‘Flying swords‘ were among the indispensable spiritual tools for travel, particularly for cultivators from the Foundation Establishment stage up to the Golden Core realm.
To soar upon a sword, weaving through the skies, remained the cherished dream of countless cultivators.
Yet, having experienced it firsthand, Xia Yi could only describe the reality as merely passable.
Consider, for instance, the spirit gales.
Most cultivators capable of wielding flying swords were typically at the Foundation Establishment or Core Formation stages; their spiritual energy, unlike the solidified essence of a Golden Core cultivator, required the aid of a flying sword for sustained flight.
However, during flight, these Spirit Gales (TL Note: Powerful, spiritually charged winds that are a common hazard during sword flight in cultivation settings.) would consume a portion of one’s spiritual energy to deflect; the faster one flew, the greater the energy expenditure.
Neglecting to block them was not an option, for the spirit-infused gales, rushing head-on, felt akin to a thousand cuts.
Thus, Xia Yi’s primary concern was tackling this issue of spirit gales; if a cultivator’s sword flight remained unaffected by them, their speed could increase severalfold.
Next was the problem of stability: a cultivator, even slightly distracted while controlling their flying sword, risked a catastrophic fall.
Xia Yi had experienced this particular peril all too intimately.
After all, he had narrowly avoided Playing a Resurrection Match (TL Note: A modern internet slang term, ‘laoda da fuhuosai,’ humorously implying facing a critical failure or death and needing to restart.) — not once, but three times.
Therefore, upon acquiring the ‘Reshape’ ability, Xia Yi conceived a daring idea.
It was a universally acknowledged truth that, no matter the era or world, the sky had always captivated humanity’s dreams.
In the world Xia Yi inhabited before his transmigration, people had ascended into the blue heavens through their ingenuity; the roaring machines that streaked across the sky had once been his own fervent aspiration.
Before his transmigration, Xia Yi had never fulfilled his dream of flight.
Now, having arrived in a world of cultivation, gifted with the ‘Reshape’ ability, and possessing the cultivation base for sword flight,
the answer became singularly clear.
Xia Yi would forge a ‘flying sword’ of his own, imbued with a sense of pure romance!
Drawing upon the relevant memories within his mind, Xia Yi began to research the feasibility of his concept.
To do so, he first needed to thoroughly understand the mechanics of sword flight and the intricacies of flying sword craftsmanship.
Thus, Xia Yi made his way to the Myriad Treasure Pavilion.
The Myriad Treasure Pavilion boasted a reputation for offering anything imaginable, provided one possessed sufficient wealth.
Naturally, books on sword flight and formation arrays were swiftly procured.
Xia Yi spent nearly an entire day sequestered in a room within the Myriad Treasure Pavilion, engrossed in his study of sword flight.
The deeper he delved, the brighter his eyes shone; theoretically, his ‘dream sword of my heart’ was entirely achievable.
However, the undertaking involved an overwhelming number of complex components, which Xia Yi couldn’t assemble in short order.
Yet, this presented no major obstacle, as Xia Yi was confident in handling most aspects.
Only a few core materials required experimental verification to confirm their viability.
“Hmph…”
Closing the books, Xia Yi exhaled contentedly.
Time was abundant; the crafting of his ‘dream sword of my heart’ was not a task to be rushed.
For now, the most pressing matters were joining the Azure Feather Immortal Sect and keeping track of Zhen Aoyu’s movements.
Although his trip to Hanhai City had deviated ever so slightly from Xia Yi’s initial expectations, the overall outcome remained unchanged: Bing Yingying indeed did not recognize Zhen Aoyu.
His future in-laws were also unaware of Zhen Aoyu’s existence, thus averting the catastrophic ending.
Despite having successfully sidestepped the original plotline, a lingering unease persisted in Xia Yi’s heart.
As the protagonist, the longer Zhen Aoyu remained out of sight, the more uncontrollable he would become upon his reappearance.
Xia Yi estimated that Zhen Aoyu must have achieved Foundation Establishment by now, having fled the Starlight Secret Realm.
In the original novel, he had reached this stage around the same time.
What remained unknown was how he managed to break through the Absolute Resentment Heavenly Art to achieve Foundation Establishment, and whether he would emerge even stronger than depicted in the original story…
“Hmph, Zhen Aoyu…“
Shaking off these superfluous thoughts, Xia Yi conceded that overthinking things now served no purpose.
At the very least, Zhen Aoyu’s strength remained within Xia Yi’s control leading up to the Azure Feather Immortal Sect arc.
As long as Zhen Aoyu failed to obtain the item suppressed within the Azure Feather Immortal Sect, his strength would not undergo an excessively monstrous breakthrough in the short term.
Moreover, with his master and Fei Miaoyun both possessing Core Formation realm strength, there was no immediate cause for concern.
Bing Yingying, with whom he had just confirmed their relationship, would also be entering the same spiritual peak as him, meaning they would spend most of their time together, which was also not a major issue.
However, all of this hinged on Zhen Aoyu not succeeding in his endeavors.
“Still, I need to quickly improve my strength,” he mused.
Xia Yi sighed.
For a cannon fodder villain like himself to catch up to the protagonist’s power, he would truly need to exert himself.
Pondering how to enhance his strength, Xia Yi made his way back to the villa.
“What are you thinking about so intently, Yi’er?”
Without realizing it, Xia Yi stumbled into a warm, soft embrace.
Pei Yunxiang’s familiar voice broke through his profound contemplation, bringing Xia Yi back to reality.
“Nothing, Master.
I was merely preoccupied with concerns about the Azure Feather Immortal Sect’s assessment.”
‘This was a falsehood.’
Pei Yunxiang, who had spent the most time with Xia Yi, quickly discerned his lie.
“Is that so?
Then, would Master like to ‘tutor’ you a little, hmm?”
Yet, Pei Yunxiang chose not to expose Xia Yi’s deception; she understood that if he was keeping something from her, he surely had his reasons.
Her only task was to help him relax.
When he was ready to confide in her, she would face it with him.
“Huh?”
Pei Yunxiang’s words caught Xia Yi off guard, and it was then that he noticed she had, at some point, donned a black lace chemise and stockings, her thighs perfectly accentuated by the gentle constriction.
Coupled with a slit nightgown and a pair of elegant blue-and-white embroidered shoes, her mature voluptuousness was flawlessly displayed.
This sight caused Xia Yi’s ‘long spear,’ which had gone unsatisfied that morning, to pay its respects once more.
“Ara~ Yi’er, you’re being naughty.
Thinking strange thoughts again, are we?”
Before Xia Yi could utter a word, Pei Yunxiang took his hand and pressed it against her dazzlingly white, astonishingly ample ‘headlights.’
She whispered softly into his ear:
“Actually, Master feels the same way~”
Afterward, she playfully teased Xia Yi, giving him a challenging glance before retreating into her room, leaving the door ajar.
Xia Yi: “…………”
The evening breeze swept past, bringing a faint coolness to the lingering dampness in his ear, yet Xia Yi’s heart surged with fervent emotion.
‘His Master truly knew how to play the game.’
‘As expected of a Dragon, she truly is a complete enchantress.’
With Pei Yunxiang’s seductive provocation, the vexation in Xia Yi’s heart vanished entirely.
Xia Yi strode towards Pei Yunxiang’s room.
****
Tonight was once again destined for a thoroughly exhilarating “gunfight.”
However, Xia Yi and Pei Yunxiang, engrossed in their passionate skirmish, failed to notice two pairs of eyes outside the door, observing this “gun-cleaning battle” that didn’t delve into the interior.
One pair was filled with curiosity, the other with shock.
“Sister Miaoyun, perhaps we should leave.”
“Little Sister Yingying, didn’t you say you wanted to learn how to conquer Yi’er?
Your Sister Yunxiang is giving you a lesson right now; shouldn’t you study a bit more?”
Indeed, Fei Miaoyun and Bing Yingying stood outside the door.
Fei Miaoyun, at this moment, was gazing with a playful smile at the scarlet-faced Bing Yingying.
She had initially thought Xia Yi had already explored new “postures” with this new sister.
Unexpectedly, she was quite innocent.
No wonder Yi’er liked the white silk stockings she wore.
Their pristine cleanliness was indeed very captivating.
Though, weren’t those things called ‘stockings‘?
It didn’t matter.
Little Sister Yingying had given her a black pair to wear, and they felt rather comfortable.
She just wondered if Yi’er would allow her to explore the uses of black stockings, much like his Master.
