Li Yue: [Where’s my special bonus?!]
Handing the streaming duties over to Mo Linyu, Li Yue settled onto the edge of the bed, phone in hand, and began typing a message to the Goddess.
A reply quickly followed.
Goddess: [Don’t rush, just don’t rush yet.]
Goddess: [While those special bonuses are just junk at the bottom of the warehouse that I couldn’t give away, people still regularly check the inventory.]
Goddess: [If anything were found missing, suspicion would undoubtedly fall on me.]
Goddess: [So I periodically retrieve them and put them back, then I’ll find an opportunity to swap yours for something new.]
The Goddess’s replies were as swift as ever, her typing speed far exceeding Li Yue’s.
Li Yue: [Huh? Junk?]
Li Yue: [I’d only just gotten used to using that mind-reading ability, and now it’s been taken back.]
Goddess: [Don’t worry, I promise the next one will be even better; you can look forward to it.]
Goddess: [Though I say that, I haven’t quite decided what to send you yet.]
Goddess: [Just think of it as opening a mystery box.]
‘Even transmigration bonuses are a mystery box now?’
Li Yue raised an eyebrow.
‘While I’d be opening the box blind, the Goddess would be carefully placing items inside with her eyes wide open.’
Li Yue: [I wish for the next one to help locate otherworld souls.]
‘She was a Goddess, after all; perhaps wishing upon her would prove useful.’
However, the Goddess dismissed this wish.
Goddess: [No, that might be a bit difficult; there’s nothing quite so convenient.]
Goddess: [As I’ve said before, if such a thing truly existed, why wouldn’t I use it myself?]
Just as Li Yue was about to ask something else, the Goddess interjected:
Goddess: [My time for slacking off is up, so I’ll leave the rest to you all.]
Goddess: [Keep up the good work, my Hero; big sister is rooting for you.]
With that, the Goddess went offline.
“Hey, didn’t she just bail too quickly?”
‘Moreover, why did that person seem like a corporate s*ave secretly slacking off in a bathroom stall, watching livestreams during work hours?’
Helplessly, Li Yue lowered her phone and looked towards Mo Linyu, who was currently streaming.
Mo Linyu was speaking into the camera, her voice intentionally high-pitched: “So everyone, since this is the first day using a new avatar for streaming, the persona for this virtual character hasn’t been completely decided yet!”
‘Hadn’t it already been decided?’
“I’ve given it a little thought and decided on the following arrangement… *cough cough*, Demon Lord Oma, that will be this character’s name~”
‘Why was this person naming the avatar after her own previous life’s name?’
From the side, Li Yue shot her a disapproving glance.
While the prototype for that persona was undoubtedly Demon Lord Oma, this was *her* livestream channel; it was bad enough that this person was usurping her place (TL Note: The idiom ‘鸠占鹊巢’ (jiūzhànquècháo) literally means ‘the dove occupies the magpie’s nest,’ signifying usurpation.), but she even planned to change the streamer’s name.
‘If that were the case, would there still be any Dragon Brother? Would there still be any justice?’
Just then, Mo Linyu added, “Oh, right~ This avatar actually has another form too! … Hmm, I remember pressing this button lets you switch with one click… Oh, there it is.”
On the screen, the Demon Lord girl with dark purple hair and horns suddenly transformed into a delinquent girl with long golden hair, dead fish eyes, wearing a light green tracksuit, and wielding a golden baseball bat.
“Two avatars? No, why does this look so familiar?”
Li Yue’s mind froze for a moment, then she suddenly realized—’Wasn’t this just her, for crying out loud?’
“This form is called ‘Hero Moon’.”
Mo Linyu, now in the guise of the golden-haired girl, continued, “So some of you might be wondering! Why are the Demon Lord and the Hero two sides of the same avatar? Well, this setting is actually quite easy to explain: after the Hero vanquished the Demon Lord, she was unexpectedly possessed by the Demon Lord’s lingering soul, making the two inseparable, entangled within the same body…”
“Huh?”
Li Yue’s lips twitched as Mo Linyu’s narrated backstory grew increasingly outlandish.
“But whether it’s the wish to destroy the world or the wish to save it, neither can be fulfilled! Therefore, they can only live a troublesome… yet carefree streaming life on Earth~ What a joyous outcome!”
“…”
Thus, their daily lives had quite abruptly begun.
Setting aside the fact that their fusion wasn’t true, the rest of the situation seemed eerily similar to their current reality.
‘Hadn’t Li Yue been completely entangled by Mo Linyu?’
‘If not for her sudden arrival, how carefree would the Hero’s retirement have been…’
‘And the livestream channel was still hers.’
“Do whatever you want.”
Li Yue muttered under her breath, but Mo Linyu suddenly patted her knee and gestured towards the camera, indicating it was her turn to stream.
‘Mo Linyu’s streaming performance was clearly superior, so why was she switching to herself now?’
However, Mo Linyu had already risen, leaving Li Yue no choice but to brace herself, sit before the computer, clear her throat, and start the broadcast.
“Ahem, alright, next, I’ll try using this avatar to play some games.”
Compared to Mo Linyu, who had to deliberately strain her voice, Li Yue’s natural voice actually sounded closer to Mo Linyu’s affected tone; though she wouldn’t admit it, her original voice was far more appealing.
It was simply Li Yue’s more masculine and crude manner of speaking that made her seem less delicate, but the viewers in the livestream couldn’t discern the difference between their voices; they would merely refer to Li Yue’s behavior as “exposing her true nature.”
Indeed, after days of discussion and analysis, the fan group had developed a logically consistent theory.
They believed Li Yue’s personality during streams was the Dragon Sister’s true nature, and Mo Linyu was merely acting when she took over.
Consequently, when putting on an act, her gaming skills would drastically decline (Mo Linyu), but if she became too engrossed in a game, she would forget to perform (Li Yue), thus revealing her crude and aggressive true nature—which, coincidentally, bore some resemblance to Dragon Brother; truly, they were siblings.
Regardless of what the fans said, Li Yue could only twitch her lips; after all, she couldn’t actually tell them she had become a girl, could she?
[Dragon Sister, switch forms for us.]
[I think the purple-haired model looks better, switch to that one.]
‘Huh?’
‘Are you kidding me? It’s bad enough that her real-life streaming couldn’t compare to Mo Linyu’s! But she couldn’t even compete with an avatar?’
Come to think of it, the Hero’s avatar did look a bit world-weary. Li Yue didn’t see herself that way at all; this was clearly the Demon Lord’s petty revenge when commissioning the design.
“F*ck no, I’m not switching!”
[If you don’t switch, I’m unfollowing.]
Li Yue glanced at the bullet comments, then grumbled as she began fumbling with the virtual avatar software, knowing she couldn’t openly ask Mo Linyu without it sounding bad.
“The shortcut… for switching is…”
Even if there was a button for the function on the interface, Li Yue would still take ages to find it.
“Is it this one?”
However, her blind fumbling ultimately led to a problem.
The virtual avatar suddenly vanished, replaced by the direct camera feed—revealing Li Yue’s own face.
“Holy sh*t!”
She immediately shut down the livestream, but the bullet comments in the chat exploded, becoming even denser and more frantic.
[Something just flashed by.]
[Whoa! Super Beautiful 3D! (TL Note: A term used in virtual streaming communities when a VTuber accidentally reveals their real face, often used humorously to describe the real person as ‘super beautiful 3D’ in contrast to the avatar.)]
[A golden-haired beautiful girl? Is she actually real?]
It was a livestream accident.
