Perhaps it was the effect of the honey wine, but Mira’s voice was a little higher than usual.
However, she had only had half a glass, not enough to make her drunk. Instead, the drink seemed to give her courage.
Letitia and Lily exchanged glances, their cheeks both faintly flushed.
Compared to Lily, Letitia’s blush was hardly noticeable. She quickly regained composure.
Although it was slightly awkward to act affectionately in front of others, she and Lily had spent so much time together that such gestures no longer fazed them.
“No problem. If showing a bit of closeness will convince you, then fine.”
“Huh?” Lily looked embarrassed, her face red. “W-what are you saying? Doing this in front of others… it’s so embarrassing!”
“Have you forgotten all the times I’ve acted this way before? Want me to remind you?”
“N-no! Why are you so shameless?”
“Quick, use some juice to refresh your lips. I like the taste of sweetness.”
“Why should I have to?”
Letitia didn’t wait for a response. She brought Lily closer, gently holding her in place.
She raised a glass, intending to add a playful touch to the moment.
Lily struggled to resist, glancing worriedly at Amy nearby.
Letitia noticed, too. Amy’s wide, innocent eyes were fixed on them, taking in every movement.
If Letitia overdid it, it might not be appropriate with a child watching.
“You’re being a bit forward. The child is still watching…”
“Sorry,” Letitia admitted with a small smile.
“Mommy and Lily… being so close!”
Amy clapped her hands happily, probably without understanding the full meaning, just sensing the warm bond between the two adults.
Lily’s thoughts raced: “Being this close? It’s just for show… I’m not actually… friendly with her!”
“Amy, why don’t I walk you back to your room?”
“Not being close anymore?” Amy tilted her head.
“Not for now. Let’s go back to your room first.”
Lily lifted Amy and hurried toward the bedroom.
Amy, having eaten enough, didn’t mind missing the display of affection—she preferred going to her room to read comics.
Once Lily returned, Letitia turned to Mira.
“You saw that, right? Even with a child present, we can show closeness.
A simple gesture shouldn’t be an issue. Surely you don’t think Amy isn’t really our child?”
“I know she’s your child… it’s just that—”
Just that she was unwilling to accept it.
Why should her affections be taken by Lily, who appeared out of nowhere?
“Looks like gestures alone won’t convince you.”
Letitia sipped her drink, her lips catching a trace of honey wine.
She smiled at Mira, whose heart raced slightly at the sight.
Mira thought Letitia was trying to assert herself strongly.
At that moment, Lily returned to Letitia’s side after putting Amy to bed. Now, no one would disturb them.
Lily hesitated. Why was she willingly putting herself back in this situation? Couldn’t she have stayed with Amy and avoided it?
Before she could rethink it, Letitia held Lily’s wrist, bringing her close. Lily gasped, and Letitia gently held her face.
“What are you doing? Not in front of others…”
“Stop protesting. This is just for demonstration,” Letitia said calmly.
They exchanged gestures that were close but appropriate for the situation, each showing affection without crossing boundaries.
Lily was initially shy, but Letitia guided her through the motions.
The exchange was light, sweet, and playful, leaving both slightly flustered but smiling.
Amy, observing, clapped with joy, delighted by the bond between the adults.
Seeing this, Mira’s frustration grew.
“Stop showing affection in front of me!” she shouted.
Letitia and Lily froze, glancing at Mira, then nodded in unison, acknowledging her concern.
“Clearly, you see we’re close. There’s no space for interference.
Why dwell on us? You should return to your own affairs,” Letitia said lightly.
“Ha! Don’t try to fool me,” Mira snapped, “I know there’s something going on between you two!”
“Didn’t you just see?” Lily protested, slightly embarrassed, “We were only showing closeness for Amy. That’s it!”
Mira’s anger was evident, but she eventually let it go, storming off while warning:
“Take care of each other! If either of you betrays the other, I’ll hold you accountable, no matter the distance!”
“I’ll always care about Letitia and our child!” Lily vowed, clenching her small fists, determined to stay true to her promises.
With Mira gone, the room returned to calm.
Letitia and Lily looked at each other, silently sharing relief and amusement.
