It had been a week since Mo Linyu first sought out Li Yue.
For the past two days, Mo Linyu had not come to see her.
Li Yue should have been enjoying the reprieve, yet she found herself pondering if her attitude that night had offended Mo Linyu.
‘Was my attitude too harsh?’
She seemed to be reflecting, muttering softly as she lay on her back in bed.
‘Perhaps I should go apologize?’
However, it was quite clear that a Hero would not call upon a Demon Lord to apologize simply because the latter was upset.
The reason for her sudden shift in thought was…
Suddenly, a peculiar sensation emanated from her lower abdomen.
‘Ugh, it’s, it’s starting again!’
Involuntarily, Li Yue clamped her legs together.
The soft flesh of her inner thighs rubbed against each other, as if something were still nestled there.
Yet, from that very spot, where nothing truly lay, an unbidden sensation arose, akin to someone engaging in an indescribable act with her.
Indeed, it was her Holy Sword.
The golden baseball bat had been left behind at the Mo family estate that night, not retrieved.
However, this oversight led to an unexpected discovery: as long as the Holy Sword remained with Mo Linyu, Li Yue would not transform into a male.
But why had this come to pass?
The answer, too, was self-evident: with the mission to subjugate the Demon Lord yet unfulfilled, how could the Holy Sword return to its sheath?
Li Yue had even attempted to summon the Holy Sword back, but to no avail.
Perhaps, rather than remaining by its master’s side, the Holy Sword preferred to lie in wait beside its fated enemy?
Feeling utterly mortified, Li Yue buried her head in her pillow, attempting to suffocate herself.
More precisely, she hoped to make the Holy Sword sense her peril and promptly return…
‘Hmph! Oh, fine!’
Evidently, this attempt at self-asphyxiation was far from successful, serving no purpose beyond depriving her brain of oxygen.
Incidentally, while our protagonist, the Heroine, was indeed lounging on her bed, it was neither the morning for rising nor the evening for slumber.
Instead, it was a languid afternoon, an unlikely time for bed, with the sun blazing ferociously outside.
Yet, she remained ensconced in her air-conditioned bedroom, quietly indulging in its coolness.
Normally at this hour, however, she would be streaming online.
However, because Mo Linyu was doing something unknown with the Holy Sword, strange sounds would occasionally emanate during her streams.
While these sounds caused the number of comments in her live chat to surge dramatically, they also carried the risk of her account being banned…
Of course, another factor was the oppressive heat in the living room.
Just then, the doorbell chimed from outside.
‘Hm?’
At this hour, Li Yue naturally assumed it was Mo Linyu at the door.
With a practiced ‘carp jump,’ she sprang upright from her bed.
‘Coming!’
She darted toward the entryway, flinging the door open…
‘…What? It’s just the uncle installing windows?’
Standing outside was the window installer, clad in work clothes, his face glistening with sweat from the heat.
Behind him rested two floor-to-ceiling windows, and he was accompanied by a younger assistant, slightly less aged than himself.
‘Eh? Little lass, I’m here to deliver your windows, but why do you look so disappointed?’
Li Yue, thus questioned, merely replied with a crestfallen expression:
‘Then please go ahead and install them.’
At the very least, one nuisance had been resolved, making her evening stream slightly more bearable.
The window installation presented no significant challenge.
The uncle even repaired the sliding tracks of the floor-to-ceiling windows, making them remarkably smooth to operate—a fitting justification for their somewhat steep price.
After seeing off the installer and his assistant, Li Yue’s thoughts once again drifted to Mo Linyu.
‘Sigh, I suppose I should just go apologize and humble myself.’
After all, she needed to have her ‘lifeline’ back in her own hands.
However, just as Li Yue resolved to leave, the doorbell chimed once more.
Li Yue glanced around the room, pondering if the installer might have forgotten something.
Upon opening the door, however, she found herself facing…
‘Oh? Miss Dong Lu, you… how do you know I live here?’
Standing outside was Dong Lu, the maid from Mo Linyu’s household.
Perhaps the surge of joy in her heart had muddled her mind, for Li Yue blurted out a rather obvious question—Mo Linyu had clearly provided Dong Lu with the address.
Realizing her folly, she quickly amended her question: ‘Ahem, I meant… why did you specifically come all this way?’
Dong Lu had come alone; Li Yue peered several times behind her, but the purple-haired young woman did not ascend from the stairwell.
‘Stop looking around,’ Dong Lu said with a hint of a smile.
‘The young lady hasn’t come.
You could gaze until your eyes wore through the autumn waters, and you still wouldn’t see her.’
Only then did Li Yue awkwardly avert her gaze.
‘I’ve come to deliver this to you.’
As Dong Lu spoke, she produced a document envelope from behind her back.
Li Yue took it and immediately opened it in the entryway to examine its contents.
Inside lay an ID card, precisely what Li Yue had long yearned for, along with a detailed personal dossier.
‘Your ID card is ready,’ Dong Lu explained.
‘Any unclear information has been reasonably fabricated; you can review it in the attached dossier.’
‘This is truly a great help.’
Dong Lu, still standing in the entryway, cast a quick glance around the interior before continuing: ‘Your household registration is tied to this current property, listing you as the owner’s younger sister…’
‘Miss Li, I’m still rather unclear about your true identity, but the young lady instructed me not to inquire, so I won’t press the matter.’
‘Indeed, my identity is rather difficult to disclose,’ Li Yue admitted, scratching her head in embarrassment.
Then, she cautiously inquired: ‘Um, has Mo Linyu remained angry during this time?’
‘The young lady? Not at all.
Why do you ask?’
When Dong Lu posed the question, Li Yue hesitated before replying: ‘…Well… it seems I upset her when I left that day, and she hasn’t come to see me these past two days…’
‘Oh, the young lady has been confined to the estate by the master.’
‘The master hired two female bodyguards to follow her twenty-four hours a day, forbidding her from leaving the estate even a single step.’
‘Oh, so that’s what happened?’
Li Yue suddenly understood.
Considering the events of the past few days, it was only natural for Mo Changhong to take such measures.
Dong Lu continued: ‘She herself has been clamoring to go out every day, but this time, the master refuses to let her leave under any circumstances.’
‘I’m afraid… she’ll have to spend this entire summer vacation confined to the house.’
Evidently, Dong Lu’s expression conveyed considerable helplessness.
‘I believe it would be better for you to let her out; keeping her at home is where the real danger lies,’ Li Yue’s assertion, however, only served to puzzle Dong Lu.
‘What danger could the young lady possibly face at home?’
‘I cannot explain it to you, but our actions in the city recently have, in a sense, been solely to save her life…’
‘This is a very serious matter; I am not joking.’
‘I believe you, but such a reason would be difficult to convey to the master.’
‘Sigh, it seems I’ll still have to go there myself.’
As Li Yue spoke, she suddenly recalled that Dong Lu was still standing in the entryway, and promptly invited her inside.
‘Please wait a moment; I’ll go change my clothes.’
However, Dong Lu, having settled onto the sofa, interjected: ‘No, wait a moment, Miss Li Yue.’
‘The master isn’t always at home, and even if you were to go to the estate now, you wouldn’t be able to persuade him to let the young lady leave.’
‘However, the master has consistently expressed a desire to meet you…’
Dong Lu mused for a moment, then suggested: ‘How about this: I can coordinate a time for both of you to have a meal once the master returns home?’
‘Oh? Is it that formal?’
‘Not at all.
You are, after all, the benefactor who saved the young lady.’
A warm smile blossomed on Dong Lu’s face as well.
‘Compared to that, what is a mere meal?’
