Generations are about to get messed up

Chapter 24 • 1,493 words • 13 min read

The so-called Blessing of the Heavenly Dao referred to the minuscule chance cultivators had of awakening special innate abilities—be they bloodlines or unique physiques—upon breaking through a new realm.

For Su Muyu to awaken the Primeval Spirit Physique indicated that an ancestor of the Su family must have possessed such a constitution, a phenomenon of exceedingly rare probability.

In truth, Jiang Yao also possessed a unique physique; generally speaking, individuals blessed with pure spirit roots would never have an ordinary mortal body.

Just as the members of the Yan family stood in bewildered silence, a clear, ethereal voice suddenly resonated from the sky above.

“Little girl, are you willing to cultivate under my guidance at the Cloudhaze Sect? Should you agree, I shall personally take you as my disciple.”

The voice, long and distinct, floated down like heavenly music.

Yan Long and the others immediately cast their gazes skyward, only to behold a woman in flowing white robes and a veiled face, standing amidst the clouds, her entire form shimmering with radiant light.

Behind her, an awe-inspiring and sacred Dharma Idol stood tall.

A Dharma Idol was the unmistakable mark of a Divine Venerable Realm cultivator, signifying that the newcomer was indeed a formidable expert of that cultivation stage.

Upon closer inspection, was she not the very woman who had intimidated Lin Yuan just last night?

Yan Long was utterly astonished at the sight of the woman before him, and the two Divine Mark Realm experts of the Yan family immediately offered her a respectful salute.

“We respectfully welcome Fairy Yunshuang to the Yan family.”

Indeed, this person who had suddenly appeared to accept a disciple was none other than Jiang Yao’s master, Yunshuang.

This was certainly amusing; the daughter-in-law was Yunshuang’s disciple, and if Su Muyu also agreed to become Yunshuang’s disciple, wouldn’t mother-in-law and daughter-in-law become fellow disciples?

Upon learning the identity of the person before them, everyone swiftly bowed in greeting.

The Cloudhaze Sect was the foremost sect in Jiang Nation; even the King of Jiang treated its members with utmost courtesy, let alone the Yan family.

The Divine Venerable Dharma Idol, immense and towering above the firmament, exuded an intense sense of oppression.

The entire Phoenix Roost City could witness this magnificent Dharma Idol.

“This… that’s the Sect Master’s Dharma Idol! She? She’s come to Phoenix Roost City too, and even appeared at the Yan family to accept a disciple?” Inside the Zhou family’s residence in the west city, Lin Mo and the others wore expressions of utter disbelief.

Of course, even more astonished was Jiang Yao herself.

“Master? Master is taking a disciple! Who in the Yan family is worthy of Master personally appearing to accept them, and so publicly at that?” Jiang Yao, along with the disciples of the Cloudhaze Sect, immediately rushed towards the Yan family estate.

After her dramatic entrance, Fairy Yunshuang swiftly retracted her Divine Venerable Dharma Idol, transforming into a streak of light that descended from the heavens and landed directly before Su Muyu.

Upon arriving, she first cast a peculiar glance at Yan Yun, then narrowed her eyes as she observed Su Muyu.

To become a disciple of the Cloudhaze Sect Master was, without a doubt, an immense stroke of fortune in Jiang Nation.

Truth be told, Su Muyu had not anticipated this outcome in the slightest.

She looked at Fairy Yunshuang, then at her son, finding herself caught in a dilemma.

While her heart certainly leaned towards joining the Cloudhaze Sect, the thought of her son being left all alone in Phoenix Roost City if she were to depart filled her with hesitation.

“Senior, if I recall correctly, that girl Jiang Yao is also your disciple, isn’t she?” Su Muyu inquired.

Yunshuang paused, then posed a question in return.

“Mm, is there a problem?”

Su Muyu offered an awkward smile.

“My son is about to marry her.”

Fairy Yunshuang immediately understood.

“So that’s how it is. Rest assured, after you join the Cloudhaze Sect, I will have Yao’er address you as her senior sister.”

Yan Yun, standing nearby, felt his eyes glaze over in bewilderment.

‘No way, my wife and my mother are going to become fellow disciples? This, this is incredible!’

Just then, Jiang Yao also arrived, accompanied by the Cloudhaze Sect disciples.

“Master, you… why are you here?” Jiang Yao excitedly rushed over, embracing Yunshuang’s arm and asking with a cheerful grin.

Yunshuang offered a faint smile.

“It’s fortunate I came. Otherwise, such a genius would have been buried in the mortal world. I almost forgot, Yao’er, the genius I speak of is your future husband’s mother.”

Jiang Yao’s face registered utter astonishment upon hearing this. Her gaze first darted to Yan Yun, and only after seeing his wry, bewildered expression did she turn to the young woman standing beside him.

It was her first time meeting Yan Yun’s mother, so it was perfectly natural that she hadn’t recognized her immediately.

“This… the disciple you intend to take, is it Aunt Su?” Jiang Yao hastily sought confirmation.

Yunshuang gently nodded.

Upon seeing Jiang Yao, Su Muyu’s eyes instantly lit up, and she immediately reached out to nudge Yan Yun.

“Son, this girl is Jiang Yao, isn’t she?”

Yan Yun quickly offered an explanation.

“Yes, that’s her. She returned early from the Cloudhaze Sect to help our Yan family resolve some troubles. I’ve already met her, and we’re getting married in a few days.”

With both mother-in-law and daughter-in-law now having met, Jiang Yao found herself at a loss for words.

Naturally, this was hardly the time for the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to converse; Fairy Yunshuang was still awaiting a reply.

“Girl Su, quickly agree! This is an unparalleled opportunity!” The Yan family’s First Elder hastily reminded Su Muyu.

Although Yan Hua was the Yan family patriarch, he was not the oldest; the eldest was the man currently speaking, Yan Yun’s great-uncle, a mid-stage Divine Mark Realm cultivator.

The other clan elder was Yan Yun’s second great-uncle. In terms of age, Yan Hua was the youngest, and his aptitude was also the best.

Su Muyu did not immediately respond. Instead, she turned to Fairy Yunshuang and said, “Senior, could you grant me a little time? All of this has happened so suddenly, and coupled with my son’s impending marriage to Young Miss Jiang, my thoughts are rather muddled.”

Fairy Yunshuang considered this carefully, then decided not to press the matter further.

“Very well. We can discuss it further after Yao’er and this young man’s wedding. I shall return in a few days.”

With that, Fairy Yunshuang once again transformed into a streak of light and vanished into the distant horizon.

The moment she departed, the two anxious clan elders of the Yan family hurried over.

“Girl Su, why didn’t you agree? As the saying goes, ‘delay breeds complications’! Such a wonderful opportunity is something others could only dream of.”

Su Muyu merely glanced at the two elders before turning and walking towards Jiang Yao, completely disregarding their urgent questions.

For this was her own affair, entirely unrelated to the Yan family.

During her time with the Su family, she had been unable to control her own destiny. Now, presented with an opportunity to do so, she naturally refused to be manipulated by others.

“You, you must be Yao’er, correct? I saw you when you were a child, though of course, you surely wouldn’t remember.” Su Muyu said to Jiang Yao with a warm smile.

Yan Long, too, immediately waved his hand at the Yan family members, signaling them to disperse and stop crowding around.

“Yan Long, why aren’t you persuading your woman? Tell her to stop deliberating! As long as she joins the Cloudhaze Sect and becomes Senior Yunshuang’s disciple, all of our Yan family’s troubles will be completely resolved!” The First Elder immediately approached Yan Long and urged him.

However, Yan Long offered a reminder to his great-uncle.

“Great-uncle, Little Seven is not a member of our Yan family. We have no right to demand anything of her, do you understand?”

That single statement instantly brought the two clan elders to a realization.

Indeed, in a few days, Yan Yun would be marrying into the Jiang family. Moreover, Yan Long and Su Muyu shared no deep affection. Even if she were to join the Cloudhaze Sect, what difference would it make to the Yan family’s standing?

It could only be said that man proposes, but Heaven disposes; everything had unfolded with far too much coincidence.

Upon seeing her future mother-in-law, Jiang Yao quickly offered a respectful bow.

“Auntie, I truly didn’t expect Master to appear and take you as a disciple. If you agree, then we’ll be fellow disciples!” Jiang Yao remarked with a smile, glancing at Yan Yun’s crestfallen face.

Su Muyu, however, remained perfectly composed and unhurried.

Meanwhile, at the Zhou family’s residence, news of this development left them utterly unable to sit still.
