Although Letia had made it sound so serious, in truth it was nothing more than acting on impulse.
What was supposed to be a simple check turned into her pushing Lily too far.
She didn’t use violence like before, but Lily’s pride took a heavy blow.
In the end, Letia even gave herself a lofty excuse.
Looking at Letia, clothes disheveled, Lily felt no excitement at all.
She only thought Letia was hateful—clearly, she just wanted revenge.
Lily pulled the blanket over her bare body, glaring unhappily at Letia.
Letia, on the other hand, closed her eyes, savoring the moment as if recalling a taste.
“It seems a little plain, not sweet at all.”
“I’m not fruit—why would I be sweet!”
“Still, the quality seems reliable.”
“Oh, what a relief!”
“Then I’ll grant you the right to nurse Emi.”
“I already had that right to begin with!”
They were like two parallel lines that would never meet.
Their values had never been the same, and now with more misunderstandings, the conflict only deepened.
Lily didn’t intend to explain herself.
She just wanted to get back at Letia—Letia’s frustration would be her own joy.
If she couldn’t get revenge directly, then she would strike on a mental level.
Whenever Letia brought this up, Lily would confront her outright, letting her taste humiliation in spirit.
Even if it meant Letia might press her in ways Lily disliked.
The thought of Letia’s furious expression, however, made Lily feel secretly satisfied.
Ever since Emi was born, Lily had wanted to fulfill her duty as a mother.
She thought the chance might never come, but since Letia couldn’t feed her, that chance had finally arrived.
Soon, Lily entered Emi’s room.
Emi was awake, blinking her innocent big eyes and reaching out her chubby hands toward her.
She was too cute—Lily couldn’t resist scooping her into her arms.
Looking at her daughter nestled close, Lily felt happiness welling up inside her.
“Emilia, did you miss Mommy?”
“Ma… ma…”
“Oh my! So adorable—you even know I’m Mommy!”
Lily looked at Letia with joy, but Letia only kept a stern face.
That was when Lily remembered—they were enemies.
How could she share happiness with Letia?
Her heart sank a little, but just seeing her daughter healthy and lively was enough.
“You must be hungry. Mommy will feed you now!”
Lily sat down on the bed, preparing herself, only to notice Letia staring straight at her.
Lily puffed up her cheeks, glaring back, while Letia returned the stare with disdain.
“I’m going to feed the baby… can you at least look away?”
“Why should I?”
“Because I can’t stand you!” Lily shouted.
“You already checked, so there’s no need to keep staring. Just go do something else!”
“No. You have to feed her in front of me.”
“What? Why!”
“Because I don’t trust you. I can’t risk you harming the child.”
“How could I possibly hurt my own daughter!”
Lily truly couldn’t understand Letia’s thinking.
Even if the two of them were enemies, their disputes should never affect the next generation.
As Lily raised her voice, Emi began crying again.
Though still a baby, she could sense the tension and cried to ease the heavy mood between them.
“Emi, I’m sorry. Did Mommy scare you?”
Lily patted her daughter’s back gently.
Emi stopped crying almost immediately, even smiling at her, seeming wiser than her age.
Letia came closer, checking Emi’s face with concern.
She didn’t say anything, but it was obvious she also loved her daughter deeply.
For a moment, Lily and Letia locked eyes—then both looked away at the same time.
“If you want to watch, then fine. You’ve already seen enough anyway.”
Emi looked expectant, clearly very hungry, and Lily’s heart ached.
Her daughter came first, so if Letia wanted to watch, let her.
Blushing, Lily loosened her clothing.
Her fuller chest was revealed, and she glanced nervously at Letia.
Letia’s expression remained flat, unreadable.
That was fine—Lily didn’t want any connection with her anyway.
Driven by instinct, Emi reached eagerly toward her mother.
Lily held her close, and Emi began nursing, content and happy.
Looking down at her daughter, Lily felt overwhelming joy.
She must have been starving, or she wouldn’t drink so eagerly.
It was all Letia’s fault—she had no milk herself, yet she refused to let Lily care for Emi earlier.
Lily glared at Letia, then froze in surprise.
Letia was leaning forward, staring intently at Emi with a soft smile.
Lily thought in disbelief: So she can show a gentle face too?
But Lily knew clearly—Letia’s smile was only for her daughter, not for her.
She had no wish to be connected with Letia anyway.
Noticing Lily’s gaze, Letia quickly straightened her face again.
“Fine. From now on, her meals are your responsibility.”
“They were supposed to be mine all along,” Lily muttered, “Thanks to you, Emi nearly went hungry.”
Letia paused, looking down at Emi’s little face.
She did look thinner than when she was first born, and guilt flashed across Letia’s expression.
It seemed that feeding her only with magic was never a lasting solution.
Letia herself wished she could feed her child, but biologically, it was impossible.
Her chest might look the part, but it only stored magic, not nourishment.
She found herself, oddly, a little envious of Lily.
“At least make sure you eat well so your milk is nutritious.”
“What nonsense—I’m not a cow!”
“Hmph. Cows are at least cuter than you.”
“You—! … Forget it, I won’t stoop to your level!”
Lily swallowed her anger.
She couldn’t let Emi worry about her.
She was already used to Letia’s harsh words, and there was no need to argue anymore.
As long as her daughter could eat her fill, nothing else mattered.
