The creatures drifting through higher dimensions, revealed only under the observation of the Super-large Star Ring, could be forced out of those hidden realms the moment its powerful Interference Field was activated.
“Xingyu, take your squad and hold that sector!”
Without hesitation, Xingyu led her team to the designated coordinates, prioritizing the elimination of the exposed dimensional beasts first.
“Large-scale Linked Magic! Initiate!”
“Magic Type Alpha! Constructing Large-scale Linked Formation. Estimated time to completion: 17 seconds.”
Multiple squads of magical girls divided into coordinated strike groups, each activating their own Large-scale Linked Magic. The scene was grand, something inland magical girls rarely witnessed. The tension was so palpable, several nearly lost control.
Once the preparations were completed, Xingyu gave a cold order.
“Take out the ones that’ve already surfaced. Unit One, that’s your task.”
“Yes, ma’am!”
The Wangyue-class Super-large Star Ring emitted a force field far stronger than any smaller ring, instantly dragging the dimensional beasts out of their higher-dimensional concealment.
The moment they fell from the higher dimension into the real world was when they were at their weakest.
And that was the perfect opportunity to strike.
“Attack!”
A barrage of Linked Magic surged forward, mercilessly striking the exposed beasts.
“Clear!”
In less than three minutes, the cross-boundary dimensional beasts were completely annihilated.
“Excellent. Hold position. This Tidal Surge is going to be—wait, what…?!”
Xingyu froze mid-sentence, eyes fixed on the far end of the Sea of Realms gate.
One after another, new dimensional beasts emerged from the endless ocean, breaching the surface.
Roughly sixty of them, just from visual estimation.
Had it stopped there, it wouldn’t have been too surprising. They’d seen worse.
But—
“They’re materializing directly in the real world?!” The front-line magical girls, including Xingyu, shouted in unison.
Typically, dimensional beasts only appeared in higher dimensions. Without being forced out, humans couldn’t even engage them—and the beasts, in turn, couldn’t interfere with reality.
If this second wave had stayed in the higher dimension, Xingyu and her team could have tackled them in small waves, dragging them out one by one and dealing with them in manageable batches.
By her calculations, their current formation could handle about twenty dimensional beasts at once—assuming no dragon-class appeared.
But now—all sixty had manifested directly into the real world.
This meant they’d have to face the full horde at once—far beyond the interception capacity of their current force.
“They’re panicking!” Feiyu shouted. “It’s like something’s chasing them up here!”
“There’s no time to worry about that now. Report it to Command. Hold as many as you can! Request immediate reinforcement from nearby Ten Seats!”
Meanwhile, on the Wangyue-class Super-large Star Ring, the observation crew were calmly relaying updates.
“Energy fluctuation reading… red level! Three are King-class! Twenty-seven are Oni-class! The rest are standard!”
The report from the Command Center chilled Xingyu to the core.
Three King-class—those were manageable if they deployed all elite units.
But twenty-seven Oni-class?
If even a handful of them breached into the cities, the destruction would be catastrophic.
“Has the Large-scale Linked Barrier spell been readied?! We need to pull their aggro and contain them here!”
“Ready!”
“Activate!”
In an instant, a massive purple barrier resembling a honeycomb wall surged up along the Sea of Realms perimeter, trapping the dimensional beasts within.
But that also meant—the magical girls were now surrounded, facing dozens of high-level beasts alone.
It was a dangerous gamble, a true test of endurance against overwhelming odds.
[We can barely hold out… We don’t need to kill them all. Just hold the line until reinforcements arrive…] Xingyu calmed herself slightly with that thought.
One Ten Seat could turn the tide alone. If even one arrived, morale and survival chances would skyrocket.
The call for aid had already been sent.
Teleportation magic would take ten minutes.
All they had to do was endure for ten minutes.
But just as Xingyu began stabilizing their defense—another shift threw her into despair.
“New energy reading from the Sea of Realms! Fluctuation index: 53,000! Dragon-class detected!”
Dragon-class?
Xingyu’s face went pale.
The waters of the Sea of Realms erupted violently as a colossal creature with iron wings surged onto the shore.
Unlike the Oni-class beasts, this one didn’t charge mindlessly.
It paused, surveying the field, a glint of intelligence in its eyes.
Then it turned its gaze toward the weakest point in their barrier.
Its eyes flared with a metallic gleam—
SLASH!
The Linked Defense Spell formed by over two dozen magical girls was cleaved apart, leaving a massive breach.
Over a dozen dimensional beasts slipped through before they could react.
“Damn it!”
Xingyu knew—if this thing made it to the civilian zones, it would cause more destruction than all twenty-seven Oni-class combined.
She didn’t hesitate.
She dashed forward to block its advance.
“Xingyu-sama, I’m with you!” A teammate moved to follow.
“Stay back!” Xingyu shouted. “We’re barely holding as is. If you come, we’ll collapse completely!”
“But—!”
“I can handle it!”
With that, Xingyu shot forward, breaking off from her unit to give chase.
The escaping Oni-class beasts were left behind.
She locked eyes on the dragon-class monster.
“Stop right there!”
A brilliant arc of magical energy surged from her palm, striking the creature and initiating a full-blown battle.
The dragon-class beast was unlike anything she’d ever faced.
Its very form boiled with Sea of Realms material, forcing Xingyu into constant retreat.
She was clearly outmatched.
Their fight soon spilled into the Jiuming Sea region.
[The Pillar of Mind Projection—I used it earlier in the Sea of Realms. It won’t activate again now!]
Xingyu suddenly remembered what Xingyue had warned her of before.
Her heart sank.
If she had access to that ability now, she could turn this battle in seconds.
But she’d wasted it—against Herrera—and hadn’t even scratched her.
“There are still people who haven’t made it to the shelters…”
Xingyu’s sharp eyes scanned the streets of Jiuming Sea.
Civilians were still out—caught off guard by the sudden escalation.
Worse yet, the dozen beasts that slipped past the breach were now rampaging unchecked through the district.
No one had time to stop them.
Devastation was already unfolding.
Her heart clenched—so many were going to die.
But then—
As the battle raged—
She realized something horrifying:
The fight was drifting closer and closer to her own home.
[Did Liyun evacuate yet?]
Xingyu couldn’t help but worry.
“Sis!”
?!
That voice nearly shattered Xingyu’s focus.
She whipped her head toward the upper floor of her building.
And there—her little sister was being pinned against the wall by Herrera, engaged in unspeakable acts.
…Huh?
