Is the mummy version of the angel

Chapter 23838 words7 min read

At the central complex of the campus, the main entrance was bustling with people coming and going.

The number of eliminated students had suddenly surged, and they were all being transferred to non-scoring zones.

Inside the control room, several administrators stared at the monitors, their brows slowly furrowing.

“What’s going on? A terminal signal just dropped? Why is there one person missing?”

They were responsible for monitoring the competition site and tracking student locations, updating the data every three minutes.

But nine minutes ago, a signal suddenly disappeared.

There was a knock at the door.

One person got up to open it and saw the blonde-haired President standing outside, her expression grim.

Karine raised her head.

Her voice, usually calm and unhurried, now unknowingly carried a trace of concern.

“Have you noticed anything unusual?”

The staff immediately nodded and ushered her in, opening the school’s archive database and location records.

By cross-referencing the latest data, they pulled up the file of the missing student—white hair, glacial-blue eyes, and a gentle smile like that of an angel.

A face that was no stranger to the campus forums and current trending live streams.

Karine’s heart sank.

She quickly memorized the time and last location of Wang Ning’s signal before decisively striding out the door.

“Ahhh! It’s President Karine!”

“Hello, President!”

“Lady Karine, c-could I get your autograph? I’ve always admired you so much!”

The commotion drew attention.

When people saw Karine, they surged toward her, excited and eager, crowding the path and blocking her anxious steps.

“Could you please make a little room, everyone? I’m dealing with something urgent… mm-hmm, thank you for your support. An autograph? Maybe just wait a moment, okay?”

Karine spoke while gently pushing her way through the crowd.

Under normal circumstances, she would have worn a bright smile and warmly responded to the admiration, letting everyone see the approachable side of Princess Karine.

…But this was not the time.

Her mother had once taught her: as the royal heir of the Ulysses Empire, she must remain dignified and restrained, keeping a clear boundary from commoners.

Otherwise, those lunatics would continuously exploit her kindness, trample her bottom line, and shamelessly demand her time, money, and even hinder her forward progress.

But she had never taken those words to heart.

Or rather, she enjoyed wasting her time on trivial things.

It allowed her to find a little joy in her otherwise dull life.

She had never cared about the distinctions between royalty, nobles, and commoners.

Who really cared whether someone preferred weeds or garden flowers?

Boring all the same.

But the result of that reckless generosity was the boundless, ungraspable pursuit she now faced.

A fervent and irrational adoration that had now become an obstacle in her path.

Her vision was filled with chaos, the crowd pressing close enough to blur into one mass.

She opened her mouth to speak, but couldn’t hear her own voice.

A sharp hum buzzed in her ears, and it felt like she was about to get lost in the crowd.

But in that dizzy moment, a flash of white hair surfaced in her mind.

Clarity struck.

Suddenly, she grabbed the hand of the person blocking her path.

The other person froze, then blushed in excitement.

“P-President… Lady Karine, I…”

The next moment, they saw Karine’s gentle smile tilt slightly.

She lowered her eyes to the girl, then let her gaze sweep over the crowd.

Her soft voice rang in everyone’s ears.

“This little fan chase game can wait until later, okay?”

A sharp pain shot through the girl’s wrist as Karine flung her aside without effort.

The crowd fell into sudden silence.

Some people even widened their eyes in shock.

“Good. Seems like everyone agrees.”

Karine took a step forward.

This time, everyone instinctively parted to the sides.

No one dared block her again.

They simply watched as her figure moved past them, vanishing into the distance.

Clouds drifted across the gradually darkening sky.

The air grew humid.

The earthy scent of grass and soil began to spread.

At the school gates—a place where anyone could theoretically sneak in or out—most “trespassers” would never choose this route.

Unless they were absolutely out of options.

Wang Ning stared at the two people who had “kidnapped” her.

She held it in once.

Held it in again.

Until finally, she couldn’t take it anymore.

“Can’t you two think of a normal way to leave?!”

Rinyue widened her eyes.

“Eh? Isn’t this a good method? How could it not be?!”

“Pretending to be parents escorting a sick student—doesn’t that strike you as the least bit wrong?!”

“This plan is amazing, okay?! Right, Rindong?”

“…”

Wang Ning tore off the bandages that had nearly wrapped her whole body like a mummy and shouted in utter despair.

“Who the heck gets injured and ends up wrapped like this?! You’re sending me straight to the ICU at this point!”
