“They didn’t say it would rain…….”

Haejin muttered emptily as she looked up at the sky full of dark clouds.

After finishing their meal and stepping outside the building, rain was pouring down.

No wonder, as we were finishing up, I saw people with wet umbrellas.

I wondered if it might be raining, and it really was.

Haejin had absolutely no expectations for today’s date.

But she had turned on the weather forecast and checked the weather before going out.

For days, it had said today would be sunny with clear skies.

But checking the weather now, a rain icon had suddenly appeared.

Considering Korea’s terrain, predicting the weather isn’t easy.

Suddenly changing forecasts is common.

But the absurdity was unavoidable.

The only fortunate thing was that, seeing only the current hour had a rain icon, it seemed like a brief shower.

It looked like it would soon stop.

As luck would have it, the restaurant parking lot was under construction.

They had parked a bit away and walked.

It looked difficult to brave this rain to get there.

Since it would stop soon anyway, should we wait a bit?

Haejin was checking the weather on her phone.

She looked at Beomwoo standing beside her and spoke.

“Looking at the weather forecast, it seems like a shower.”

“It looks like it’ll stop soon…… should we wait?”

“…….”

It looks like it’ll stop soon.

Haejin asked, thinking that.

But the expression on Beomwoo’s face as he looked up at the sky was serious.

Just as I checked the forecast and thought today’s weather would be clear, it seemed his plans were disrupted.

The sudden downpour made him serious.

Considering he was the one who brought the movie poster today, checked the movie time in advance, and even reserved the restaurant, he must have had plans for afterwards as well.

As much as Haejin knew his personality, she understood why he was looking serious.

But when Beomwoo seemed to finish his thoughts and shifted his gaze from the sky to me, he opened his mouth.

“We need to buy an umbrella.”

“There’s a convenience store ahead; I think they sell them there.”

“Wait here for a moment.”

“Huh?”

“No, I……!”

I said it looks like it’ll stop soon!

As Haejin tried to hold him back, saying it wasn’t necessary, Beomwoo didn’t give her a chance.

He plunged into the rain without hesitation.

No, it’s a total downpour……!

If it were a drizzle, maybe.

But this was a downpour where just stepping outside would drench you from head to toe.

It was impossible to even consider braving it.

Why not just wait?

She wanted to grab and stop him.

But he had already jumped into the rain and sped off into the distance as if using a shrinking-step technique.

She didn’t think she could catch him by running.

Was his personality always that impatient?

This was the first time I’d seen him dash out like this.

But thinking about it, he was extremely FM and hated wasting time.

Considering that aspect, he probably was impatient…….

She stared blankly at the spot he had left.

Not long after, Beomwoo returned, braving the downpour again.

This time, holding two black umbrellas.

“Let’s go.”

“…….”

It’s good he bought two generous-sized umbrellas…….

But one of the umbrellas he was using had already lost its meaning.

It seemed pointless to use an umbrella now.

He was drenched from head to toe, looking exactly like a soaked mouse.

Haejin, bewildered, took the umbrella from him.

She looked at him with a puzzled expression and said.

“No, but to this extent…….”

“You’re, you’re all wet.”

“We don’t know when the rain will stop.”

“It’s better if only one person gets wet, isn’t it?”

“No…….”

That’s true but…….

Even though Korea’s weather forecasts aren’t very accurate, it looked like rain that would pass quickly.

And hearing him say that only one person needs to get wet, so there’s no need for both to get rained on, it sounded like he was pursuing extreme efficiency.

Having just recalled that he values efficiency and terribly hates wasting time, it felt even more so.

Haejin wasn’t particularly impatient by nature.

She believed in the aesthetics of slowness.

She believed there was romance in waiting, even if it seemed meaningless.

So, the part about hating wasted time and focusing only on efficiency was one aspect of him she didn’t like.

But she couldn’t ignore the sincerity of him braving this downpour to get an umbrella for me.

Though a bit perplexed, Haejin accepted the umbrella he brought.

She opened it, and moved to his car parked nearby.

Folding the umbrella and getting into the car, Haejin’s gaze immediately went to Beomwoo sitting in the driver’s seat.

I was bone-dry without a single drop of rain on me.

But he was not.

Sitting down soaking wet, the seat was getting damp too.

People who drive their own cars usually call them their ‘beloved steeds.’

They cherish them, like them, and absolutely hate getting them dirty.

Haejin had never owned a car.

But since most people are like that, she figured Beomwoo would be the same.

She looked at him worriedly and asked.

“You’re wet…… is the car okay?”

“Do you have a, a towel……?”

“It doesn’t matter, but it is a bit uncomfortable.”

Not being my car, I don’t know if there’s a towel or not.

As Haejin looked around and spoke, Beomwoo answered as if it were no big deal.

He shook off his wet clothes a little.

He didn’t mind the car seat getting wet.

But he was uncomfortable being wet himself.

Come to think of it, ordinary people rarely get drenched from head to toe.

But for someone like him, wouldn’t this be the first time in his life his entire body was soaked by rain?

Discomfort aside, wearing wet clothes can lower your body temperature and lead to a cold.

So he should change his clothes…….

Money isn’t an issue, so buying clothes and underwear to change into wouldn’t be a problem.

But being soaked from head to toe, just changing clothes probably wouldn’t make the discomfort go away.

He’d need to wash up properly.

When thinking of a place to change clothes and wash up, hotels or motels came to mind.

But since this was nominally our first date, going to such a place seemed a bit off.

If I suggested it, he might misunderstand for no reason…….

As she wondered if there was any other better place, Haejin cautiously opened her mouth with a sudden thought.

“I, I don’t think we can go anywhere like this…….”

“Hmm?”

“Would you like to…… wash up and change clothes…… at my place?”

“…….”

In her own way, Haejin suggested a place that wasn’t a hotel or motel.

It was a place that wouldn’t imply impure thoughts.

But once the words were out, seeing his reaction made her think, ‘Is this wrong……?’

Understandably so, as Beomwoo’s eyes widened as if he never expected to hear such words.

He stiffened…….

I truly had not an ounce of such desire.

I said it with the intention that since you’re all wet, you should wash up and change clothes.

But seeing his reaction made me feel as if I had openly tempted him.

It felt like saying, ‘Want to come up for ramyeon?’

If this is the case, it doesn’t seem much different from suggesting a hotel or motel.

He should know that I, who have been pushing marriage away and saying I don’t like him, wouldn’t make such a tempting offer.

But worried he might misunderstand, Haejin hurriedly continued.

“No, it’s just…… it’s a bit awkward to go anywhere in this state.”

“Even if you buy clothes and under, underwear to change into, it wouldn’t be washing up and changing, so it would be uncomfortable…….”

“…….”

“A, and to be precise, it’s the house you provided, so it’s not exactly my house…….”

“And, there’s nothing to do if we go…….”

“Let’s go.”

As Haejin mumbled, asking him not to misunderstand, Beomwoo summed up the situation with a single phrase.

Regardless of what meaning I intended, as if it didn’t matter.

Almost simultaneously with speaking, he grabbed the steering wheel and started driving the car.

He stepped on the accelerator, picking up speed quickly.

Even though it’s a wet road and dangerous, seeing his serious profile as he drove fast, Haejin worried.

She worried whether the misunderstanding was really cleared up.

It didn’t seem like he would listen no matter how much I explained.

No matter what I did, it seemed irreversible that we were going to the house.

So Haejin stopped adding more explanations.

She slightly opened the window again.

The air cooled by the falling rain barely managed to cool her heated face.
