A Moment of Calm Amidst the Chaos

Chapter 30 • 771 words • 7 min read

Slowly, she massaged my back, and despite the current situation, it was incredibly comfortable. Her touch was just right, her small hands soft and soothing. There was nothing to complain about in her technique.

However, I found myself at a loss for where to look. Why was there a mirror in front of me? This way, I could catch glimpses of Xilinka’s form behind me, and I hadn’t yet fully adjusted to seeing my own body like this. It felt like I was looking at someone else’s, and I was overwhelmed with a sense of guilt.

If I looked to the right, I’d see Mifeier playing with Lavishly Karafar, which obviously wasn’t an option. So, I turned my head to the left, even though it was just their discarded clothes. It was better than the other directions, at least.

But I forgot that I could simply close my eyes. Indeed, pleasure can cloud one’s judgment, and even gods can be tempted to fall.

A stream of water flowed over my spine, and I shuddered. Then, from behind, I heard, ‘I’m done. Could you help me scrub my back? It’s hard to reach on my own.’

What? I was supposed to scrub Xilinka’s back? I started to search for an excuse to refuse.

‘If you don’t want to, it’s fine.’ She said, turning away to sit on a nearby stool, adjusting the faucet.

‘N-no…’ After all, she had helped me, and it would be heartless to refuse her. ‘I’ve just never done this before, so I’m not sure how to.’

She turned to face me on the stool. ‘It’s not difficult. Just do what I did for you.’

I had no choice but to comply. Pushing further would be rude. Slowly, I approached her from behind.

Xilinka’s back was facing me, her delicate shoulder blades moving gently with each breath. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. Don’t rush, I told myself. Calm down, stay calm.

I poured some water over her back, and then from a small box nearby, I took a transparent soap, rubbing it gently in my hands before placing them on her back.

The moment my hands touched her skin, I was struck by how soft it was. Were all girls this soft? When I bathed myself, I thought I was softer than before, but touching another girl for the first time, I realized the true softness of a woman’s body.

I couldn’t help but stare, mesmerized by the sensation. It was as if an innate protective instinct had been awakened within me. This, I thought, must be the purest form of beauty…

‘Mm?’ Xilinka made a sound of confusion as I paused, my hands resting on her back.

I quickly started to rub again, and strangely, my mind felt much calmer now. The softness beneath my fingers was soothing, not arousing, except for the lingering urge to protect. Was I already becoming strange?

I rinsed the soap from her back, nodding with satisfaction as I turned to leave, but in that moment, she spun around, passing me to step into the bath.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to. I had been trying so hard to keep my eyes elsewhere, but now I was struck dead, my health bar instantly depleted.

I take back what I said. My soul is still that of a healthy young man, because… I can’t take it. She’s so adorable.

I hurriedly jumped into the bath, submerging myself as much as possible, trying to minimize my presence.

Mifeier and Lavishly Karafar, who were playing nearby, finished washing and joined the bath. Suddenly, Lavishly Karafar swam over, wrapping herself around me.

Why are you swimming in the bath, are you a child? And why are you hugging me?…

‘Little Mengmeng, why did you become a Dream God?’ Lavishly Karafar finally voiced the question that had been on her mind all afternoon. ‘You’d definitely be a super powerful Warrior God too,’ Xilinka added with a nod.

‘Well, it was a suggestion from a, um… a familiar of mine. They said I was suited to be a Dream God, so here I am.’ I lied a little, as revealing that I was forcibly assigned would seem strange, and I was still pondering who this agent truly was.

Lavishly Karafar nodded, not pressing further. She probably thought I had my reasons. Seizing the moment, I quickly freed myself from her embrace and jumped out of the bath. ‘I’m done. I’m heading back to the room.’

Lavishly Karafar gave me a sly smile but didn’t respond.
