“Little sister, come up.”
Seeing me only glare at her with wide, angry eyes, Ji Qianluo’s eyes curved into a smile as she waved her hand, beckoning me onto the stage.
‘Do you take me for a fool? The magic that mage unleashed earlier looked incredibly formidable. If that blasted me, wouldn’t I just be… Wait, no. Perhaps this way, I could even transmigrate back!’
‘As if! I would definitely be either injured or crippled. You’d have to support me for the rest of my life!’
The young mage was taken aback when he saw Her Majesty the Queen point out such a slender, frail girl.
He turned to Ji Qianluo and said, “Your Majesty, please exercise some restraint. How could such a small, thin girl possibly be my opponent?”
‘Though it sounded a bit off, you’re absolutely right, my mage brother.’
‘Ji Qianluo, you scoundrel, quickly put someone else up there!’
Ji Qianluo glanced at the mage and chuckled softly.
“Your words, I can interpret as you being afraid, perhaps?”
‘Hey, hey, Ji Qianluo, stop provoking him, alright? Just assume I’m scared of you, okay? If you keep this up, I’m the one who’ll end up dead!’
“Who, who’s afraid? Hmph, if you want to fight, then fight.”
‘Hey, hey, Mr. Mage, what happened to your earlier composure? You fell for it after just a little prodding. Isn’t that a bit too unprincipled?’
However, no matter how much I protested internally, everyone’s gaze had already uniformly shifted towards me.
Even if I didn’t want to, I had no choice but to brace myself and step forward.
I gritted my teeth, shooting one last glare at Ji Qianluo, who was watching me with a smug, gloating expression.
Then, I tossed my long red hair back and slowly walked onto the elevated platform.
Upon reaching the high platform, I steadied myself.
I unhappily stared at the mage opposite me, my mouth tightly pursed into a defiant pout, expressing the resentment in my heart.
The young mage still seemed to hesitate.
He glanced at my delicate face, and a blush crept onto his cheeks as he spoke.
“Um, young lady, my name is Aud Horsco. Uh, that, you don’t need to be afraid. Later, as long as you surrender, I won’t use harsh methods on you…”
The mage named Aud seemed to want to say more.
Suddenly, a loud shout echoed from below the stage, interrupting Aud mid-sentence.
“Wait, Your Majesty, I have something to say!”
Both I and the crowd turned our heads to look down.
Once I recognized who it was, tears immediately welled up in my eyes.
‘Lance, at crucial moments, you really are the most reliable!’
The speaker was none other than Lance.
He stood with his hand raised high, his expression solemn.
At that moment, he appeared so tall and imposing to me, truly a savior.
Ji Qianluo narrowed her eyes, and it took her a moment to recognize Lance.
She then said, “You are… Count Lance of the Paritch family? Come up and speak.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
Lance nodded.
He slowly walked towards the high platform, through the gap that the students had made for him.
Once he ascended the platform, Ji Qianluo smiled and asked Lance, “So, Count Paritch, what matter do you wish to address?”
Lance nodded and replied, “Actually, Your Majesty, this young lady on the stage is my fiancée, Miss Airi William Barth James. Therefore, I…”
‘Any other time, if this masochistic pervert claimed I was his fiancée, I would undoubtedly beat him senseless. But this time, I’d forgive him.’
‘Come on, Lance, quickly declare your opposition to this farce! Rescue me from this fiery pit!’
“I wish to stand by Airi’s side, to cheer her on and offer my support.”
‘I’ll rip your mouth off, Lance!’
Lance was instantly added to my mental list of people to glare at.
Ji Qianluo, too, adopted a peculiar expression.
She gazed at Lance with an amused, playful look.
However, I’d bet anything that deep down, she was secretly mocking Lance for claiming I was his fiancée.
“Lance, you…”
I looked at Lance, just about to curse him out, but Ji Qianluo cleared her throat twice, cutting me off.
It was clear she intended to forbid any further conversation between us.
She then said, “Hmm, very well, you may stand aside. And you, little sister—Airi, wasn’t it? I have high hopes for you. How about this: if you win the match, I’ll grant you any one condition you ask for.”
“Wh—”
My eyelid twitched instantly.
‘Grant me any one condition? This… this is too tempting. Oh, no, no, it’s not like I was thinking of any sordid conditions. I just want her to send me back to my original world.’
‘Besides, in this girl’s body I currently inhabit, there isn’t much I could do to her anyway.’
‘Ah, no, wait. I probably could still do quite a lot.’
‘Hmph, I would never tell you what I just thought of for a split second!’
