman is thinking.”
“I’m just good friends with her daughter, An’yue. She’s been nice to me.”
The evil god sighed.
“Just a kind warning: don’t trust that woman too much. While her daughter has a trustworthy personality, the woman herself is not to be trusted.”
“You two have beef?”
“That woman is not like An’yue. We agreed I’d surrender and live a normal life, but she ambushed and sealed me.”
“What was the reason for the fight?”
“I wanted to destroy the heavens. The gods fought me, and I lost due to power and stamina.”
“I see. But why destroy everything?”
“There’s too much conflict between order and contradiction. But that’s not something you humans should know.”
“So what do you do now?”
“Just chill at home, play computer games, eat snacks, watch TV, and follow anime.”
“Sounds pretty good.”
“Right? By the way, what’s that evil aura on you?”
“To protect my sister. But it’s fun to mess with people using it.”
“Sounds interesting. Ren, go make some red tea and bring out the snacks.”
“Yes.”
“That’s okay, I’ve got friends waiting at home.”
“Alright, but since you wanted to be friends, leave your number and come visit sometime.”
“Sure. But why are you called an evil god? You don’t look like one. You’re cute.”
“I used to be really bad. Now I’m completely different thanks to modern times. These days, I’m addicted to games. No way I’d destroy the world now—that’d be boring. What I enjoy most is making friends to game and watch anime with.”
“You’re cute enough to be popular. Anyway, I’m heading out.”
“Okay.”
Rin and Nockel teleported home instantly. Zoiga looked at Ren.
“Do you think she plays on PlayStation?”
“Probably. Consoles are cheap now. Anyone with a job can get one in a month or two. But Evil God-sama, you don’t actually hate Anmaya, do you?”
“Not really. Just don’t like her. I get why she ambushed me back then. My personality was trash.”
“True. But that Rin girl is strong! I didn’t even see her move before my arm was gone.”
“That’s what you get. I told you not to bully random people. If you meet someone really dangerous, you might just get killed.”
“You’re right.”
When Rin and Nockel got home, they found Riya reading a novel in the living room.
“We’re back.”
“Sirin told me you went to teach someone a lesson. Why do you smell like Zoiga?”
“Because we just came from her house.”
“No wonder. Did you fall for her cute appearance? She used to be awful, but now she’s got a pretty good personality.”
“I wanted to touch her, but she kind of hates Anmaya. Told me not to trust her too much.”
“She’s not wrong. You really shouldn’t trust me too much.”
“You’re just saying it outright?”
“Yeah. When Anmaya sealed her back then, I wasn’t exactly pure either. Had a lot going on.”
“By the way, where’s my queen?”
“They went with Xia to pick furniture. I stayed behind to wait for you.”
“Wait, if you stayed, who’s paying?”
“My two daughters, of course. Nockel, did your computer arrive?”
“Yeah, I’m downloading games now.”
“Good. Rin, how about moving in tomorrow too? Xia’s fine with it.”
“Sure. Also, one thing—why wasn’t the evil god just killed back when they were sealed?”
“Depends on personality. Alexander messed up and wanted to reset the world. Some evil gods want to take everyone down with them. Those had to go.”
“So if Alexander’s mistake only impacted modern times a bit, it’s tolerable. But if the damage happened in ancient times with major sacrifices, then what?”
“Hard to say. Besides, would humans care about stuff from hundreds or thousands of years ago? Unless it’s recent, no one remembers. Like, who counts crimes from 3,000 years ago today? Impossible. With each generation, hatred fades.”
“True. I think living as a normal human is easier anyway. No need to deal with all that crap.”
“Anyway, want to go buy furniture together now? Nockel, you can replace everything at home.”
“Thanks! I want a 2.1 Sony TV and a PS5.”
“That’s what little Mio has. If you want it, sure.”
“Thanks!”
“No problem. Oh, by the way, did Zoiga tell you anything about the demon dragon?”
“No, she just said a few words and we left.”
“If you see her again, try to get info.”
“Alright.”
“Then let’s stop talking and go to the furniture store! I can sense they’re currently in a large department store.”
When they arrived on the third floor of the department store, Rin only found Xia, Sirin, Bella, Eve, and Anyue. Then she walked over.
“Xia, where’s the white-haired Queen?”
“Oh, she said she wanted to sleep, so she went to the Sword Dance world to nap. Also, I bought a game earlier.”
“What game?”
“Akiba’s Trip 2! A classic and fun game.”
“Kazefuu Shizuku and Kazefuu Rin are the type of sisters I like.”
“Shizuku is my favorite. But if we fought and played strip games, what do you think would happen?”
“Anyway, it’s just a bunch of girls, no big deal. But if we do hand-to-hand combat and tear clothes off, do you think you can beat me?”
“What, you want to try?”
“Since we’re in fusion form now, might as well give it a go. But no removing underwear.”
“Don’t forget, reality doesn’t have a stun bar, but stamina still exists. Energy gets used up more slowly, so that would be when I win.”
“Fine, let’s see who can outlast the other.”
“Stop, stop…”
Eve interrupted.
“If you want to strip, do it in a game. Don’t play this stuff in real life.”
But Anyue chuckled.
“Mom, do you want to play too?”
“You’ve got a million years before you can strip me.”
“I meant my mom, not you, Ria.”
“Still a million years too early. And would you even dare?”
“Why not? You’re usually just like me. Now that I look around fifteen or sixteen all the time, if we mess around, it’s just like a sisterly squabble.”
“But I’m still your mom, don’t forget that.”
“Think of it as my rebellious phase. Not listening to parents is normal. And it’s not like you don’t know—have I ever listened to my parents?”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll kick you out of your position as Death God?”
“So what if you do? Back then I had no friends, so the title mattered a little. Now I have friends—do you really think I care about that? Plus, you can read minds, right? You know I’m telling the truth.”
“You’re unbelievable.”
“No worries. You go help Rin buy furniture first. I’ll head to the game store later.”
“Fine. Nocker, let’s go get you a TV first.”
“Thanks.”
But Sirin looked at Rin and smiled.
“This is really interesting.”
“Yeah. After all, that’s what being human is.”
Later, in the TV section, Ria picked a 65-inch television, and Nocker was ecstatic.
“This really feels like when my parents used to take me shopping as a kid.”
“That’s a normal feeling. I really like kids. If you want, I can adopt you as my goddaughter!”
“No thanks. When gods offer too many benefits, it’s usually a trap—lots of stories say that.”
“You think I’m that kind of trickster god?”
“Well, after hearing stories about evil gods, people surrender and then get backstabbed.”
“You can’t entirely blame me for that. Back then, Dark芽 was also furious. But don’t compare the current us to who we were. We’re totally different now.”
“Which is why you should never trust any god.”
Anyue brushed it off completely.
“Don’t forget, you still carry my bloodline.”
“I can’t help that, but you know this too—a god’s title can be revoked. One is passive, one is active. Just like quitting a job—I’ll just go work somewhere else.”
“With your personality, no company would want you.”
“If that’s the case, it’s probably your doing. And with so many other worlds, I don’t have to stay a god in just one.”
“Forget about gods—in my eyes, you’ll always be a little brat.”
“Yeah, right. Anyway, wanna go buy some instant noodles later?”
“Why instant noodles?”
“To eat, of course. Plus, I like them. So many flavors—I never get bored.”
While everyone was chatting, someone tapped Nocker on the back. She turned around—it was Zoiga.
“Hi!”
“Evil God?!”
Ria immediately panicked when she saw Zoiga.
“My god, your power has grown so much!”
“I’ve been training too. By the way, who are you?”
“Me? …I’m Nocker’s friend, Ria.”
Zoiga sniffed.
“You smell like that big jerk Dark芽. But hey Anyue, long time no see.”
“Long time no see, Little Yi. How have you been?”
“Got a lot of Platinums in games, chased too many anime to finish—but it’s been fun.”
“Sounds like life’s treating you well.”
“Yup. You’re still the same though—so much better than your wicked mom.”
“Totally agree. I hate her too.”
Eve was speechless. Talking trash about your own mom in front of her? That’s pretty bizarre.
But Ria didn’t mind at all. Even Dark芽 would have reacted the same. Plus, there was plenty of tension between Anyue and Dark芽—more than just a little.
“Even if you hate her, your fondness for kids hasn’t changed, right?”
“Of course not. So, Little Yi, why are you here?”
“I was bored and came to hang with Nocker. Ren just went to sleep. That guy’s half a night owl too.”
“But demons don’t need sleep, right?”
“Not necessarily. Even I sleep like a human sometimes. When I get tired, I sleep.”
“Thinking like a human is adaptation. But things that didn’t originally need sleep starting to sleep? That’s kind of a regression. I’m like that too.”
“More importantly, please pass a message to Dark芽 today.”
“What message?”
“Evil God Shadow, Demon King Binal, and I will attend the Demon Realm banquet ten days from now. If you want to come, you can eat too.”
“Can I bring friends?”
“Of course. But Shadow and I share the same face, so tell your friends not to get confused.”
“Same face? Why?”
Sirin was curious.
“Simple—alternate universe versions of myself, just different names.”
“Parallel universes?”
Rin spoke up.
“The Queen is basically Sirin from both Honkai 2 and 3, right?”
“Different worldlines, right?”
“Yeah. But that Evil God—why did your alternate universe self come here?”
“If I had to say, to copy.”
“Copy?”
“That version of me is way more powerful. But the copying is of entire universes. Like copying a planet and pasting it in her own universe. No life forms, but all the buildings, tech, terrain, and environment are transferred.”
“The entire universe… My god!”
“Don’t be shocked. We’re evil gods, sure, but we’ve got some decency. After copying, our own world has a place for people to live, avoiding invasions of other planets—including the heavens, underworld, demon realm, and elf realm.”
But Anyue started scheming again.
(I have a skill that copies any ability. I haven’t used Little Eve’s power much yet, but large-scale copying like this is really interesting.)
“Little Yi, if that alternate you looks the same, can I hug her?”
“Sure. I saw her just two days ago. She loves kids too.”
Ria smirked.
“I read your mind. That ability of yours—I want to study it.”
“Try me anytime. My power’s stronger than yours anyway.”
“Want to compare?”
“Nah, for the sake of my cute little sister, I’ll let it slide.”
“Anyue, you have a sister?”
“Just born recently. Someone’s taking care of her.”
“I see. I wanted to fight your mom, but since she just gave birth and is weak, I’ll let it go.”
“How kind of you.”
Ria casually said:
“A bit of conscience is a good thing. Besides, even if I fought her at full power, I might not win.”
“Due to strength?”
“Completely outclassed. But the real problem is my body—it’s reached its limit. Even if I increase my power, I can’t handle it physically. If I force it, it’s suicide.”
“Then you should train.”
“Doesn’t feel necessary now. We’re in a peaceful world. I’d rather enjoy games, anime, and good food. Also, I’ve already sensed it with magic—the rest of you have also reached your power limits. Any more, and your bodies will break—except for the two gray-haired girls.”
“You mean Xia and Rin?”
“Yep. And that blonde little girl—based on what I feel, she might be an evolvable type.”
“Evolution?”
“Like turning into a demon god. Anyone—human, god, demon—can evolve. Even if the outside doesn’t change, the internal quality leaps. Like a regular human becoming a god—still looks the same, but way stronger in strength and speed. Just not smarter.”
“I’ll pass. I’m not interested in that stuff.”
“Really? Becoming a demon god means no lifespan—you become immortal. You can still die in battle, but your power becomes immense.”
“The thing is, I’m a demigod. I already have a way to become immortal, but I don’t want to use it.”
(When I went to Kamioto in the Sword Dance world, I got something that makes me and everyone immortal. But if we get sealed in a move, we’ll be stuck in an eternal void. That’s worse.)
“Are you an immortal god?”
“If possible, I’m something like Zamasu from Dragon Ball.”
“An immortal enemy is really troublesome. By the way, what are you guys buying?”
“Furniture for moving.”
“I see. Then I won’t bother you anymore. I’m going to eat some beef bowl myself.”
After saying that, Zoe left. But Liyame suddenly remembered something.
“Anyue, Eve, I’m heading to the heavens for a bit. You guys go with Nocker and help them shop.”
“Alright.”
“Got it.”
“Then I’m off. Silin, when you guys go home, just use the teleportation gate. Besides that evil god, I also sensed the scent of a fox spirit.”
“Fox spirit?”
“A mischievous fox spirit with deep scheming. She easily angers people and alienates her loved ones. Even if you and Lin meet her in the future, you must 100% control your temper, or you’ll be in big trouble. Even if your power is way above hers, her abilities will totally suppress you.”
Lin was curious.
“What kind of ability?”
“It’s better if you don’t know. Even if Eve and I fuse together, we still have to show her respect. Her power isn’t much, but she’s a true ability user. I remember she has over ten thousand types of powers.”
“Like in A Certain Magical Index?”
“You’ll understand better if you see it for yourself. But if you make her angry, go buy some fried tofu.”
“Is fried tofu her poison?”
“Nope, it’s just her absolute favorite food.”
“Fox spirit… fried tofu, why does that remind me of Honkai Impact’s Yae Sakura?”
“Just a coincidence. Anyway, I’m off.”
After Liyame left, Lin suddenly got curious about the fox spirit.
“Anyue, do you know that fox spirit?”
“Of course I do. Haven’t seen her in about sixty or seventy years.”
“I want to go see her.”
“Sure! I’ll send the address to your phone using divine power. But we probably can’t go with you — we have something to take care of. But you guys be careful of stray cats or bugs.”
“Are they poisonous?”
“No, but she can understand animals and insects. Some of them have gained human-level intelligence by being around her. They don’t speak, but their IQ is no different from humans. In other words, it’s like surveillance.”
“Got it. But for me, the more species I understand, the better.”
“I’ll help you guys buy some sweets to bring as a gift. After all, it’s your first time meeting her.”
“Thanks. But what are you guys going to deal with?”
“Eve and I had a telepathic discussion earlier. If we follow my mother’s fusion method, me, Eve, Elu, Ren, and Alexander fuse together, it won’t just destroy the solar system — the whole galaxy could turn to dust in an instant. And tonight, we’re going to try fusion!”
“……”
Lin found it quite interesting. If they fused, their power could indeed conquer the world. But if it resulted in a new personality, who knows what could happen.
“Should I consider it too? Your Majesty, wanna give it a try?”
“Sure! Experiencing godly moves is an honor.”
“Your Majesty is right.”
Lin genuinely admired divine powers — it was thanks to them that everyone came together.
After finishing their shopping, Lin and the others followed the address Anyue sent. But as they walked down a path, Bella noticed two stray cats running past her. Bella looked carefully — the moment they ran past, the cats’ eyes were clearly watching her.
“Lin, do cats usually stare at people?”
“I’m not sure either, but I like fat orange cats. I remember Mom said they bring wealth.”
“Wealth?”
“Like making a lot of money and having a better life.”
“Got it.”
“According to the GPS, we’re only 300 meters away. Let’s meet her and then head home. What about you, Nocker?”
“I’m fine hanging out with you guys. I’ve long since dropped out of school, so no worries.”
“Is dropping out really not a big deal?”
“It’s fine. I was expelled for fighting too much, but don’t underestimate me. I actually had good grades. Finding a job now wouldn’t be hard.”
“Job… Maybe I should just be a witch or a demon lord!”
“You want to rule the world?”
“My biggest goal is pleasure — having fun. Anyone who dares piss me off usually ends up in a bad spot.”
“Good thing we get along now.”
“Having you as a sidekick isn’t bad. At least I’ve got someone to hang with.”
After a while, they arrived at an apartment complex, in front of Building 3.
“According to Anyue, it’s here — Unit 605 on the 6th floor. I wonder if the cake we brought will please the immortal.”
Lin rang the doorbell. A few seconds later, a voice responded.
“Who is it?”
“Friends of Anyue, just here to visit.”
“Then come on up.”
When they got to the door, a girl in white pajamas opened it, yawning as she looked at Lin.
But Lin and Silin were immediately captivated — the girl was unbelievably cute, with long white hair and golden eyes. Bella, however, felt uneasy.
The girl smiled.
“Welcome, welcome. It’s been a while since I’ve had visitors. Come on in.”
Inside, it was just a normal living room. Then the girl conjured a few cups of red tea on the table.
“Drink up. It’s a special tea from our clan. It has no name, but the taste is pretty good.”
“Thanks!”
Lin took a sip and found it tasted like pineapple.
“How’s the taste?”
“The pineapple flavor is great! Oh, and we brought you this cake as a gift.”
“That’s not necessary. It’s been ages since humans visited me. But one of your friends seems to be a dragon?”
“Probably. How do you know?”
“Instinct. Like how even vicious dogs won’t bark at a human-form dragon. They’re afraid of being eaten.”
“Amazing!”
“Not really. But what’s with that evil aura around you?”
“It’s natural — the power I use to protect my little sister.”
“I see. My name’s Yuhai. I’m the head fox spirit. Earlier, one of my clones sensed your presence at the mall. But since you’re Anyue’s friends, are you here to play with me?”
“Play what?”
“Pranks, of course! Like using invisibility to sneak into a ramen shop and drop a super spicy pill into someone’s bowl. Watch them eat it — the spice will be thrilling!”
“Is that your usual hobby?”
“Yep. I have a lot more tricks. Especially in the bath — I once used magic to put all the men and women together. The awkwardness made me laugh so hard.”
“Are you a fox demon?”
Nocker commented sarcastically, but Yuhai didn’t mind.
“Better watch out, or this fox demon will sneak into your dreams at night and gobble you up!”
“No thanks. If that’s the case, I’ll just stay up all night.”
“You think that’ll help? I’ll just use a spell to put you to sleep. No ordinary human can resist it.”
“No wonder you’re a true immortal. But I heard your combat strength is weak, and your abilities are strong?”
“Exactly. Some of my techniques can’t even be resisted by gods. I could have become a god myself, but I gave up.”
“Why?”
“Didn’t Anyue tell you? Half of all gods are rotten. If I became one, I’d likely be bullied. Plus all the rules — I’d rather stay free as an immortal, demon lord, or witch.”
“Feels like a free little bird.”
Silin suddenly commented.
“Exactly! As a first meeting gift, let me give you a warning: besides Anyue, don’t trust any god. His mom and dad are okay though.”
“I have a question. Why did gods become like this? Aren’t they supposed to care about humans?”
“Far from it. Most of them are arrogant and look down on lower beings. Even if you beat them, they get pissed. Reminds me of this girl in heaven — always puffed up like a little pufferfish when mad.”
“You guys use ‘pufferfish’ too?”
“Depends. Some people just get mad when they’re losing. Puffed-up and super cute, especially at your age — I’ve seen plenty.”
Lin was speechless.
(Good thing Her Majesty can control her temper now. Otherwise, the world would be doomed. Wait… am I also a little pufferfish? Guess I do puff up when mad.)
“You don’t want to destroy the world, right?”
“At your age, probably not. You’re more into money and games, not world destruction. What’s your name?”
“Silin.”
“Sounds familiar. Your face too.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
“Alright! Then let’s play a game.”
“What game?”
“A fight for you, but a game for me. If any one of you can crack my tricks, I’ll give you all a skill. The challenge is whether mortals can break through my techniques.”
“If just one of us wins, you’ll give the skill to everyone?”
“Correct.”
Yuhai grinned slyly.
But Lin was on high alert. Based on what Liyame said, this girl was a true ability user — dangerous.
“Your Majesty, should I take her on?”
“No need. Just watch. So, Yuhai, where are we fighting?”
“Right here!”
Suddenly, the scene shifted to a vast grassy plain, and Nocker was stunned.
“Amazing!”
“Silin, what do you think of this place?”
Silin looked around — endless grassland stretched in all directions.
“Is this a prairie?”
“No, this is an alternate world created by the evil god Dark Shadow. It’s made specifically for sparring and training. Only a handful of gods and immortals are allowed to use it.”
“Seems like there are really a lot of powerful beings.”
“By the way, can you fly?”
“All of us can.”
(Nocker probably can too, right?)
“Then let’s head up into the sky.”
Right after saying that, Yuhai changed into a red-and-white shrine maiden outfit, with two fox ears popping out of her head and a large white tail appearing behind her.
Silin also transformed into her Herrscher form, which made Yuhai find her even more familiar.
“The more I look at you, the more familiar you seem. But I just can’t remember where I’ve seen you.”
“Don’t worry about that — instead, show me some of your moves. Let’s see if I can break them.”
“Alright. Then I’m going to attack.”
“Bring it on!”
Yuhai’s tail swayed a few times, and Silin suddenly felt something hit her shoulder — it stung a bit.
It wasn’t very painful, but definitely noticeable.
“Can I attack too?”
Yuhai didn’t reply — she just nodded slightly.
“Then here I come!”
Silin conjured a Void Spear in her right hand and hurled it hard toward Yuhai.
But just as it was about to hit Yuhai, the spear suddenly veered off course and hit the ground to the right.
“What the?!… Aah!”
This time, Silin was suddenly blasted away about 10 meters. Yuhai just smiled as she watched her.
“Need a hint?”
“No! Let me try again.”
On the ground, Bella had figured something out.
“Rin, did you see the attack?”
“No, Yuhai was just wagging her tail.”
“But I saw it. Maybe it’s because my eyes have ultra dynamic vision unlike yours.”
“What kind of attack? I couldn’t see anything. Her Majesty just got blown away.”
“There are about twelve ping-pong ball-sized orbs around her, flying at high speed — too fast for the naked eye to track.”
“So that’s why the Void Spear veered off?”
“Exactly! The gods said she’s a true ability user. Even if someone’s more powerful than her, they’d still get countered.”
“Then we…”
“It’s okay. I believe in Her Majesty.”
Silin also started recalling that moment when the Void Spear was deflected — she clearly heard a collision sound.
(No choice. Time to use a stronger move.)
Electricity surged from Silin’s right hand, and she shot a bolt of lightning toward Yuhai.
Just as she expected, something in the air got vaporized along with the lightning blast.
But then something unexpected happened — Yuhai raised her palm and absorbed the lightning.
“Absorbed?!”
“Here, take it back!”
Yuhai fired the lightning back from her hand. Silin quickly summoned a portal — the lightning entered it and emerged behind Yuhai, striking her and causing an explosion.
Rin clapped.
“As expected from Her Majesty! The Herrscher of the Void is as amazing as the legends say!”
“Of course — she’s our queen after all.”
But when the smoke cleared, Yuhai was completely unharmed. Not even a speck of dust, not a wrinkle in her clothes. She actually looked thrilled.
“So you can use subspace portals too?”
“Huh?”
A portal appeared beside Yuhai, and her right hand punched into it — instantly slamming into Silin’s back from behind.
“Ahhh!”
Silin turned her head and realized there was a portal behind her — a fist had hit her in the back. She clutched her back in pain.
“Ow! Didn’t think you knew that move too.”
“Of course. I’ve mastered over ten thousand techniques — space-type skills are nothing.”
“Just curious — was that full strength?”
“Nope. I adjusted the force based on your attack power.”
“No wonder. It hurt, but not too badly.”
“That’s because I held back. But next, your energy is mine.”
“Huh? …!”
Silin suddenly couldn’t move. Yuhai darted forward and locked lips with her. Silin tried to resist but couldn’t — her strength and stamina were quickly draining.
Rin and Nocker were both annoyed.
Nocker & Rin: That’s what we wanted to do.
Bella, however, was speechless.
“I admire you both, but Her Majesty’s energy is dropping fast.”
High above, Yuhai finally let go. Silin stood gasping for air.
“What kind of battle move is that? So annoying.”
“It absorbs energy and stamina — converts it into mine. But your energy makes me feel uncomfortable, so I didn’t take much.”
“That’s because my power isn’t something you can control.”
(Honkai energy is dangerous. But during that kiss… I hated it, but not really. Why was it kind of addictive?)
Silin glanced at Rin and blushed slightly.
“Silin, you weren’t going all out, were you? Not even 5%?”
“Most of my moves don’t use much energy. That spear earlier was just a small flick of power.”
“No wonder you’re friends with the god of the underworld. Then I’ll give you all three of my skills.”
“Let’s hear them.”
“The first one is the one I used on you — energy drain with just a thought…”
“Kinda gross. Your tongue was all over inside my mouth.”
“Sorry, just a little habit of mine. The second is super regeneration — any wound can instantly heal.”
“Sounds great. So even a fatal wound can recover quickly if I’m not dead?”
“Exactly. And it also dispels curses and negative effects. Even cursed weapons won’t work on you.”
“That does sound useful, especially for my friends. What’s the third skill?”
“Language mastery. With this, your brain will instantly know every language in the world — read, speak, understand. Even in another world, you can quickly learn their language.”
“Thanks a lot!”
“No problem. I’ll go tell your friends and give them the abilities. But there’s one condition.”
“Is it difficult?”
“Very simple — next time you come, bring me some fried tofu. Or maybe add some into old duck vermicelli soup.”
“I’ll remember that. Is fried tofu that good?”
“Absolutely. If I don’t eat it for a day, I feel all weird.”
“Alright, next time I’ll bring some. Let’s head back down now.”
Later, Yuhai gave the three abilities to everyone — but she kissed each of them on the mouth to do it. Silin said getting kissed was fine if she got three powers in return.
But Rin and Nocker were especially annoyed. They knew Silin hadn’t been properly educated, so she was clueless in many ways — basically a total innocent.
After saying goodbye to Yuhai, everyone returned to Rin’s house.
“Hey, Your Majesty, did that little fox girl tongue-kiss you too?”
“She was licking all around inside my mouth?”
“Pretty much. But her energy drain technique isn’t as good as mine. The super regeneration is the real deal, especially for Nocker.”
“Yeah, if we get hurt, we’ll recover right away. Same for Bella and Her Majesty.”
Bella realized it too — even she couldn’t withstand flames before.
Silin also understood how important this kind of healing ability was.
“Rin, Nocker — what should we play next?”
“Hmm… Let me think. We’ve already bought everything we needed.”
Nocker suddenly had an idea.
“How about we go hang out at the Shinjuku border area?”
“Shinjuku border?”
“I’ve been there. Lots of food stalls, and everything tastes amazing. Plus, there’s a high-end bathhouse nearby. Each little bath room has a limit on people, so you can bring friends for a soak.”
But Rin knew exactly what Nocker was thinking.
(You just want to see Her Majesty naked. I live with her, so I’ve got the advantage over you.)
“Let’s rest a bit first, then go.”
Silin agreed right away.
“Alright! I’ll get ready too!”
