Black found the necromancer’s hiding place.
In the dim light, the withered, naked figure stood with its back to the cave entrance, motionless.
Like a rigid sculpture.
Black couldn’t see his expression, only felt an incredible daze in his posture.
As if he had experienced something extraordinary.
Black didn’t know what, only that now was the best time for an assassination.
His figure suddenly rushed forward, and the Demon-Cleaver stabbed at the necromancer’s back.
“Pfft!”
The blade passed through flesh and bone without any hindrance, emerging from the necromancer’s chest, bringing with it a trail of dark red blood.
“Urgh…”
The necromancer’s body trembled violently. He looked down at the blood-stained tip of the sword protruding from his chest, his face a mixture of pain and horror.
He struggled to turn his head. His white pupils stared at Black’s face, full of resentment.
“What… on earth… is she?”
With every word he spoke, more blood gushed from his mouth, his voice hoarse and broken.
“My… Evil Spirit Knight… how could it be… one-shotted?”
Before he could finish, the light in his eyes was completely extinguished.
His head tilted, and he stopped breathing.
But that final question stabbed directly into Black’s heart.
‘She one-shotted the Evil Spirit Knight?’
Black’s heart skipped a beat. A bad premonition, like being doused with ice water, made his right eyelid twitch uncontrollably.
Combined with the ice-element magical power he had sensed just now.
A fact was laid before him.
‘Irena’s ring really did awaken early.’
‘And in the worst possible way.’
‘Forcibly bearing that power with only Mid-Tier strength, there’s only one result: the power goes berserk, completely out of control.’
“Damn it!”
Black cursed in a low voice, his face turning incredibly grim.
He pulled out the Demon-Cleaver, and with a flash of its light, he cut off the necromancer’s head, leaving him no chance of survival.
Then he decisively turned and ran at full speed towards the orphanage.
He had to get a hold of the out-of-control Irena before she caused massive destruction!
The backyard of the orphanage.
The Evil Spirit Knight had turned to ice dust and dissipated.
The moment the necromancer also died, the restraints were finally broken.
In the sky above the backyard, the evil spirits that had been refined seemed to have been liberated.
The black energy on their bodies faded, revealing their hazy, white spiritual forms.
Over a hundred souls, emitting a soft white light, floated in mid-air.
Immediately after, these white souls, as if drawn by some invisible force.
Lightly drifted towards a certain direction of the orphanage.
Then, in a corner unknown to anyone, they merged into little Dylan’s body.
“Welcome back.”
Little Dylan smiled innocently, as if welcoming her playmates.
But no one had the time to ponder this strange scene.
Because everyone’s attention was drawn to Irena.
After the Evil Spirit Knight disintegrated, Irena, like the Goddess of Ice, fell into a strange state.
“BOOM!”
Her magical power was strengthening step by step, showing a trend of advancing to the Dragon-Tier.
What was more deadly was that this power began to go out of control, unconsciously freezing everything around her, and was gradually spreading outwards.
“This is trouble…”
Jianye stared at Irena’s emotionless face, letting out several puffs of white breath, her expression unusually grave.
She knew Irena’s current condition.
It should have been a side effect of the growth in power after Irena advanced to High-Tier, but because her magic was out of control, the symptoms had become so terrifying.
“We have to calm her down, or she’ll fall into the demonic path.”
Jianye muttered anxiously, a ball of flames already at her feet, taking her towards Irena.
“Irena, stop!”
Jianye flew over, trying to grab Irena’s hand.
But as soon as she got close, Jianye’s body was frozen.
A repulsive force, so strong she couldn’t resist it, sent her flying backward.
“Irena…”
Jianye looked at Irena again, her eyes filled with deep worry.
Irena’s eyes were covered in a layer of frost, staring blankly into the void.
Her face was expressionless, like a walking corpse that had lost its soul, but the magical power on her body was constantly soaring.
“This power…”
Jianye looked at the frost around Irena and felt a coldness from the depths of her soul.
“We can’t let her continue like this.”
Jianye gritted her teeth, burned the magical power in her body, turned into a streak of fire, and charged at Irena again.
“Jianye!”
“Don’t go!”
In the distance, Black and another shouted at the same time.
But Jianye didn’t listen to their advice at all and rushed towards Irena without hesitation.
“Irena, wake up!”
She roared and threw a punch at Irena.
“Bang!”
Flame and frost collided, and a violent shockwave erupted, spreading outwards with the two of them at the center.
Frost and flame intertwined, turning everything around them into ice dust and ash.
The two forces were evenly matched, and for a moment, neither could do anything to the other.
“Jianye, are you crazy!”
Black rushed to Jianye’s side. He could feel that Jianye’s magical power was rapidly decreasing.
“You can’t last long. Stop it.”
Jianye didn’t respond to Black, just stared at Irena.
“Irena, if you don’t stop, I’ll kill you!”
Irena showed no reaction, her magical power still increasing.
“Do you think you can kill me like this?”
“Irena!”
Jianye roared, burning her magical power to the extreme.
“Don’t you dare fall into the demonic path!”
Her body emitted a strong light, enveloping Irena.
The Ring of Inheritance, which should have awakened after she had advanced to High-Tier and experienced a true life-or-death trial.
Had now awakened far too early.
With only Mid-Tier strength and having lost consciousness, she simply couldn’t control the power in the ring.
“Wake up! Irena!”
Jianye shouted with all her might, trying to call back the other’s consciousness.
Unfortunately, it was completely useless.
“Urgh!”
A pained groan escaped Irena’s lips.
Immediately after, with her at the center, an even more violent and icy magical power than during the battle, like a bursting ice river, erupted.
“Crack!”
A visible azure-blue cold wave exploded in a ring!
The ground, the ruins, the air, everything that came into contact with this cold wave was instantly covered in a thick layer of solid ice.
The speed at which the ice layer spread was astonishing, and it was quickly approaching Jianye and the others.
The large oak tree bore the brunt of it. From its roots to its top, it was instantly turned into a huge ice sculpture.
‘Damn it!’
This scene, which could be called a natural disaster, made Jianye bite her red lip.
This vast magical power should have been gradually absorbed by the future Irena.
Now it was leaking out little by little.
If this power of ice were allowed to be fully released, not to mention this backyard, probably the entire city of Servia would be dragged into an eternal winter tonight.
After all, that was the magical power of the Sage of Sorcerers!
They had to control Irena herself, just as it was beginning to spread.
But, to do that, it would require at least a Top-Tier powerhouse to use their own magical power as a guide.
To forcibly intervene in the chaotic magical circulation in Irena’s body and temporarily seal it.
This process was extremely dangerous. The out-of-control ice magic had a strong corrosive effect.
The slightest mistake, and the rescuer themselves would be eroded by the magical power and die on the spot!
However.
Looking at their current condition.
She herself had exhausted her magical power and had a splitting headache.
Leon’s hand was torn open, his internal organs were injured, and the hand holding his sword was trembling.
Land had taken two heavy blows from the Evil Spirit Knight. A few of his ribs were probably broken, and his spiritual power was scattered.
The three of them were at the end of their rope. Not to mention having Top-Tier strength, they could barely even protect themselves now.
“Go! Go quickly!”
Jianye made a decisive move and shouted hoarsely at Leon and Land.
“We can’t do anything by staying here. We’ll just freeze to death!”
Although Leon and Land didn’t understand the situation, they were well aware of how critical it was. They endured their injuries and ran desperately with Jianye towards the orphanage.
Behind them, the azure ice layer chased relentlessly. Wherever it passed, all things were frozen, leaving behind a dead-silent world of ice crystals.
As they approached the orphanage, they realized an even more serious problem.
There were dozens of children in the orphanage.
They were all fast asleep right now.
If the ice layer spread here, it would be over!
If they had anticipated the current situation, they would have evacuated them long ago.
“No! If this continues, the ice layer will spread here sooner or later! The children…”
Land looked at the closed doors at the end of the corridor, sweat constantly beading on his forehead.
Jianye and Leon’s hearts also sank to the bottom, and a sense of despair arose.
Such a tricky situation, perhaps only Black could have solved it.
But he was already dead, lying on the cold ground in the backyard.
The price of tonight’s victory had been too heavy.
“Land, at worst, the two of us will risk our lives to carry Irena away, as far as possible!”
Leon’s eyes were resolute. He was not someone who feared death. If he had been, he wouldn’t have joined the Dragon-Slaying Guard.
To trade one life for dozens of lives was worth it!
