[Specialist Psychological Advisor – Yang Yuan’s Office]
“Am I really doing this…?”
Yang Yuan sat on the leather sofa, staring up at the ceiling with a long, heavy sigh.
“A psychological counselor? I can barely understand myself—how am I supposed to guide others?”
But he knew this was part of his agreement with the Prophet, Luo Jinghong. It was a necessary step on the path to changing Su Xiaoyou’s “death future.”
With no other options, Yang Yuan had no choice but to push forward, even if it meant faking it.
He picked up the tablet on the desk and opened his work schedule. A series of appointment notifications popped up.

[…]
Yang Yuan was surprised. He hadn’t expected so many visitors for his newly established department—his schedule was already packed into the afternoon.
What he didn’t know was that after the rumor—”the new counselor is a super hot young guy”—spread through the heroes’ internal chat groups, countless young female heroes had rushed to book appointments, each with their own hidden motives.
Meanwhile, a certain Saintess who had once dismissed “psychological counseling” as useless was now huddled inside a bathroom stall, furiously tapping her phone screen with near-rage.
On the screen, Yang Yuan’s appointment calendar was completely grayed out, labeled: [All time slots today are fully booked].
“What the hell… what the hell is this?! Damn it!”
Li Yu’an clutched her phone, her forehead pressed against the cold partition, regretting not finding out sooner.
The thought of Yang Yuan laughing and chatting with other female heroes right now made her chest tighten.
She knew she couldn’t stay like this. Li Yu’an took a deep breath, her eyes regaining determination.
No appointment? Then she’d create a reason—one that didn’t need booking, one that let her stay with Yang Yuan.
……
“So… it’s like… even though you raised your shield, you still feel the bullet piercing through it and hitting your heart directly?”
In the office, Yang Yuan leaned forward, using the gentlest tone he could to guide the short-haired girl sitting across from him—strong on the outside, but with fear flickering in her eyes.
Shield Maiden, Wang Xiaoya, hugged a sofa cushion tightly and nodded.
“Yes… my ability, [Absolute Barrier], didn’t fail. I protected all my teammates.”
“But… I keep having that nightmare over and over.”
“That’s a classic post-traumatic stress response. It doesn’t mean you’re weak—in fact, it shows you have an extraordinary sense of responsibility.”
Yang Yuan affirmed her first, then began guiding her gently.
“We can think of it this way…”
Time passed. Under Yang Yuan’s patient guidance, Wang Xiaoya’s tense body finally relaxed. She set the cushion aside and smiled, visibly relieved.
“Thank you so much, Counselor Yang! Really, thank you!”
With a sincere bow, Wang Xiaoya left the consultation room.
Hearing such heartfelt gratitude, Yang Yuan actually felt a bit of pressure. He hadn’t done anything special—just listened and responded naturally. Yet he was being treated like a savior.
As he waited for the next visitor, debating whether to sneak in a bathroom break, a knock came at the door.
Yang Yuan checked the schedule. The next appointment wasn’t for another twenty minutes.
“Who could it be?”
Curious but polite, he called out, “Come in.”
After lingering outside for who knew how long, Li Yu’an finally stepped in, carrying a small, elegant potted plant.
“Hello. I heard the Hero Center recently established a new psychological counseling department.”
“As a healing-type hero, I came to pay a visit.”
She placed the plant on Yang Yuan’s desk, then feigned surprise perfectly.
“Oh? It’s you, Yang Yuan!”
Her acting was so flawless, it was a crime she hadn’t won an Oscar.
But Yang Yuan didn’t see through it. He simply nodded calmly.
“What a coincidence.”
“Yes… what a coincidence,” Li Yu’an echoed.
“How did you end up working here as a counselor? I don’t remember you having a license.”
“No choice. Nepotism.”
Yang Yuan shrugged, half-joking. But he was slightly puzzled—how did she know he didn’t have a license?
After a brief chat, he assumed she’d leave like a normal visitor.
But Li Yu’an showed no intention of leaving. Instead, she sat down right beside him—not across, but *next* to him.
This distance was far beyond normal social boundaries.
“You… want a counseling session too?”
“No, my mind is perfectly fine.”
Li Yu’an shook her head and delivered a reason Yang Yuan couldn’t possibly refuse.
“But as a healing hero, I’ve only ever treated physical wounds.”
“So I’d like to stay and observe—maybe I’ll gain some inspiration to improve my abilities.”
“Just treat me like a silent cushion… or that motionless plant on your desk.”
The explanation was flawless—showing her dedication as a hero while placing herself in a passive, harmless role. There was no way Yang Yuan could ask her to leave.
Minute by minute, they chatted casually.
But Li Yu’an grew impatient. She’d said to treat her like a cushion—so why wasn’t he hugging her already?
“Since you’re here, can you handle the next visitor? I need to use the restroom.”
“Oh… sure.”
Alone in the men’s restroom, the absolute privacy finally let Yang Yuan’s tense nerves relax.
Just as he unzipped and began relieving himself, a girl in a green hanfu burst in.
Most striking was the long sword on her back, wrapped tightly in cloth.
Her traditional attire clashed bizarrely with the modern restroom.
Seeing a man and a row of urinals, the girl froze in panic.
“Oh no… I walked into the men’s restroom! Should I scream and run out?”
“No… that’d be too pathetic. I have no choice but to proceed.”
Before Yang Yuan could speak, her mind had already raced through a series of dramatic conclusions.
She took a deep breath, her eyes turning sharp and cold—as if the panicked girl moments ago had never existed.
“Failure! I did not anticipate this vile gender-based barrier! My misstep was but a trial set by fate upon me!”
Yang Yuan: “…”
The girl seemed oblivious to his deadpan expression, still deep in her own delusional monologue.
“There’s no security here, but I can call them up,” Yang Yuan finally interrupted.
“Will you come with me now, or do I have them come get you?”
At the word “security,” the girl’s mental defenses shattered.
She grabbed Yang Yuan’s sleeve, voice trembling with tears.
“Please don’t call them… I don’t want to go to jailðŸ˜.”
