The Student Council Election and a Sister’s Secret

Chapter 34 • 1,394 words • 12 min read

Xi Yao was no stranger to the homeroom teacher’s office.

Her last summons had been due to suspicions of an improper relationship between her and Jiang Li.

Today, however, she faced Lao Ban alone.

“I heard you missed class this morning because you fainted during a run,” Lao Ban observed her with a scrutinizing gaze. “Were you truly out for a morning jog?”

“Of course. I’ve started exercising today,” Xi Yao declared with an air of righteousness. “A healthy body is the foundation of life.”

‘Even if life hands out unexpected surprises now and then, one needs a strong body to endure them.’

To Xi Yao’s surprise, Lao Ban rolled her eyes: “Last semester, you couldn’t even complete the basic training in PE class. And now you’ve suddenly had this epiphany?”

“It’s perfectly normal. It’s never too late to have an epiphany,” Xi Yao countered, her voice full of conviction.

Lao Ban stared at her for a moment, before abruptly asking, “Are you truly planning to run for election, purely for revenge?”

Xi Yao gasped softly: “How did you know…?”

Lao Ban, however, remained entirely unfazed.

Having taught at Wenlu Academy for so many years, the petty schemes of high schoolers held no secrets from her.

While others might not have considered it, given Xi Yao’s previously unremarkable grades, Lao Ban had realized over the past few days of the new semester that Xi Yao actually possessed the capability.

Top fifty in her grade? That would be as easy as retrieving something from a pocket.

“Well… it’s not *just* for revenge,” Xi Yao mused, formulating her words. “Perhaps I’m simply well-suited to be student council president.”

‘Until the dust settles, who can truly say if I’m up to the task?’

Lao Ban considered this for a moment, then a hint of surprise crossed her face: “So, you’re telling me that for this plan of yours, with its hidden true purpose, Jiang Li willingly stepped forward to take the blame and endure all those rumors and gossip?”

‘Initially, I dismissed the rumors about the two girls as baseless slander, but now… I can’t shake the feeling that there’s no smoke without fire.’

‘Jiang Li, such an outstanding and proud beauty, actually acting as bait for a big-chested girl like you.’

Xi Yao, without a blush or a quickened heartbeat, declared righteously: “Great individuals don’t fuss over minor details. Jiang Li’s resolve is firm; she can endure this for the sake of victory.”

‘She truly believed this, for her roommate was a genuinely straight girl. Right?’

Lao Ban pondered for a moment, then waved a hand: “Alright, go back and rest. Just try not to faint while running next time.”

“Hmm.”

‘Of course I won’t, not anymore. I have a professional consultant now.’

‘While the consultant themselves might be a hidden danger, as long as my sister doesn’t find out, everything will be fine!’

The afternoon hours slipped away swiftly.

For Xi Yao, having only attended half a day of classes, it was naturally a very relaxed day.

Around six o’clock, the bell signaling the end of the last class rang, bringing Monday to a close.

“Class dismissed!”

Xi Yao and Jiang Li walked back to their dorm together.

This had been their routine since the start of the school year.

It was September, and summer hadn’t entirely departed.

The evening sun was still bright, casting a golden haze upon the path and the girls themselves.

While the sunlight wasn’t blinding, the gazes from their surroundings certainly were.

In the past two days, as public opinion on both sides had fermented, many students had become aware of the situation.

With Jiang Li and Xi Yao’s striking appearances, they were instantly recognizable amidst the departing students.

Xi Yao, in particular, was so exceptionally outstanding that she was one of a kind on the entire street.

Countless eyes fell upon the two girls, primarily directed at Jiang Li.

The campus’s prominent figure, the legendary top student of second year, the second-generation goddess dubbed “Little Xi Ruo,” had actually become embroiled in such rumors.

‘Were those claims true? How much of it was real? What happened between them in private?’

The main road was noisy, and at a slight distance, Xi Yao couldn’t discern their whispers, yet she could distinctly feel their gazes.

There were looks of curiosity, suspicion, disbelief, and even schadenfreude.

The online forums had been full of praise for her, and given her less prominent reputation, most of the malice had been directed at Jiang Li.

A pang of regret stirred in Xi Yao’s heart.

In the office, she had assured Lao Ban that Jiang Li was resolute and wouldn’t mind.

Yet now, feeling the weight of the surrounding stares, her heart couldn’t help but constrict.

“Jiang Li, are you alright?” Xi Yao murmured. “Maybe we should talk to Aileen and try a different approach.”

“Hmm?” Jiang Li paused, a flicker of bewilderment on her face. “What did you say?”

The girl had been lost in thought.

“I said, look at all these people around us. They’ve all seen the stuff on the forums,” Xi Yao whispered softly. “I think it’s a bit much. Maybe we should just drop it.”

Jiang Li glanced around, then understood immediately, shaking her head indifferently: “It’s fine, I don’t mind.”

“…Really?” Xi Yao still felt a twinge of worry.

‘Don’t force a smile, now. My conscience wouldn’t allow it.’

“Well, to be precise, I don’t have the mental energy to care,” Jiang Li admitted truthfully. “I’m currently preoccupied with something else and have no spare energy for anything else.”

‘Since Aileen said she couldn’t help, I might as well free up my hands and investigate the girl my sister likes.’

Xi Yao blinked: “I see. What’s bothering you? Can I help?”

“You… you’re still busy preparing for the election,” Jiang Li began, then trailed off. “Never mind. My matter isn’t urgent.”

‘I originally thought that, as another beautiful big-chested girl, Xi Yao might find it easier to locate that person.’

‘But then I remembered how incredibly busy my roommate has been lately.’

‘She has to run for election, study hard, and train rigorously. It’s too much.’

‘I’ll wait until she’s finished, and if I still haven’t found her by then, I’ll ask for her help,’ Jiang Li thought to herself.

Back in their dorm room, Xi Yao put down her small backpack, tidied her belongings, then picked up her bath towel and basin, preparing to head upstairs for a shower.

“Jiang Li,” she asked her roommate. “Wanna wash together?”

“No, I’ll go later,” Jiang Li replied, sitting down and opening her laptop. “I’ll avoid it for a few more days.”

‘The rumors are still raging, so it’s probably best to avoid the public showers for now, lest everyone stare.’

‘Normally, being stared at is fine; Jiang Li can ignore it. But in the showers, everyone is unclothed, at most covered by a single towel.’

“Alright, I’ll go first then.”

Xi Yao picked up her basin and hummed a tune as she headed upstairs.

Jiang Li opened the school website, encountering a dilemma at the student data portal.

Searching for one girl among thousands, even tens of thousands, in the high school division was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Fortunately, modern data could assist her.

Her sister had mentioned that the girl was beautiful and had a very large chest, so she could simply filter by physical examination data.

First, she would identify all girls with large chests, then review them one by one for beauty.

This would quickly narrow down the scope to a manageable number, making it easy to approach and test them individually afterward.

Then Jiang Li realized she lacked the necessary permissions.

‘Of course, physical examination data is personal privacy. How could anyone just casually query it?’

Jiang Li thought carefully.

The student council president should have such authority.

She would ask Xi Yao to help her search after the election.

Meanwhile, on the top floor of the girls’ dorm, the bathhouse was about to welcome its most beautiful sight—Xi Yao.

In the largest bath pool, several girls were already waiting, anticipating her arrival.

“Stand up! Nobody gets in the water until our big-chested beauty arrives.”
