“Now, I shall inform you of the school rules and regulations. You can currently find the full details of these rules on your electronic student IDs. Should anyone violate these rules, regardless of the reason, I shall riddle them with holes, ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo~”
Everyone was terrified into silence by the heavy machine gun clutched in Monokuma’s paws.
While I, having played the game before, was already familiar with the school rules, I cautiously opened my phone to check for any unforeseen changes, just in case.
One. Students shall live together exclusively within this campus, with no time limit to their communal life.
Two. The hours between 10 PM and 7 AM are designated ‘Nighttime.’ Entry to certain areas is prohibited during Nighttime, so please take special note.
Three. Students are permitted to sleep only in their private dorm rooms. Deliberately sleeping in any other room will be considered dozing off and will incur punishment.
Four. Students are free to investigate anything related to Hope’s Peak Academy. The school will not impose any particular restrictions.
Five. Violence against the headmaster, Monokuma, is strictly forbidden, as is the destruction of surveillance cameras.
Six. The culprit who murders any fellow student will be allowed to ‘graduate,’ but they must not allow other students to discover their identity as the killer.
Seven. Beyond the aforementioned, additional school rules may be introduced sequentially.
Essentially, there were no major changes, but I imagined Rule Six would still fill everyone with dread.
“I can accept most of these rules, but is Rule Six serious? You can leave this place after committing murder…” Kitajima asked Monokuma with a serious expression.
“Of course, provided the killer’s identity remains concealed. Once three or more people discover a body, I will notify you via the display screen and, after a certain period, initiate a [Class Trial].”
“A Class Trial…?”
“Precisely! During the Class Trial, you must use the clues from the scene to identify the culprit. Ultimately, a majority vote will determine the accused as the killer.”
“What happens if we vote for the wrong person in the end?”
“Naturally, everyone except the killer will be executed. The killer, however, will earn the right to ‘graduate’ and leave this place, ooh-hoo-hoo.”
“So, if we successfully identify the killer, everyone else won’t be executed, and the killer will be executed, right?” Suzuki inquired.
“Correct! Now, I eagerly await your mutual killing! It’s been so long since I felt this thrilled~”
“What kind of joke is this?! We wouldn’t fall into your trap and do such a thing!” Akahira Yuusuke loudly chastised Monokuma.
“It’s you again, isn’t it… Perhaps I haven’t shot enough bullets, hmm?” Monokuma brandished the heavy machine gun once more, threatening him.
“Ugh!…” Akahira Yuusuke found himself unable to retort.
“Yuusuke, calm down for now. We are defenseless and powerless to resist it,” Takagi patiently advised.
“I understand…”
“Now that’s my good student. Next, I have my own duties to attend to. You may all enjoy your lives here, ooh-hoo-hoo-hoo. Oh, right, if you keep walking to the left from the entrance, you’ll find your rooms. Please locate your own room by your personal avatar, and don’t get them mixed up!”
After Monokuma departed, everyone dispersed, leaving only Takagi and me behind.
“Kamimura, are we truly just going to let Monokuma have his way with us?”
“Are you trying to tell me you’re giving up on resisting?”
“No! What I mean is, against such a powerful enemy, I don’t know how we can fight back…”
Takagi, standing before me, looked like a lost child, staring blankly at the ground.
“As students of Hope’s Peak Academy, we cannot utter such words of despair. I believe there will certainly be a way to overcome our adversary and escape this place.”
I couldn’t waste any more time here. I needed to search the surroundings for useful information.
First, I would find my room. Exiting the gymnasium, I walked continuously to the left. Ahead lay an enormous space. To the left of this space were the boys’ rooms, and to the right, the girls’. They were arranged in an eight-by-eight pattern, separated by a large central building. In front of this building were two grand doors. The one on the left led to the dining hall, which also contained a kitchen stocked with numerous frozen ingredients. It seemed food wouldn’t be a concern.
The door on the right opened into the laundry room, equipped with dryers. Further inside, I found rows of lockers on both sides, seemingly for storing clothes. Deeper still was the large public bathhouse. As someone from the south, this was my first time seeing a real bathhouse; it was truly magnificent.
Pixelated avatars? That certainly fits the Danganronpa aesthetic. I turned the doorknob and entered my room, my eyes immediately drawn to the bathroom on the left. A sudden thought struck me, and I walked inside.
Indeed, the first thing to do after turning into a girl was to look in the mirror!
The person in the mirror had clear, bright eyes; gracefully arched eyebrows, long eyelashes that trembled subtly, flawless fair skin with a delicate rosy tint, and thin lips as tender and succulent as rose petals.
I… I couldn’t take it anymore… Staring like this, even I felt a flutter in my heart. Damn it!! Why wasn’t this girl my girlfriend? She was even wearing a black sailor uniform with a white collar and a red scarf! Mom, she’s captivating me.
‘What? You say this girl is me? Oh, well, in that case, it’s fine.’
Come to think of it, I hadn’t quite adapted to this skirt yet. The empty, breezy sensation left me feeling exposed and vulnerable… Could I really be wearing nothing but panties?!
Oh, thankfully, I had safety shorts on. That provided a bit of security. Perhaps I should check the color of my panties while I’m at it?
A sudden wave of guilt washed over me regarding this body… I’m sorry, I’ll take responsibility!
Hmm? They were white briefs with a bow. Not bad, not bad at all~
Should I perhaps admire my own… *ahem*, my own twin peaks? *Cough cough*, just a peek… yes, just one peek.
Slowly, I pulled open my collar… and looked down… Ah, what an unforgettable sight, far more real and intimate than anything I’d seen on my phone…
Oh, no, no… This was starting to feel wrong… I stopped myself, adjusting the pulled-open collar in the mirror, the blush on my face stubbornly refused to fade.
‘If anyone had seen what I just did, they’d think I was a pervert! I certainly don’t want my classmates to see me as one…’
Hmm, I never realized how wonderful thigh-high stockings felt, it’s splendid~ I’m starting to understand the appeal for cross-dressers…
Touching these smooth legs, it’s… *splendid*!! I… I can’t stop!
“Kamimura, what are you doing?”
In the next 0.1 second, I looked up, meeting her gaze directly for a full two seconds. I had never felt such intense embarrassment, enough to make my toes curl.
“Ah… haha… Takahashi, is that you? My leg was a bit itchy; I was just…”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to disturb you. By the way, everyone is gathering in the dining hall for dinner. You should come quickly.”
“Okay, I’ll be right there.”
Wah-ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, I’m too embarrassed to face anyone, boo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo (╥ω╥`)

—Takagi Masahiko’s Perspective—
“As students of Hope’s Peak Academy, we cannot utter such words of despair. I believe there will certainly be a way to overcome our adversary and escape this place.”
Kamimura left the gymnasium after saying these words, leaving me standing alone. She was right. If I were to abandon hope right here, how could I live up to this identity? To be chosen as a student of Hope’s Peak Academy and yet be so cowardly! Kamimura must have been so disappointed in me just now.
This wouldn’t do. I would strive to survive! No matter what tricks Monokuma had up his sleeve, I could not give up hope. At the very least, it was to regain Kamimura’s expectations of me.
Having made up my mind, I took a resolute step forward and walked towards the large door.
