Lin Zi led Lin Yu and the others as they strode toward Yan Yun’s group.
The surrounding people, seeing the Lin family members, all made way, keeping their distance.
Not everyone was like Yan Yun, daring to clash head-on with the Lin family.
The vast majority of Yunhua Sect disciples would take a detour when they saw the Lin family.
“The Lin family? Are they targeting the people from the Purple Abyss Pavilion?”
“The people from the Purple Abyss Pavilion must have offended the Lin family. Looks like there’s a good show to watch.”
Seeing them approach, Yan Yun appeared perfectly calm and composed.
“What a coincidence. I didn’t expect to run into the esteemed members of the Lin family here,” Yan Yun greeted with a smile.
That arrogant Lin Yu, with a mischievous grin, immediately said viciously, “Who’s having a coincidence with you? We came looking for you specifically. Yesterday, you dared to use the Purple Abyss Pavilion’s formation to attack Senior Sister Lin Zi. Today, we’re here specifically to teach you a lesson.”
Looking at Lin Yu’s behavior, Yan Yun thought he was like the foolish son of a landlord, acting like he hadn’t grown up.
Or perhaps he was just used to being domineering at home and continued to act that way after coming to the Yunhua Sect.
“Teach me a lesson? As far as I know, the Yunhua Sect’s rules forbid private fights and brawls between disciples, right?” Yan Yun reminded them.
The Lin family members exchanged glances and then burst into laughter.
“The rules? That’s hilarious. As an outer sect disciple, you were disrespectful to an inner sect disciple. As your senior sister, I am the one who should teach you what the rules are.”
With that, Lin Zi made her move.
She sent a cyan-colored handprint flying toward Yan Yun.
Wen Meng and the others were startled.
They hadn’t expected the Lin family to actually attack in public.
Seeing their conduct, this was probably not the first time they had done something like this.
The surrounding people were also not surprised.
“Ai! This junior sister is in for it. Doesn’t she know that the Grand Elder in charge of the sect’s disciplinary code is Senior Brother Lin Mo’s master?”
But just as the palm print was about to land on Yan Yun, a cold glint of sword light suddenly shot from a distance, shattering the seal Lin Zi had released.
Lin Zi was also forced back several steps.
“Who’s there!” After steadying herself, Lin Zi immediately looked toward the direction of the attack and shouted angrily.
But when she saw who had made the move, her expression instantly turned ugly.
A woman in white, her body surrounded by a white glow, slowly floated over under the watchful eyes of the crowd, landing in front of Jiang Yao.
“It’s Senior Sister Jiang Yao! Why is she here? She’s so beautiful, simply the goddess of my heart.”
“Yeah, when I heard she was going to marry a commoner from the mortal world back then, I was heartbroken for a long time.”
Jiang Yao’s arrival captured the attention of every disciple in the Dao Discussion Pavilion.
“Jiang Yao? What do you want? What business is it of yours that I’m teaching this little brat a lesson?” Lin Zi deliberately questioned Jiang Yao.
However, Jiang Yao simply slapped Lin Zi across the face with a backhand.
Lin Zi couldn’t even react to the slap.
“You?” Lin Zi’s face was filled with disbelief.
“What ‘you’? I just happened to be passing by the Dao Discussion Pavilion and heard you disregarding the sect rules the moment I came in. What, do you think that just because the Grand Elder is Lin Mo’s master, you can ignore the sect rules?” Jiang Yao questioned with a cold and stern expression.
Her voice was loud.
Although Lin Zi was arrogant, she didn’t dare admit to it in public.
“Cat got your tongue? I believe that if the Grand Elder knew you were disregarding the sect rules, he would be very displeased. Also, if you have a conflict with Junior Sister Ziyun, you can take it to the sparring arena, but private brawls are not allowed,” Jiang Yao reminded her.
Lin Zi rubbed her burning cheek, her eyes spitting fire.
Unfortunately, she was no match for Jiang Yao.
No matter how upset she was, she could only endure it.
“Fine! Ziyun, do you dare to face me in the arena?” Lin Zi shouted angrily.
This woman had probably lost her head.
Daring not to challenge Jiang Yao, she turned on Yan Yun instead.
Yan Yun chuckled.
“A fight is fine, but let’s be clear beforehand. If my poison art injures you, Senior Sister Lin, you can’t blame me.”
Lin Zi had been thwarted twice in a row.
This time, she definitely wouldn’t let Yan Yun off.
“In the arena, injuries are unavoidable. Besides, you’re a mere Spirit Gathering Realm cultivator. Aren’t you thinking a little too highly of yourself?”
However, Yan Yun thought for a moment and quickly added, “I’m only at the Spirit Gathering Realm, while you’re at the Cavern Heaven Realm. Isn’t that a bit too much of bullying? Even if we compete, it should be on equal footing, right?”
This sentence made Lin Zi grit her teeth.
She looked at her younger brother and sister behind her.
“Which of you is willing to go and teach this little brat a lesson?”
That Lin Yu took a step forward.
“I will. This woman played me last time, and I haven’t settled the score with her yet.”
Yan Yun smiled insidiously, then leaped onto one of the sparring arenas.
“Senior Brothers, may I borrow this space?”
The two on the arena smiled awkwardly and then left the stage.
Subsequently, that Lin Yu also jumped down.
“I’d like to see just what tricks your poison art has.”
After saying this, Lin Yu immediately pounced like a fierce tiger, clawing at Yan Yun.
He was only at the minor accomplishment stage of the Spirit Gathering Realm, and his primary fighting style was still based on physical attacks.
As for Yan Yun, this was her first time in a head-on confrontation.
To be honest, she didn’t know any fighting techniques, but Yan Lingyun had taught her killing techniques.
And so, the moment Lin Yu pounced, Yan Yun suddenly spat a purple poison needle from her mouth.
The poison needle pierced Lin Yu’s right leg.
Lin Yu, who had been looking ferocious, suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Then his whole body seemed to go numb, and he fell heavily to the ground.
“This? What happened?” This scene astonished the onlookers.
Many of them didn’t even see how Yan Yun had attacked.
But some of the more powerful cultivators saw the poison needle that came out of Yan Yun’s mouth.
It was a very fine needle.
“You… what did you do to me?” Lin Yu raised his head to look at Yan Yun, his body convulsing as he asked.
Yan Yun smiled faintly.
“Nothing much. I just hit you with a poison that paralyzes the whole body. Don’t worry, this poison won’t kill you. At most, you’ll be lying down for a day.”
From the stands, Lin Zi saw that Lin Yu hadn’t even withstood a single move and couldn’t help but clench her fists.
‘Is this poison art really that powerful?’ she thought.
Just then, Jiang Yao spoke.
“Junior Sister Lin, aren’t you going to bring your brother down?”
Lin Zi looked at Lin Yu twitching on the arena floor, cursing him for being useless in her heart, but she still had others carry him back.
This was the terrifying aspect of the poison art.
It either didn’t strike, or when it did, it was a killing blow.
Yan Yun had only used an auxiliary poison just now, not her own corrosive poison.
If she had used the corrosive poison, Lin Yu would be a dead man by now.
“Hey! Senior Sister Lin, are you going to continue?” Yan Yun called out.
Lin Zi could already see it.
Lin Yu, at the minor accomplishment stage of the Spirit Gathering Realm, was instantly defeated by Yan Yun.
That meant they would need at least an early-stage Cavern Heaven Realm cultivator.
But among her younger brothers and sisters, there was no one who met the requirements for now.
“Hmph! You’re lucky today. You won’t be so lucky next time. Let’s go,” Lin Zi could only retreat for the time being.
The surrounding people had gotten a preliminary glimpse of the power of the poison art.
They couldn’t imagine how much stronger it could become with further cultivation.
Seeing the Lin family members leave, Yan Yun leaped up and left the arena, landing in front of Jiang Yao.
“Senior Sister Jiang, many thanks,” Yan Yun said, feigning gratitude.
Jiang Yao immediately waved her hand.
“You’re welcome. I’m not on good terms with the Lin family either. If the Lin family wants to cause you trouble, then I’ll just have to spoil their fun.”
And so, the two of them officially struck up a conversation.
