“Little brother, come take a look at this outfit. This piece is a masterpiece from a French design master; it would surely suit you perfectly.”
Luo Yao had mostly been selecting casual wear. Just as he felt he had picked enough, a shop assistant approached him, holding a black suit with subtle Prussian blue trim, and presented it with a playful smile, attempting to persuade him to try it on.
This sales assistant was the very person who had been standing at the counter earlier.
Upon seeing the black suit, Luo Yao’s brow furrowed almost instinctively.
Ever since the previous night, Luo Yao had developed a strong aversion to suits.
After all, he wasn’t fond of the constant feeling of his backside being ‘hooked.’
“We won’t be needing this type of clothing for now. So, have you finished picking out clothes?” From a short distance away, Mu Yaochen’s brow knitted as she observed the assistant approaching Luo Yao with the black suit.
“Ah… yes, Miss.” The assistant quickly nodded, seeing Mu Yaochen slowly walk closer. Working in this affluent district, she was well aware of who the prominent figures were.
Especially since Mu Yaochen had made headlines that very morning and was still dominating the trending topics.
‘Is that… her little boy toy?’
As the assistant began putting the suit away, her gaze drifted to Luo Yao, who stood beside Mu Yaochen.
‘Indeed, he looks exactly like the person in the screenshot I saw earlier.’
‘So handsome… but why is he wearing a patient’s gown?’
While Luo Yao’s appearance was undeniably striking, the patient’s gown he wore sparked a hint of confusion in the assistant.
Luo Yao, still clutching a yellow hoodie, simply gazed silently at Mu Yaochen before him, utterly unaware that his face had already gone viral across the internet.
“Are you satisfied with everything? Is there anything else you want?” Mu Yaochen merely spared a glance at Luo Yao, who stood with his arms full of clothes.
Her voice was devoid of much emotion, lacking the usual oppressive force.
“Yes… I’m very satisfied.” Luo Yao nodded, instinctively lowering his gaze, unable to meet Mu Yaochen’s eyes directly.
“That’s good then.” Mu Yaochen replied, not bothering to give Luo Yao another look before turning and walking away.
“Frost, take the card and settle the bill. Also, head home first, then take him to buy some daily necessities.”
Mu Yaochen approached Frost, whispering her instructions. She then made it a priority to sit on a chair in front of the counter, slowly observing Luo Yao from a short distance.
Taking Luo Yao to buy daily necessities while he was still dressed in his current clothes was simply not an option.
It was far too conspicuous.
Moreover, her own popularity on the headlines hadn’t faded yet; taking Luo Yao to a crowded place impulsively now would undoubtedly invite a great deal of trouble.
As Mu Yaochen quietly watched Luo Yao, she suddenly felt as if she had gained a younger brother.
Observing Mu Yaochen sitting there, seemingly carefree, Luo Yao suddenly felt his eyelids twitching incessantly.
‘That feeling again… so irritating.’
‘Does this feeling mean something bad is about to happen once more?’
Luo Yao casually handed the clothes he was holding to the packing assistant, then quietly approached Mu Yaochen. The two met each other’s gaze; though Luo Yao felt extremely uncomfortable, he could only silently endure it, intimidated by Mu Yaochen’s imposing presence.
Mu Yaochen, conversely, seemed to relish the sensation of Luo Yao’s eyes on her.
“Excuse me, I apologize for the interruption, but everything has been packaged. Would you like me to help you carry them to your car?” Just as Luo Yao tried to avert Mu Yaochen’s gaze, the shop assistant reappeared, carrying several large, beautifully wrapped shopping bags, presenting them to Luo Yao and Mu Yaochen.
“No need, just give them to the person behind you shortly.” Mu Yaochen’s brow slightly furrowed before she turned her head to look elsewhere.
“Excuse me, give them to me.” Before the sales assistant could even react, Frost suddenly appeared behind her, taking the shopping bags from her hands.
“Miss, may we leave now?”
“Let’s go.” Mu Yaochen nodded, then stood up and walked towards the distant exit.
“Please come again!” Seeing Mu Yaochen about to leave, the assistant immediately bowed in farewell.
As she watched Mu Yaochen and Luo Yao depart, a hint of delight appeared on her face.
While Luo Yao buying clothes certainly boosted her sales, she had just managed to capture a picture of Luo Yao and Mu Yaochen together on her phone.
And a clearer image of Luo Yao’s face.
“Give me your phone.” Just as Mu Yaochen had departed, Frost’s icy voice suddenly pierced the sales assistant’s ears.
“What?” The assistant’s face registered surprise, but before she could fully react, Frost had already taken control of her hand and retrieved the phone from her pocket.
“Someone will come to compensate you with an identical phone shortly.” Frost tried to open the phone in her hand, only to find it had a screen lock.
It didn’t matter; she simply slipped the phone into her pocket. Picking up the shopping bags she had placed on the floor, she turned and departed with an air of effortless grace.
“Stop right there! Give me back my phone!” The sales assistant finally reacted the moment Frost opened the door, attempting to stand up and stop her.
Yet, Frost was too swift; she had already closed the door and left before the assistant could even grasp her.
“What did you go do?”
Having just gotten into the car, Frost placed the various shopping bags onto the passenger seat and started the engine.
“Cleanup.” Frost replied concisely. Just then, she saw the sales assistant burst out of the glass doors of the shop, as if driven mad.
However, Frost didn’t even spare her a glance, pressing the accelerator and driving away.
The woman only managed to chase after a wisp of exhaust fumes.
Watching the car disappear, the woman clenched her fists in fury. Her freshly done nails nearly broke from the intensity of her grip, while other shop assistants rushed out from behind her.
Though seething with anger, she was helpless. She understood why her phone had been taken, and she also knew who the perpetrator was.
Back in the car, Luo Yao desperately wanted to turn around and see why the woman had stormed out of the shop like a madwoman.
Yet, under the pressure from Mu Yaochen, he found himself utterly unable to move.
“Is something the matter?” Noticing Luo Yao’s unease, Mu Yaochen tilted her head, looking at him with what seemed like both a question and a warning.
‘A warning not to move impulsively.’
“N-nothing… nothing at all.” Luo Yao gazed into her dark pupils, feeling as though he was staring into an abyssal hell.
“Nothing? Good. Then I have one more thing to tell you.” Mu Yaochen blinked, a faint smile playing on her lips.
Hearing this, Luo Yao’s heart fluttered with apprehension.
‘Is this woman… planning another trick?’
Before Luo Yao could react, Mu Yaochen slightly rose, her head slowly leaning towards him.
“W-what?” Luo Yao watched helplessly as Mu Yaochen drew closer.
“Regarding the money you owe me, if you behave obediently, I might just satisfy your little desires.”
As Mu Yaochen’s crimson lips neared Luo Yao’s ear, a devilish whisper slowly emanated from her mouth.
“O-okay…”
Luo Yao was too frightened to move, remaining seated and trembling slightly.
“Mm, very good. Let’s head home first.” Seeing Luo Yao’s reaction, Mu Yaochen didn’t appear entirely satisfied, merely offering a meaningful smile before slowly settling back into her seat.
From her lips came a tune Luo Yao had never heard before, yet it was strangely pleasant.
The car drove neither too fast nor too slow, the scenery along the road flowing smoothly and naturally.
While encountering a red light might cause a brief, minor delay, it had little effect on the presently relaxed Mu Yaochen.
Luo Yao, however, under Mu Yaochen’s watchful eye, felt an immense surge of pressure.
Mu Yaochen’s unusual behavior today signaled that Luo Yao would not have an easy time throughout the entire day; at the very least, Mu Yaochen’s torment was inevitable.
Now, Luo Yao’s eyelids twitched even more violently.
