A Day of Transformations and Reunions

Chapter 251,385 words12 min read

Luo Xuan sat on the edge of the bed, her emotions a tangled knot.

If Bai Jingjing had always known the lingerie was alluring, then she had, from the very beginning, willingly donned it.

The more pressing question, however, was that Luo Xuan had bought this lingerie for her. This meant Bai Jingjing knew Luo Xuan had bought her provocative undergarments, and from her perspective, what thoughts or intentions might Luo Xuan have harbored?

Yet, Luo Xuan truly hadn’t chosen the lingerie herself; she had simply paid for what the shop manager recommended.

Alas.

Slowly, reluctantly, Luo Xuan rose from bed and emerged from the room, only to find Bai Jingjing dressed in an entirely different ensemble.

It was a pristine white shirt in the style of a schoolgirl’s uniform, complete with a neatly tied cravat. The hem of the shirt was tucked into a black mini-skirt, cinched at the waist. Paired with black over-the-knee socks and classic uniform loafers, she looked every inch a true JK (TL Note: Japanese schoolgirl uniform style).

“How do I look, Sister Luo?” Bai Jingjing sought her opinion, her voice light. “Doesn’t this appear more innocent?”

Luo Xuan considered her words carefully.

How to put it? Indeed, while the short skirt didn’t expose as much thigh as hotpants, it was still, after all, a skirt, and a good portion of her pale thighs remained visible.

Yet, this particular outfit somehow exuded an air of pure innocence, completely unlike the “cute allure” of her usual T-shirt, hotpants, and sneakers.

Perhaps this was the effect of the complete set, the special attribute of the JK uniform.

“It’s quite good, very pure,” Luo Xuan offered her assessment.

Only, her ample curves were a little too prominent, slightly affecting the overall look of the uniform, but there was nothing to be done about it; anything else would have been even worse.

Feeling reassured, Bai Jingjing tied on an apron, preparing to make breakfast.

Luo Xuan followed behind her, recalling a question. “Bai Jingjing, why did you change your lingerie too? I mean, no one would see it, right?”

“Because it has a slight psychological impact, making me feel a bit guilty,” Bai Jingjing glanced down at her chest, which obstructed her view. “Moreover, the shirt has a collar and buttons, so if they were to accidentally pop open, then…”

“…”

Luo Xuan did not quite understand the ways of big-chested women.

After breakfast, and a short respite, the two young women descended the stairs and headed out, making their way towards the Provincial Central Hospital.

A soft, fair hand emerged from beneath the covers, reaching for a phone to check the time.

Oh no, it was past nine already.

Xia Chu hurriedly tapped open an app on her phone and placed an order for takeout.

It was the third day without Bai Jingjing, and she had successfully managed her meals, at least half of them.

Although her life seemed largely unchanged from before, Xia Chu couldn’t shake the feeling that her self-sufficiency had somehow improved.

And most crucially, it had already been three days!

Only two more days remained!

On the evening of the day after tomorrow, Bai Jingjing would arrive in her loyal Ayaka residential complex, chauffeured by her best friend.

Though she was reluctant to admit it, Xia Chu was indeed rather excited. The thought alone made her “arduous life” of the past few days feel like a sweet reward after bitter struggle.

Hmph, she had paid for this, wasn’t she allowed to be excited?

She rose from bed and settled onto the sofa, quietly awaiting the delivery of her takeout, occasionally pressing her slightly aching shoulders.

Her chest was too large, and it certainly put pressure on her shoulders, especially when she sat upright to play games, daring not to rest her chest on the table for fear of accidentally pressing the keyboard.

Once Bai Jingjing arrived, she would definitely make her give her a massage. Xia Chu mused, thinking that she would insist on a full treatment from the young woman, and after the shoulders were done, continuing lower would also be acceptable, considering it compensation for her troubles.

Speaking of which, Bai Jingjing’s ample curves were also quite substantial; how did she manage when playing games? Was she not afraid of pressing the keyboard?

Xia Chu sat on the sofa, pondering all sorts of random thoughts for a long time, then suddenly realized something.

Oh no, why were all these thoughts, all these images, entirely of Bai Jingjing?

No more thinking! Just in time, the takeout arrived. Time to continue striving for a new day of life!

Bai Jingjing stood before the main entrance of the Central Hospital, hesitating to step forward.

The Central Hospital was just a hospital, certainly not as grand as an entire university town like the Art University. Its several clearly demarcated buildings were easy to survey, uncomplicated in their layout.

There weren’t many patients visiting the hospital today; they were sparse, and there was no need to queue at the registration desk. This was, of course, a good thing, indicating fewer people were unwell.

Yet, precisely because of this, the two young women standing at the main entrance, wavering, appeared all the more conspicuous.

“Bai Jingjing,” Luo Xuan whispered, “Are we… not going in?”

Bai Jingjing’s small hand trembled slightly. “I, I don’t know. Should I first buy some gifts or something?”

Her current mood was probably tinged with a sense of trepidation when nearing home (TL Note: A Chinese idiom, ‘jìn xiāng xīn qiè,’ describing apprehension or nervousness when returning to a familiar place after a long absence), as these past few years living in the hospital had practically been her second home.

“Uh, Bai Jingjing,” Luo Xuan gently reminded her, “I don’t think bringing gifts to a hospital is very appropriate.”

Setting aside whether the atmosphere was suitable, bringing gifts to a hospital carried some rather inauspicious connotations.

“You’re right,” Bai Jingjing lowered her gaze.

She wanted to check if her over-the-knee socks were worn properly, if there were any stains on them; it was her first time wearing such long socks, and she was still somewhat unaccustomed to them… Uh, her view was obstructed by her chest, and she couldn’t see anything.

Luo Xuan seemed to discern her uncertainty about how to proceed. After a moment of hesitation, she whispered, “How about this? I’ll pretend to be ill, just say I’m not feeling well.”

Bai Jingjing paused slightly. “But the doctor will ask you where you’re uncomfortable, specifying the exact location, and then register you.”

“Ah, this…”

Luo Xuan also froze.

Wouldn’t that be utterly useless then?

As the two stood at a loss, a kind nurse sister approached them.

“Bai Jingjing, is that you, Bai Jingjing?”

Bai Jingjing turned her head, blinking. “You’re… Sister Xiao Li?”

She recognized this nurse, but to be precise, she recognized the nurse who used to call her “Bai Jin,” not the one who called her “Bai Jingjing.”

However, since the nurse still recognized her and accurately called out her current name, it indicated that memories had indeed been corrected.

The young woman quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

Although her former self hadn’t known many people, and had few close acquaintances, it would still be disheartening if nearly twenty years of her life were completely forgotten by everyone.

The nurse, named Xiao Li, was very surprised, scrutinizing her from head to toe. “It really is Bai Jingjing! I barely recognized you at first. We haven’t seen each other in long, yet you’ve suddenly grown so much.”

“Hm? What?”

Bai Jingjing blinked blankly. “What about me has grown so much…”

“Don’t just stand there, come on up,” Xiao Li said, holding the elevator door open. “After you left, Doctor Chen and the others often talked about you, wondering when you’d have time to come back and visit. But they certainly wouldn’t have imagined you’d become so big… I mean, changed so much.”

“Hm… hm?”

Bai Jingjing frowned slightly. She keenly sensed that the image of herself in her acquaintances’ memories seemed to have a slight, subtle difference from her current self.

Luo Xuan, however, was delighted. “That’s wonderful! We don’t need an excuse anymore. Let’s go.”
