The Demon Lord’s Mischief and the Holy Sword’s Intervention

Chapter 14 • 1,383 words • 12 min read

Mo Linyu twisted the motorcycle’s throttle to its limit.

The engine roared, its rear wheel skidding on the ground, and in an instant, the bike accelerated from a standstill to a blurring speed.

“Slow down! Let go of the throttle! Let go!”

Li Yue shrieked in terror, her hands clamping tightly around Mo Linyu’s waist, fearing she would be flung off.

The heavy motorcycle weaved wildly across the road like a drunkard; Mo Linyu’s riding skills were undeniably horrendous, a testament to her being a novice.

Yet, this speed proved insufficient to shake off their pursuers.

“You’ve started! Now shift gears!”

Li Yue screamed from the back seat, her voice betraying a desperate edge even through the helmet.

Maintaining a low gear at high RPMs for too long would not only prevent them from gaining speed but also subject the engine to excessive strain—a thought that pained Li Yue.

Mo Linyu, however, merely looked bewildered.

“Gear? What gear?”

“Your foot! Your foot! How did you even start this thing?!”

Prompted by this, Mo Linyu instead stomped on the right foot brake, causing the speed to plummet and nearly throwing both of them from the bike, eliciting another shrill cry from Li Yue.

The terror Li Yue had inflicted upon Mo Linyu when she was the passenger was now being returned to her tenfold.

“Not that foot! The other one! Hook your toes upwards!”

Li Yue yelled in exasperation, having to simultaneously instruct Mo Linyu, the novice rider, and keep a wary eye on the black car relentlessly pursuing them.

Mo Linyu, for her part, tentatively followed the instruction, hooking the gear shift lever with her left foot.

The engine’s roar deepened, but her hand remained glued to the throttle, causing the bike to lurch forward once more like a wild stallion unleashed.

“Wuraaaaaa—!!!!”

Li Yue’s shriek was so intense her tongue vibrated.

Mo Linyu herself was equally tense, struggling to grip the handlebars, yet the motorcycle continued to sway wildly from side to side on the road.

“I didn’t want this; just give me some time to adapt.”

Li Yue simply cried, “Steady! Young Miss! Hold steady!”

The black car behind them was closing in, its headlights casting long beams across the road on either side of the motorcycle, creating an invisible sense of pressure upon them both.

Mo Linyu was forced to upshift once more, attempting to outpace them.

The motorcycle accelerated again, though this time the increase in speed felt considerably smoother.

Fortunately, Mo Linyu’s learning curve proved impressive; she managed to grasp basic controls in an astonishingly short time, and even, after increasing her speed, began to stabilize her ride.

“Hmph, I truly outdid myself.”

“What? How can you be so smug now?!”

Just then, a black sedan suddenly swerved out from the side, attempting to cut off their escape.

A window rolled down, and a voice shouted, “Pull over! Young Miss Mo, this is far too dangerous!”

Li Yue clutched Mo Linyu’s waist tightly and retorted, “Then stop bloody chasing us!”

At that very moment, Mo Linyu executed a sharp turn, veering onto a rugged side road—its surface dilapidated from years of neglect, the streetlights flickering erratically, and the surrounding lanes devoid of life.

After riding for a while longer, even the shadows of buildings vanished, leaving only an endless stretch of forest and a broken road that frequently jolted the bike.

“Stop, the pursuers are gone.”

Only after Li Yue spoke did Mo Linyu realize the black cars had not followed them.

She finally exhaled, slowly decelerating, and with Li Yue’s assistance, brought the motorcycle to a halt by the roadside.

They both removed their helmets and rested for a moment.

“There are still places like this in Tianyuan City?”

Li Yue murmured, pulling out her phone to check the map, relieved that even in this remote area, there was still a signal.

“This is a protected forest belt.

This road will lead us back to the highway from the other end.

Let’s go.”

For the time being, their situation could be considered safe.

Yet, it wasn’t entirely safe; Mo Linyu could discern faint green glints in the woods, the reflective sheen of animal eyes.

“Where’s your Holy Sword?”

Mo Linyu asked, feeling the immediate need for a weapon.

However, as Li Yue touched her waist, a look of panic instantly crossed her face.

During the earlier skirmish, she…

Had she perhaps thrown the baseball bat away?

“Oh no!”

This Holy Sword had been acquired by sacrificing her ‘niuniu’ (TL Note: A Chinese slang term, ‘niuniu,’ referring to male genitalia).

If she no longer had the Holy Sword, could she ever turn back into a man?

Or perhaps her body would revert, but her ‘niuniu’ would not return?

The mere thought sent a cold sweat prickling down Li Yue’s spine.

To lose her ‘second brother’ (TL Note: A common euphemism in Chinese for the penis) over something like this—Li Longkang would never be a true man again.

“I—I have to go back and look for it.”

She stammered frantically, but Mo Linyu held her back.

“Wait, can’t you make the Holy Sword fly back to you?”

“I wasn’t actively controlling it before; it flew over by itself!”

Li Yue, answering thus, stretched her hand towards the sky, yet nothing happened this time.

Mo Linyu mused, stroking her chin.

“Judging from earlier events, perhaps it only appears when you’re in danger?”

Li Yue merely retorted, “Huh? How do I create danger? Go back to those men in suits?”

“No, perhaps that won’t be necessary…”

A mischievous smile played on Mo Linyu’s lips.

“…I have an idea.”

She spoke, slowly closing the distance to Li Yue.

This indeed gave Li Yue an ominous feeling; she instinctively recoiled, leaning back against the motorcycle.

“Hey, what are you doing?”

“Surely, as the ‘Demon Lord,’ I can make you feel danger, can’t I?”

Mo Linyu’s words hung in the air as Li Yue tried to push her away, but Mo Linyu caught her wrist, pinning it against the motorcycle’s fuel tank.

With her wrists held fast on either side and her body arched backward, she was in a position that offered little leverage.

“Don’t worry, I merely intend to help you summon your Holy Sword back.”

Mo Linyu’s voice held a seductive lilt as her face drew nearer, her breath caressing Li Yue’s ear.

“Stop! I’m a man!”

Despite her words, the slight tremor in her voice lacked any real conviction.

Being so close, she could even feel Mo Linyu’s body heat, and the subtle scent that emanated from her after their intense exertion…

Clearly, the preceding chase had left them both rather sweaty.

Mo Linyu evidently intended to press further, her hand slowly gliding towards Li Yue’s waist.

Through the thin fabric of the sun-protective clothing, she could discern the taut lines of Li Yue’s abdominal muscles.

Though her current body was female, the traces of Li Longkang’s long-term training still remained.

However, the disparity in their heights, coupled with Li Yue’s restrained posture, still forced her to gaze up at Mo Linyu.

“Now, look at me,” Mo Linyu commanded.

Li Yue’s gaze met those profound eyes.

Illuminated by the moonlight, Mo Linyu seemed to exude a strange, almost demonic allure.

“You… that’s enough.”

Her subconscious held breath rendered Li Yue almost speechless; the constrained position prevented any forceful struggle.

Yet, Mo Linyu did not stop there.

Slowly, she lowered her head, her shadow eclipsing the moon in Li Yue’s vision.

Dark purple strands of hair fell like a curtain, obscuring her sight as their cheeks and lips drew ever closer in the dim light…

Li Yue had never imagined losing her first kiss so passively, especially in such a situation.

The masculine part of her rebelled against it, and so, just as their lips were about to meet, she pressed her mouth shut and closed her eyes.

This amusing reaction instantly shifted Mo Linyu’s initial playful intent into a genuine desire to follow through.

However…

The anticipated contact never materialized.

Instead, a distinct “Thunk—” echoed.

They both looked down at the source of the sound.

Li Yue’s Holy Sword, the golden baseball bat, was now firmly embedded between Mo Linyu’s legs…

…in the ground.
