An unfamiliar world.

An unfamiliar building.

Unfamiliar faces.

My head throbbed from the relentless tide of visual information.

I wondered if this bizarre phenomenon unfolding before my eyes was a shameful daydream born from my desire for a dramatic change in my mundane life.

Or was it the harsh, unavoidable reality?

I hoped it was the former.

It was true that the embarrassing fantasies I’d occasionally entertained had manifested into reality, but this wasn’t the form I’d desired.
