A beautiful young girl with silver hair and violet-blue pupils, clad in a white long dress, sat primly on a wooden chair at the desk nestled by the window.
With utmost seriousness and meticulous care, she was scribbling away with a carbon pen in a book titled [Low-Level Advanced Ice Magic Theory].
If one were to look closely, they would discover that every available margin across the book’s pages was densely filled with the girl’s handwriting—a fresh, elegant, and gracefully elongated script that flowed like clouds and water, utterly pleasing to the eye.
“‘Hmm, hmm, hmm. It seems she truly is a good child, far better than the original Leya,'” the System mused. “‘With a host like this, I imagine I won’t have to worry so much in the future!'”
…………
The System, however, felt fortunate that Leya, in her Emilia form, merely furrowed her brow with a hint of displeasure before resuming her furious scribbling. Had this been Leya in her usual state…
‘No need to even consider it,’ the System concluded after a brief thought. ‘The former Leya? How could she possibly do such a thing!?’
Hahahahaha—
However, more than fifty minutes had already elapsed. Soon, the transformation time limit would be reached.
This prompted the System to exclaim, “‘Time flies, like flowing water without mercy. Good times always pass so quickly.'”
‘Once the time is up, Leya, returned to her normal state, probably won’t be like this anymore…’
“‘Hey, System, there’s one thing I don’t quite understand,'” Leya began. “‘Last time, when I transformed into Saber, I had a complete, mature set of sword techniques in my mind, just as I’m very clear on ice magic now. But why does all that knowledge disappear once the transformation ends?'”
“‘Ah, those are considered inherent skills for each character. They emerge when the character appears,'” the System explained. “‘For instance, Saber’s sword techniques are unique to her; thus, they are forgotten once the transformation concludes.'”
“‘Sword techniques, huh… Then, I wonder if I can record all my new insights about them during the transformation,'” Leya pondered. “‘After the transformation ends, I could then practice them by referring to my notes, couldn’t I?'”
Leya asked, her voice brimming with hope.
“‘That… theoretically, there shouldn’t be a problem,'” the System replied, sounding hesitant.
“‘That’s wonderful! Truly wonderful!'”
“‘Eh?'”
Suddenly, for some inexplicable reason, the System couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss.
And indeed, Leya did not disappoint the System. Instead, with a look of intense excitement, she picked up the [Advanced Ice Magic Theory] book, pointing to the densely packed notes within.
“‘Look, System!'” she exclaimed. “‘I’ve transcribed all the ice magic insights Emilia knows! If only I had more time, I believe I could have summarized even more!'”
“‘Host… you…'”
“‘Hmm, hmm, hmm, I also think I’m truly too clever! Ghehehe—'”
“‘You—you—you—you—you—you—what exactly did you write all over such an important, powerful magic book!'”
“‘My magic insights, of course. Is there a problem?'”
Leya retorted, genuinely bewildered.
“‘And here I thought you were diligently studying, Host, but instead, you…'”
“‘Oh, come on… don’t say that, System. Do you even know how incredible I am right now?'”
The System: ‘…………’
Ignoring the now-silent System, Leya confidently opened the window.
Leya closed her eyes, sensing the flow of magic in the air, and within it, faintly visible, seemingly present yet absent… magic spirits!
“‘As expected, I can truly do this now…'”
With a mix of emotions, she gazed at the small spirits that swiftly appeared around her, radiating a dazzling blue light.
‘If I’m not mistaken, I shouldn’t be able to see these in my normal state,’ she mused. ‘I truly never imagined such magical beings could exist in this world.’
“‘Host, I can tell you quite responsibly that even your original self could easily see these magic spirits. It’s only due to your current power level that you can’t perceive them. And most importantly…'”
“‘Shh—don’t speak,'” Leya interrupted. “‘Let me try to communicate with these spirits first.'”
“‘Uh…'”
Three minutes later…
“‘What did you tell them?'”
“‘I told them to go see Erica and tell her not to be afraid,'” Leya stated calmly.
“‘It’s amazing you still have the leisure to do such things, sigh…'”
“‘Hm?'”
“‘Host, perhaps you should look at the situation below first. Then you can decide whether it’s her who should be afraid, or you…'”
…………
At these words, Leya seemed to sense that something was indeed amiss. She immediately dispersed the small spirits around her and peered down.
[Hiss—]
While it wasn’t a sea of people, beneath her window, at least dozens, perhaps even a hundred individuals, had gathered.
She gasped sharply, then without a moment’s hesitation, with a decisive *thwack*, Leya slammed the window shut.
“‘Well, are you scared now?'” the System teased, sounding highly amused.
Leya nodded, but then, a flicker of anger crossed her face. “‘There were so many people down there! Why didn’t you warn me?'”
“‘I wanted to warn you,'” the System replied, “‘but you wouldn’t let me speak.'”
“‘You…'”
The System’s reasoning was sound, leaving Leya utterly speechless.
Fortunately, she was on the second floor. Furthermore, due to the limited light, the people below shouldn’t have been able to clearly make out her appearance.
Even if the little spirits had been seen, most humans would likely only be curious. After all, elves were rare in the Kingdom of Alvia, and few would know that elves could perceive such spirits. Should any real problems arise, Leya could always concoct a plausible lie.
“‘Making such a commotion, someone from the hotel will probably come to check on things soon, sigh…'” the System lamented. “‘It seems Host’s task won’t be completed today.'”
“‘Task? You mean the task involving those three large-scale magic spells?'”
“‘Precisely. You’ve spent this entire hour recording Emilia’s magic insights, so I’m afraid…'”
“‘To put it simply, I’ve pretty much learned them.'”
“‘Ah, I know, I know, you don’t need to explain… wait, Host, did you just say?'”
“‘In the first twenty minutes, I had already grasped three of the large-scale ice magic spells documented in the book. Didn’t you notice the top halves of the notes are all related information?'”
“‘Furthermore, I believe that in this current state, if given a few more days for practical application, it wouldn’t be difficult to successfully cast them.'”
“‘This… alright,'” the System conceded. “‘I didn’t realize you possessed such undeniable talent in ice magic now. While the character you’ve transformed into certainly has strong learning abilities, it shouldn’t be *this* rapid…’
‘Could it be an innate bonus from the Host’s own learning ability?’
At this moment, even the System couldn’t be sure what the true cause of this phenomenon was.
And if it truly was due to some inherent factor within Leya herself, then perhaps its Host…
‘She might be even more interesting than I imagined!’
“‘Well, what of it? But compared to Saber last time, Emilia feels much easier to control. At least she doesn’t go against my own thoughts!'”
“‘Mm-hmm, after all, she’s become a bit of a natural airhead, opening windows without thinking of the consequences, hahahahahahaha—'”
“‘What!? You, System, you dare to mock me!? That was an accident, an accident, do you understand?'”
“‘An accident? Hahahahahaha! Then tell me, Host, do you remember the desk you moved in?'”
“‘Mm-hmm, I painstakingly dragged it here piece by piece from the living room, of course I remember.'”
Leya nodded, not sensing anything amiss.
However, upon hearing this, the System burst into even louder laughter, gasping for breath as it spoke: “‘But, but wasn’t there already a small desk right by the bed in this very bedroom? Hahahahahahahaha—I’m dying of laughter! You had your magic books on *that* desk before you even moved this one, and in the end, you didn’t even glance at it before going to drag in another desk, hahahahahaha—'”
