When Wang Ning entered the airship, she saw that the interior was clean and silver-white, laid out like a laboratory.
Immediately, a person in a white coat saw her and nodded—wait, Dr. Ruixi?!
The shock on Wang Ning’s face was very obvious.
“Dr. Ruixi”—Dr. Ella—said gently, “Are you very surprised, Student Wang Ning?… Alright, I understand.”
“Let me introduce you. This is Dr. Ella,” Rin Yue appeared behind her, her hands on Wang Ning’s shoulders.
Her fluffy head also peeked out from the side, her hair tickling the inside of her collar.
One of her hands moved restlessly, sliding down her arm and pinching Wang Ning’s wrist. It seemed to want to press against her skin but was blocked by the tightly buttoned cuff. It could only pause for a moment, and she complained, “I hate your school uniforms. That feeling of being completely wrapped up is like a mummy covered in bandages. And the only colors are black, blue, and white.”
Wang Ning: “…”
She tried to struggle, but Rin Yue’s strength, though seemingly light, was like a coiling snake, extremely difficult to break free from.
“What do you want from me, going to all this trouble to find me?” Wang Ning took a deep breath and calmed down.
Dr. Ruixi… no, Dr. Ella said, “I don’t know what the others’ missions are, but my mission is to give you a physical examination and take some samples—”
“Wait, what do you mean by ‘some samples’?” Wang Ning’s face was filled with horror. Her reaction was so strong that Rin Yue, who was resting on her shoulder, almost slipped off.
“Just your arms, hands, and heart, liver, gallbladder…” Rin Yue’s voice echoed幽幽 in her ear.
Wang Ning: ‘Ah… huh? Ahh!!’
Her eyes went dead for a moment. As Rin Yue’s words veered further into censored territory, her heartbeat also slowed down—if Rin Dong hadn’t interrupted, she might have performed an on-the-spot death.
“Stop scaring her,” Rin Dong appeared from the side and looked at her. “It’s just simple samples like blood.”
“It won’t kill you,” she said lightly.
Wang Ning felt… even more in danger.
‘What kind of company is this?!’
Dr. Ella watched the twins’ coordinated act and sighed internally.
The twins’ mission success rate was always the highest in the organization, but this time, it had taken them several failures to complete it.
Not to mention, their level of contact and concern for this white-haired pure human was really… beyond the scope of the organization’s regulations.
However, as a subordinate facing a superior of a much higher rank, she wisely chose to “see nothing.”
A voice crackling with static suddenly came from the communicator. Her expression turned serious, then, following the other’s words, a look of confusion appeared. She said to Rin Yue, “Archive says to let the ‘Angel’ enter the control room.”
‘But who is the “Angel”? Is there anyone with that codename in the organization?’
“Angel?” Wang Ning stopped struggling, the shadow of that word looming in her heart.
The twins, however, both raised an eyebrow at the same time and looked at Wang Ning.
Wang Ning: “…What are you looking at me for? My name isn’t ‘Angel’.”
—In the end, she was still pushed into a dim room.
Watching Wang Ning enter the control room, Rin Yue let out a “pfft” of laughter. Cupping her chin, she said to Rin Dong, “She was so cute just now. Wouldn’t she be even cuter if she cried?”
“Next time, I’m going to put the clothes for ‘Luoluo’ on her instead.” Luoluo was a toy doll that Rin Yue was very fond of.
“However, I don’t like that school uniform,” after saying that, she bit her nails, thinking hard, oblivious even when she drew blood. Finally, after much thought, her eyes lit up. “Then I can just have her wear my clothes!”
This idea was so brilliant that it made her impatient. She said, annoyed, “When is she coming out? I want to take her to my little house.”
As she spoke, she glanced at Rin Dong and pouted. “She definitely doesn’t like you.”
Rin Dong was wearing a black, form-fitting tactical suit, a stark contrast to her sister’s flamboyant Lolita dress. She couldn’t be bothered with Rin Yue’s words and looked out the window.
The black helicopter below was not leaving, and another black helicopter was constantly approaching.
She lowered her eyes and put on a pair of black, fingerless tactical gloves. From the black garter on her thigh, she pulled out a gun and said, “They will most likely come up later.”
“Get ready to ‘talk’,” her voice was faint.
But Rin Yue was uninterested. She glanced lazily out the window. The activity that usually thrilled her couldn’t pique her interest at this moment. Her mind was now full of playing “Miracle Ningning.”
“Get up,” Rin Dong kicked her sister’s foot.
“Ah—hate it, hate it, hate it, so annoying!” Rin Yue jumped up from her seat in frustration.
“She’s already ours. Why do people always want to snatch her away?” she muttered to herself, pulling out a black and gold dagger, her violet eyes darkening to a deep black.
“I hate you too,” Rin Yue suddenly moved close to Rin Dong, like a phantom, and pointed the tip of the dagger at her neck. There was a jet-black choker there, giving off an ascetic and murderous aura—but in the very center was a hollowed-out silver kitten, instantly softening the atmosphere.
Rin Yue saw it and, as if interested, moved the tip of her dagger towards the little cat, but was knocked away by Rin Dong’s gun.
The sister in black took a step back, a hint of displeasure in her eyes. She said to her, “Don’t touch it.”
“Ah,” Rin Yue wasn’t angry. Instead, she smiled. “This little thing looks so familiar. It’s like on Ningning—”
A silver light flashed past her ear, leaving a small black hole in the wall behind her.
“Sister,” Rin Yue tilted her head, not minding the gunshot, her smile gradually fading. “…When?”
“Let’s go,” Rin Dong avoided her question and walked past her without a second glance.
But the dagger was already at her neck, its killing intent undisguised. Behind her came that sweet but frozen voice, “Sister, you’ve broken the rules.”
“Or have you forgotten the instructor’s words—do you need me to remind you?”
Rin Dong turned her head. With her movement, the extremely sharp dagger easily drew a line of blood on the white snow of her skin, but her expression was as usual, calm and devoid of excess emotion.
[“Maintain synchronization to survive.”
The instructor looked at the two people who were like mirror images and exclaimed in amazement, “Your synchronization rate is infinitely close to one hundred percent.”
In a room separated by a partition, with an identical layout, the two “test subjects” turned to look at her at the same time. Through the glass panel, their one dark and one light purple eyes were equally indifferent, their faces splattered with blood. Then, they released the dead “failed product” in their hands and stood up at the same time.
—Like a mirror-reversed image.
“Whether it’s small movements, killing techniques, or the next predicted action… it can be said to be perfectly synchronized!” a fanatical smile appeared on the instructor’s face.
The research staff standing next to her recorded the data, occasionally glancing at them. A rare smile appeared on their usually expressionless faces.
“The experiment was a great success.”
The instructor stared intently at her masterpiece and murmured, “No, no, no, there’s still a difference.”
She looked at their eyes—there were still genetic differences. The two had the same purple eyes, but one was dark and one was light. A detail that would normally go unnoticed had become a glaring presence under this perfect synchronization.]
The communicator suddenly vibrated urgently, sounding particularly sharp in the stagnant atmosphere.
Rin Dong retracted her gaze, and Rin Yue also withdrew her dagger. The fractured aura between the two suddenly became harmonious, like a shattered puzzle that had been quickly put back together.
Rin Yue answered the communication in a lighthearted tone. “Hi hi hi, this is Rin Yue’s little radio station. What would you like to ask?”
There was silence on the other end, and then a single sentence was spoken.
Her eyes curved into crescents. She watched the drop of blood on the dagger slide down the smooth blade and fall, and the snow-bright blade became spotless again, reflecting her cold eyes.
“Is that so? Then you can come and try. Let’s see if you can snatch her away.”
