The Agent’s Little Lies and a Grand Pink Temple

Chapter 141,168 words10 min read

Upon hearing my question, her gaze began to drift, and she remained silent for a long moment.

Even with my limited social experience, I could sense that the Agent was not as eccentric and unpredictable as she appeared.

On the contrary, she didn’t seem to lie, and her usual observations were meticulous. She had even explained things thoroughly when I showed confusion, suggesting she was inherently a very gentle and kind person.

So why, then, did she insist on maintaining such a facade?

After a prolonged silence, she finally stammered, “Well, think about it. I’m a female divine servant. If you were a male superior, and your character wasn’t exactly stellar, wouldn’t I be in danger? Haha…”

I feigned agreement with her logic. What followed, however, was the most infuriating revelation.

“Excuse me, Miss Ji,” I began, “I distinctly recall you telling me I was 158cm tall, didn’t you?”

Sweat began to bead on her forehead. I offered another strained smile.

“So why is it,” I pressed, “that when I measured myself with a tape measure three days ago, I was only 145cm? Can you explain that to me!”

I could tolerate many things, but why did she have to repeatedly reduce the height I cared about most? No wonder my eye-level felt significantly lower; I had almost died of anger when I measured myself out of curiosity.

I had thought that 158cm, while not tall, was certainly not ‘loli’ height among girls. Being constantly called a ‘legal loli’ was something even an uncle couldn’t bear, let alone an aunt!

She let out two dry chuckles, “Haha, well, you see… if I had told you back then that you were only 145cm, you definitely would have collapsed. Becoming a girl *and* shrinking? I was afraid you wouldn’t be able to handle it, so, haha…”

I clenched my fists. Yes, I wanted to hit her. How dare she, how utterly dare she! Yet, I quickly relaxed my grip.

There was nothing for it. What could I do when I couldn’t defeat her? A gentleman’s revenge, though, is never too late.

Still, my curiosity about the Agent’s true identity persisted. “Miss Agent,” I asked, “who exactly are you?”

She frowned slightly. “There’s nothing particularly noteworthy about my past. You just need to remember that I am your Agent now, and everything I do is for your benefit. As a novice deity, you simply need to listen to me. Consider me your manager, and that’s all.”

Despite my curiosity, there was little I could do if she refused to speak. Gazing out the window, I noticed that the scenery below had changed without me realizing.

She glanced out the window, then nodded. “No need to wait until we reach the station. Getting off here is the closest spot to your divine temple.”

I peered down. “It’s so high! Are you trying to kill me by making me fall?”

She let out a sigh. “Do you have even an ounce of self-awareness as a deity? How utterly tiresome!”

My neck recoiled at her shout. It seemed I had somehow angered her, so I quickly clamped my mouth shut, refraining from another word.

With a sharp *snap*, she pulled open the carriage door and nonchalantly leaped out. I hesitated for a moment, then followed her lead.

“Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh————————————”

This was infinitely more thrilling than any drop tower ride. We must have been tens of thousands of meters up!

I watched as the Agent, entirely without wings, executed a graceful freefall, legs pointed downwards.

Meanwhile, I was spinning wildly through the air despite having wings—yes, *spinning*. My wings flailed about haphazardly, causing me to rotate faster and faster.

Was I destined to become the first deity to ever crash to their death?

The Agent landed perfectly, her feet kicking up a subtle shockwave, yet the pristine pavement bore not a single crack.

The passersby—no, the passing *deities*—merely cast a fleeting glance before resuming their business. Such occurrences must have been incredibly common.

A moment later, I hit the ground with a resounding *thud*. Stars exploded before my eyes, and foam frothed at my lips. I was surely dead.

The Agent gave me a kick. “Get up! You’re a high-ranking deity; how embarrassing is this? I’m blushing for you.”

It was only then that I realized I was perfectly fine. Noticing the curious deities gathering to watch the spectacle, I quickly scrambled to my feet and hid behind the Agent.

Yet, I wasn’t afraid of them at all. It seemed I only feared humans, not deities. This was certainly a good sign.

“Let’s go,” she called out, then walked straight ahead. “Oh, and seeing you like this, so utterly useless, I can’t stand it. From now on, practice your basic divine arts properly. You can’t even fly!”

I felt a pang of injustice. I could actually perform most divine arts, but… but I had a fear of heights! My entire face crumpled into a bitter gourd, wrinkled as I stared at the Agent ahead.

Without turning her head, she called back, “If you don’t catch up, I’m leaving! And besides, a fear of heights can be overcome. Honestly, why are you two so alike?”

My head filled with question marks. “Alike in what way?”

“Nothing. Just hurry up and keep pace.”

“Ohh…” I reluctantly mumbled, then jogged to catch up.

Before long, she stopped in front of a magnificent grand hall. “We’re here. This is your divine temple.”

My eyelids twitched upon seeing the temple. Yes, it was grand, vast, and imposing—it certainly looked impressive.

However, one single detail utterly shattered its formidable aura.

It was entirely pink.

Rather than a divine temple, it resembled one of those Western princesses’ castles. The castle walls were adorned with countless pink roses and wild roses.

Within the flower fields—no, the *sea* of flowers—numerous white-robed divine servants bustled about, tending to them, creating a scene as beautiful as a painting.

My mouth twitched uncontrollably. If a true girl saw such a castle, she would undoubtedly be overjoyed, her maiden’s heart overflowing.

But… but I was a *fake* girl!

“This… this is my divine temple…?” I stared at the castle, a mixture of laughter and tears welling up within me. ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’

She nodded gravely. “This was specifically custom-made for you by Aklys, the Divine Lord, after hearing your bestowed title. In my opinion, it perfectly suits your title, so I had no objections.”

I turned to look at the Agent, shaking my head as I watched her struggle to suppress a smile, attempting to maintain an air of composure.

At first glance, the Agent seemed like an enigmatic individual. However, after spending even a little time with her, it became abundantly clear that she was simply a girl who wasn’t adept at hiding her emotions, her joys and frustrations plainly visible on her face.

Why, then, did she choose to appear so inscrutable? My curiosity deepened even further.
