Jiang Yao was currently at the Great Perfection Cavern Heaven Realm, possessing ten Cavern Heavens, a formidable power sufficient to contend with ordinary Spirit Transformation Realm cultivators.
In the cultivation world, an ‘ordinary cultivator’ referred to someone who had neither pushed their previous realm to its absolute limit nor possessed any unique talents. Cultivators with superior aptitude typically achieved a breakthrough upon reaching the Great Perfection of a realm, whereas those with slightly lesser talents would break through at Minor Perfection.
Even upon advancing to the next realm, many cultivators would still possess less combat prowess than a Cavern Heaven Realm cultivator like Jiang Yao, who commanded ten Cavern Heavens.
Qingxuanzi of the Azure Nether Sect watched Jiang Yao purposefully seek out trouble with the Yunhua Sect disciples, his fists clenching instantly. This was nothing short of blatant targeting.
“Damnable Yunhua Sect,” Qingxuanzi seethed, his face darkening with fury. “Sooner or later, you will pay the price you deserve.” However, bound by the rules, he found himself unable to level any accusations.
Since the spots in this round were inherently meant to be contested, even if someone intentionally provoked them, there was no valid reason to refute the challenge.
Yan Yun and her unusual trio, hailing from three distinct families, had stirred up such a massive commotion that anyone familiar with them was undoubtedly unsettled.
Not far off, Yan Kun and the other cultivators from the Yan family simply observed from a distance.
“Second Brother,” Yan Ning inquired, her gaze fixed on Su Muyu as she powerfully eliminated members of the Lin family. “Should we… should we go up and offer our assistance?” She couldn’t shake the feeling that merely standing by and watching was inappropriate.
Yan Kun immediately shot her a dismissive glance.
“Do you possess that capability?” he retorted. “With your Minor Perfection Cavern Heaven Realm cultivation, you would simply be in the way.”
“You?” Yan Ning retorted, clearly displeased. “If you’re so capable, why don’t you go help instead?”
Yan Kun had already reached the Great Perfection Cavern Heaven Realm, having condensed five Cavern Heavens. While he was currently considered the most talented within the Yan family, his abilities merely matched those of the more gifted disciples from other sects.
After a moment of contemplation, Yan Kun turned to Yan Xia beside him. “Big Sister, let’s go, the two of us will lend a hand to Seventh Mother.”
Yan Xia nodded, then swiftly flew towards the area where the Lin family cultivators were gathered.
With nearly twenty minutes remaining until the event concluded, this period had essentially become prime time for cultivators to stir up trouble.
Other factions and sects, harboring existing grievances, observed various cultivators who carried themselves with undue arrogance, and subsequently began seeking out suitable opponents to ‘play’ with.
Yan Kun and Yan Xia swiftly arrived at Su Muyu’s side. Together, they unleashed a torrent of wind and lightning attribute spells. The intertwining forces of wind and thunder instantly swept the three Lin family members into a thunder vortex, eliciting continuous screams as they were electrocuted.
“Seventh Mother, we’re here to assist you,” Yan Kun called out to Su Muyu.
Su Muyu nodded gratefully at the pair. Despite her considerable strength, the sheer number of Lin family members, including several Spirit Transformation Realm cultivators, had indeed been exerting some pressure on her.
At that very moment, Xie Yuyan, who remained within the Yunhua Sect’s camp, found herself itching for action as she watched her acquaintances engaged in fierce combat.
“No, no, I must join in the fun!” Xie Yuyan declared. “Senior Brother, please watch my spot for me; I’m off to stir up some trouble.” After a quick greeting to a Huoyang Pavilion disciple beside her, she seized her long spear and soared towards the Azure Nether Sect’s encampment.
“Eh? Junior Sister, don’t be reckless, come back at once!” the personal disciple of Huoyang Pavilion shouted in alarm.
Alas, Xie Yuyan had already vanished with a whoosh.
The moment Xie Yuyan soared into the air, a strikingly handsome young man in the distance suddenly fixed his gaze upon her.
“Eh? Second Brother, look, isn’t that Yuyan?” the youth, clad in battle armor, hastily nudged the other young man beside him.
The slightly younger man quickly turned his gaze towards Xie Yuyan’s position, and upon seeing her, his eyes immediately lit up.
“It truly is her!” he exclaimed. “We’ve been searching for her for years; I can’t believe she secretly joined the Yunhua Sect.”
These two were none other than Xie Yuyan’s elder brothers, Xie Guangding and Xie Guangyuan.
“Eh? What is she doing?” Xie Guangding gasped, startled as he watched Xie Yuyan aggressively charge towards an Azure Nether Sect disciple. “Is she heading straight for the Azure Nether Sect?”
After exchanging a glance, they immediately abandoned their positions, grabbing their long spears and flying forward. As they passed by another family’s formation…
Xie Guangyuan called out to a strikingly handsome young man who exuded the refined aura of a scholar.
“Old Fan, we’ve found Yuyan!”
The handsome young man paused, momentarily startled by the news.
“What? Where is she? Where is Junior Sister Yuyan?” the young man immediately began scanning his surroundings.
“She’s over there,” Xie Guangyuan said, pointing towards Xie Yuyan in the distance, who was already embroiled in a fight with an Azure Nether Sect disciple. “After she ran away from her marriage, she joined the Yunhua Sect.”
The young man surnamed Fan immediately followed Xie Guangyuan’s pointing finger, and indeed, his eyes landed on a familiar figure.
“It truly is Yuyan!” he murmured. “No wonder we couldn’t find her. I never imagined she would join the Yunhua Sect.”
This young man, to put it mildly, was Xie Yuyan’s legitimate fiancé, the very person she had run away from marrying: Fan Chuyang.
Xie Yuyan was about to face a predicament.
“Xie Yuyan, a disciple of the Huoyang Pavilion of the Yunhua Sect, requests a few pointers from fellow Daoist.”
The moment Xie Yuyan flew over, she unleashed a formidable ‘Cleaving Mount Hua’ strike with her spear, aiming it at a cultivator in the early Spirit Transformation Realm.
The Azure Nether Sect disciple frowned, then unhurriedly released his spiritual energy to form a protective shield above his head.
In his estimation, Xie Yuyan was merely a Great Perfection Cavern Heaven Realm cultivator who appeared to possess no exceptional qualities, and thus, he naturally assumed he could handle her with ease.
However, to his utter astonishment, the moment the spear struck his defenses, a crisp *crack* echoed, and his spiritual energy shield instantly shattered.
“How is that possible?” The Azure Nether Sect disciple’s eyes widened in utter disbelief.
Xie Yuyan’s assault did not cease; the shaft of her spear swung, striking the man directly on the head.
The man’s eyes immediately rolled back in his head from the impact, and he tumbled from the stone pillar.
“That’s it?” Xie Yuyan scoffed, a genuine note of surprise in her voice. “This is far too weak! He couldn’t even withstand a single strike from me; that’s truly pathetic.”
“Damn it, you Yunhua Sect people shouldn’t go too far!” another Azure Nether Sect disciple roared. Witnessing his fellow sect member fall, he instantly drew his sword and lunged towards Xie Yuyan.
However, Xie Yuyan moved like a finely-tuned battle machine. The instant her opponent made a move, she instinctively swayed aside, then abruptly raised her knee, striking the man’s abdomen with brutal force.
“Pfft!” The man instantly spewed a torrent of saliva, propelled upwards by the impact.
Xie Yuyan instantly appeared above him, bringing her spear down in a powerful strike that landed squarely on his back, sending him plummeting from the sky. Another Spirit Transformation Realm cultivator had fallen at her hands.
“That’s it? And you dared to ambush me?” Xie Yuyan scoffed, radiating an air of utter arrogance.
The more formidable disciples of the Azure Nether Sect, however, were currently locked in battle with Jiang Yao and had no time to concern themselves with Xie Yuyan.
“Such immense physical strength! This little girl is quite extraordinary, isn’t she?” Xie Yuyan’s performance had also caught Jiang Yao’s eye.
He noticed that Xie Yuyan had relied solely on ordinary physical attacks, yet she effortlessly defeated two Spirit Transformation Realm cultivators. This certainly indicated something unusual.
“Sect Master Yunshuang, this little girl is also a disciple of your Yunhua Sect, isn’t she?” Jiang Yao inquired, turning to Yunshuang. “She seems rather special.”
The caliber of Yunhua Sect’s disciples this year had genuinely surprised him.
Yunshuang immediately glanced at Yunyan.
Yunyan instantly understood Jiang Yao’s unspoken meaning and promptly conveyed a message to him via divine sense.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yao was once again greatly astonished.
“What? No wonder, no wonder.”
Having consecutively defeated two Azure Nether Sect disciples whose cultivation realms surpassed her own, Xie Yuyan was brimming with fighting spirit and swiftly locked onto another opponent.
In such a setting, cultivators occupying a position had no right to refuse an opponent’s challenge.
However, just then, a familiar voice reached Xie Yuyan’s ears, startling her.
“Little Sister.”
Xie Yuyan’s expression froze, and she looked in a certain direction. Upon seeing them, Xie Yuyan immediately let out a strange cry and bolted.
“I’m not Xie Yuyan! You’ve mistaken me for someone else!”
Xie Yuyan fled with astonishing speed, vanishing in a flash.
“Little Sister Yuyan, do you truly dislike me so much? If I’ve done anything wrong, you can tell me, and I promise to change!” The Xie brothers and Fan Chuyang swiftly gave chase.
Xie Yuyan was in such a panic that she dared not look back. She returned to the Yunhua Sect’s camp with the fastest possible speed, hiding behind a female disciple.
“Senior Sister, Senior Sister, quickly, help me stop them!” Xie Yuyan pleaded in a fluster.
The female disciple, seeing Xie Yuyan’s panic, mistakenly thought that Xie Yuyan’s enemies had arrived, so she quickly called out to her fellow disciples.
“Stop them!”
At her command, the disciples of Huoyang Pavilion immediately stepped forward.
“Halt, or you will regret it!”
Faced with so many Yunhua Sect disciples, Xie Guangding and the other two were forced to stop.
“Eh? Fellow Daoists of the Yunhua Sect, I am Xie Guangding, Xie Yuyan’s elder brother. We are not enemies!” Xie Guangding hastily explained.
The Huoyang Pavilion disciples were stunned. They immediately looked at Xie Yuyan, who was hiding behind her Senior Sister.
“I don’t know them! They’ve mistaken me for someone else!” Xie Yuyan completely shrank behind her Senior Sister.
Seeing Xie Yuyan’s reaction, everyone immediately realized they were indeed acquaintances. Comparing Xie Yuyan to the two men, they could tell there was a blood relation.
“Yuyan, stop being childish! Even if you don’t want to marry Brother Chuyang, there’s no need to pretend you don’t know us!” Xie Guangding urgently called out.
His words caused the Huoyang Pavilion disciples to widen their eyes in astonishment, all looking at Xie Yuyan in disbelief.
Xie Yuyan bristled at his words.
“Xie Guangding, you bare-bottomed brute, shut your mouth!”
Xie Yuyan couldn’t hold back. With her spear, her face flushed red, she lunged at her brother.
Xie Guangding was startled and quickly raised his hand to block.
“Yuyan, are you crazy? I’m your brother!” Xie Guangding exclaimed after parrying her spear.
“Then you’ll have to defeat me first! If you can’t beat me, I won’t listen to a single word you say!” Xie Yuyan launched a furious, storm-like assault, forcing Xie Guangding to continuously retreat.
The Huoyang Pavilion disciples immediately began gossiping.
“It seems they truly are siblings. I can’t believe Junior Sister Xie came to our Yunhua Sect because she ran away from her marriage. It’s hard to imagine, with her personality, that anyone would dare to marry her!”
“Indeed, Junior Sister Xie is the fiercest woman I’ve ever met.”
