Just as the black-clad assassin’s dagger was about to pierce Irena’s back—a slender figure suddenly appeared,
blocking the strike with a high-tier elemental spell.
“Explosive Flame!”
A wall of raging fire erupted skyward, forcing the shadow to leap back.
The searing heat made Irena whirl around—only to see Jianye standing protectively behind her, facing the black-clad killer radiating malice.
She instantly understood.
If Jianye hadn’t intervened, I’d be dead.
Heart pounding, Irena patted her chest in relief, then turned to Jianye with genuine gratitude:
“Thank you, Miss Jianye, for saving me!”
“No need.”
Jianye replied coolly—but her eyes never left the assassin.
Her staff glowed again, already gathering more spell energy.
She hadn’t acted out of pure kindness.
To Jianye, Irena was the novel’s protagonist—undeniably crucial to the story’s progression.
Later dungeons required Irena to unlock them.
From Black’s vantage point far above,
Jianye’s intervention was surprising but logical.
In the original game,Jianye would indirectly cause Irena’s death—but that was much later in the plot.
Right now, Irena was still undeniably important to her.
Of course she’d save her.
“Lightning Lash!”
“Explosive Flame!”
“Ice Prison!”
Spell-wholesaler Jianye unleashed three high-tier spells in one breath.
Whoosh!
White Dragon recoiled sharply, using agile footwork to dodge—leaping multiple times just to narrowly avoid the barrage.
“Who are you?!”
He stared at the mere Level 45 sorceress before him, shock plastered across his face.
“How can you cast three high-tier spells at once?!”
Unfortunately for him, the girl wasn’t talkative.
Before his words even finished,
Jianye struck again—this time with a mid-tier divine skill: Execution Thread.
A golden filament materialized instantly, shooting straight for White Dragon’s throat.
“Damn it!”
He twisted his body, barely evading—only to see Jianye’s finger flick lightly.
The golden thread curved mid-air like a living serpent, homing in on him again!
She’s controlling a divine skill with her fingers?!
Her spell mastery is monstrous!
White Dragon’s face paled—Jianye was far beyond his expectations.
But he wasn’t truly panicked.
As a Level 65 Assassin,a mere mid-tier divine skill was manageable.
“Shadowblade!”
His dagger erupted with black energy, now enchanted.
He lunged forward, slashing the golden thread clean in half with surgical precision.
“Shadow Shrink!”
The moment he landed, his body melted into his own shadow.
Reappearing instantly from Jianye’s shadow,he struck for her neck—only for her to vanish.
Godspeed Flicker!
She reappeared yards away—as if she’d teleported.
“How is this possible…?”
White Dragon’s face turned ashen.
Am I a fake top-tier assassin?!
Repeatedly failing to land a hiton a sorceress 20 levels below him?
It was humiliating.
Fury boiling over,he unleashed his full spiritual energy—no more holding back.
Jianye had forced his hand.
The clash between White Dragon and Jianyeimmediately drew attention.
Kristine and Alice instantly sensed the other two assassins.
“Assassins from the Draconic Parliament!”
Alice’s face darkened.
As if on cue, Black Dragon and Red Dragon dropped their stealth.
Red Dragon lunged at Hans and Cyril with her dagger.
Black Dragon shot toward Alice and Kristine— clear and ruthless.
“Watch out!”
Kristine shouted,hands flashing—
a massive light shield blooming before her and Alice.
Black Dragon’s dagger struck—
CLANG!
The shield cracked instantly.
Ilyana rushed in, pouring magic into the barrier to reinforce it.
“This defense? Pathetic!”
Black Dragon sneered, swinging again with bone-shattering force.
CRACK!
The shield shattered.
All three girls were blasted backward by the shockwave.
“Little Jinzi—alert Lucy!”
At Black’s command, the wyvern zipped to Lucy’s side, pointing frantically at the deck with its tiny wings.
Lucy’s eyes narrowed as she spotted the assassins.
But she was already locked in combat—juggling dozens of Green-Ringed and Augupugu Sea Dragons.
She couldn’t disengage.
Yet these youths were the Empire’s future—they could not die to Parliament knives.
After a split-second assessment of their levels,
Lucy burned a yellow-bound page—activating her Words of Law ability:
“You are only Level 60.”
The phrase cost her heavily in mana—but the effect was devastating.
From the sky, her voice rolled down like divine decree.
Black Dragon felt an invisible force clamp onto him—his spiritual energy draining rapidly.
His power plummeted from Level 70 to Level 60—a full tier lost!
“Damn you, Sage!”
He snarled in fury—but the ability of a Sage was every class’s nightmare.
And Lucy was among the Empire’s strongest.
Kristine, Alice, and Ilyana exchanged glances—the tension in their eyes easing slightly.
Though they were only Level 45 Sorceress, Level 45 Swordsman, and Level 43 Cleric, three against one Level 60 Assassin was winnable.
Black finally exhaled in relief.
With Kristine’s known ability to fight beyond her level, they truly had a chance.
He shifted his gaze elsewhere.
On the other side,
Seth and Cyril were locked in a fierce duel with Red Dragon—and holding their ground.
Though Red Dragon was Level 59,Seth—Level 58 Knight—was a versatile combatant with proven experience killing higher-tier foes.
His lance danced like a steel storm, completely nullifying her strikes.
If he had the Overlord Spear, Black mused, he’d dominate her.
Cyril, meanwhile, leveraged his Alchemist prowess:
“Smoke Bombs” blinded her,
“Paralysis Elixirs” slowed her,
“Blast Crystals” detonated with concussive force.
Though the two nobles despised each other, their synergy was uncanny—keeping Red Dragon in a stalemate.
As for White Dragon?
Black was least worried there.
With Jianye’s protagonist-level power, she was never truly at a disadvantage.
