Bang bang bang— the sound of the Gunner’s early skill, “Triple Shot,” rang out.

I typed a chat message toward the user who seemed like a newbie, equipped with beginner gear on what looked like a freshly made character.

[All/SoonToDie: Newbie?]

[All/Irina: ? Me?]

[All/Irina: Nah, it’s my alt.]

[All/SoonToDie: Oh, I see.]

Then I can kill you without a shred of guilt. Why didn’t you log in on your main? Stick to what you were doing. I rapidly tapped the keyboard, unleashing combo skills.

The gap between a max-level character and a new one was massive. Even without fancy combos, Gunner User 1’s character dropped dead in an instant.

[All/Irina: What the hell are you doing;]

[All/SoonToDie: No Gunners in my dictionary.]

[All/Irina: You’re a crazy bastard;;]

[All/SoonToDie: Yeah, I’m crazy—for you.]

Leaving behind Gunner User 1 spewing curses in chat, I casually moved on, scanning for the next target like a hyena on the prowl. Then, I slowly approached the second Gunner I spotted and confirmed if they were a newbie.

Unfortunately, like the previous one, it was just a veteran trying out the new class. After kindly chatting and hearing their story, I replied with an “Oh, I see,” and without hesitation, killed this Gunner too.

[All/SoonToDie: Because I’m crazy, that’s why.]

I really am crazy. Crazy from not killing enough Gunners. How can I be satisfied until I’ve wiped out every Gunner in sight? After taking down yet another Gunner, I roamed the fields like a predator in the savanna, hunting for more prey.

“Found you, prey.”

This time, I confirmed the user was a genuine newbie who joined with the recent update, not a veteran’s alt. Can’t be helped with newbies. Unlike before, I kindly initiated a trade.

I’m not lying. There really was no need to be grateful. I smiled brightly at him, who kept bowing and thanking me.

And then, using just basic combos, I killed the newbie Gunner. Feels good. Altania, are you watching? I’m avenging you with selfless devotion.

I’m not really the type to enjoy PKing, but after racking up these kills, I feel exhilarated, like I could fly. It’s like awakening to a new world, you know? Thrilling, always fresh—PKing is the best!

Lol, seriously seems crazy. What’s this guy after? Some achievement??? My guess is he’s hunting Gunners because he thinks Berserker got nerfed with the Gunner update.

“Where to next.”

Grinning, I pulled up the corners of my mouth and maneuvered my character out to the field. As soon as I entered the field, I froze at one nickname that caught my eye.

[CameToDie]

“What the? Anyone would think we coordinated nicknames.”

I clicked the mouse to check the user’s profile. Class: Gunner, level 1. This fresh-off-the-press character jumped toward me. Is “boing boing” the word for this? CameToDie kept jumping and sent a pointless emote my way.

Is he crazy? Some new kind of weirdo? Thrown off by CameToDie’s unexpected reaction, I typed a chat I don’t usually bother with.

So not just crazy, but seriously unhinged. Nodding to myself in acceptance, I tapped the keyboard to land a basic attack. No need for flashy combos on a level 1. A few basic hits would do.

The Berserker’s basic attack is three hits. The final hit downs the opponent, causing deal loss in between. To minimize deal loss and prevent skill use, I canceled after the first hit and kept landing single strikes. Soon enough, CameToDie died. Living up to the name. Satisfied, he lay there and sent another emote.

[CameToDie says you’re the best to SoonToDie.]

[All/SoonToDie: Pervert?;]

[CameToDie shakes head toward SoonToDie.]

Talk, damn it. Frustrated, pounding my chest, I took a deep breath and left. No need to linger after a kill. Better to hunt more Gunners in that time. I won’t let those bastards who killed Altania off easy. While hunting users instead of monsters in the field, he appeared again.

“Is he really insane?”

Why seek death? Isn’t time precious? Even in this trash game where PK penalty is just exp loss, it’s a waste. This time, I used a skill to kill him in one go. Leaving the downed character behind, I moved on to another target.

Kill, kill, and kill again. I watched the slain Gunners spew curses and vow revenge. Then it hit me: “What if I get banned for this?” But it’s just PKing, which the game allows—would they really ban me?

Stroking my chin, I pulled out my laptop just in case, went to the Freesia homepage, and made a new account. With familiar ease, I customized and logged into the new character, transferring all valuable items, cash items, and gold from my main.

Normally, I’d make mules on the same account, but this was prep for if the whole account got banned. After spending time moving everything, I shut the laptop with satisfaction and returned to the desktop.

“Damn, is this guy crazy? How many times now.”

CameToDie showed up again. No idea where he keeps popping from. How does he know where I am?

I mentally cursed at the guy spamming emotes and “came to die,” slapping my forehead.

They say don’t feed the trolls. Responding the first time led to this. Should’ve ignored him from the start.

At level 1, he should be busy leveling, not chasing me. Does he want to die that bad? If so, go to a hunting ground, aggro mobs, and stand still. Seeing him constantly is getting annoying. Suppressing my irritation, I teleported to a spot lowbies can’t reach. High-level field, so he can’t follow.

Of course, realizing my assumption was wrong didn’t take long.

CameToDie was way more persistent than I thought. This damn stalker! Unable to hold back, I finally pounded the keyboard in rage. Even if I kill him, I need to know why he’s doing this.
