Leixar smiled. “It’s nothing, really. Just get to know your deskmate better. I’m quite curious about her story.” She finished, winking playfully.
‘Could I refuse? This just won’t do. I can’t manage it; she’s absolutely terrifying.’
“Um…” I tried to protest.
“Fifty points.” Leixar casually flipped through the book in her hand. “If you have no objections, you may go. I will create opportunities for you to interact.”
I opened my mouth, but no words came out. Turning, I walked back to my seat, my head bowed low.
Time and again, I mustered my courage, only to deflate instantly the moment I turned and met that icy aura.
Gritting my teeth, I decided it was either success or surrender. “Um, are you Qianyue?” I tried to keep my voice and tone as normal as possible.
She tilted her head slightly, a frown creasing her brow, and looked at me. “Is there something you need?”
‘So scary,’ I thought, trembling, forcing down the fear that clawed at my chest. “Actually, the teacher said we should all get to know each other better. After all, we’ll be classmates from now on.” I tried my best to appear natural.
She lowered her head, pondering for a moment, a hint of hesitation in her posture. Then, her demeanor hardened abruptly. “There’s absolutely no need. You can find anyone else. As for me, just pretend I don’t exist.”
I froze. ‘No, no, this is terrible, I’m doomed! Whether it’s the fifty-point deduction over there or this terrifying purple-haired girl here, I’m utterly terrified of both…’
‘Why is this happening to me?’ I told myself to calm down. A moment later, I spoke, “But you’re my deskmate. If I can’t even understand my deskmate, how can I understand anyone else?”
She looked at me again, her tone slightly softer this time. “It’s unnecessary. Perhaps if you truly understood me, you wouldn’t be able to communicate well with others.”
She had replied! Regardless of the content, her tone had softened, at least. Seizing the advantage, I pressed on, “But I believe everyone needs to communicate properly with others.”
She seemed a little annoyed. She turned her head, but upon seeing my sincere expression, she suppressed her anger.
“I’ve already told you, it’s not necessary. If you insist on making me do something, all I can say is, no comment.” While not truly furious, her tone was quite unfriendly.
I flinched, pulling my head back, and dared not speak further. Instead, I pondered if I had just stumbled upon some taboo of hers.
However, I knew that pressing her with more questions would only backfire. For now, silence was the wisest course.
Thus, the atmosphere reverted to its previous state. This time, however, there was less fear and more awkwardness.
The agonizing morning finally ended. The moment I stepped out of the classroom, I felt as if reborn.
Now, freed from the terrifying purple-haired Qianyue, my brain could finally function normally. I vaguely recalled them mentioning their ages earlier; wasn’t the youngest one over a hundred and forty years old?
Back in the Fourth Campus, I still had an arena match to fight that afternoon. It was truly vexing!
Stepping out of the teleportation array, the scene remained the same. Lavishly Karafar and her two companions were already waiting outside. Suddenly, a wave of curiosity washed over me, and I found myself looking at Lavishly Karafar with interest.
“Hey, Lavishly Karafar, how old are you?” I blurted out directly.
Hearing my question, she tapped my forehead with her finger. “To ask such an impolite question,” she chided, using quite a bit of force. I winced in pain and took a step back.
Seeing my reaction, she nodded in satisfaction. “As for me, I’m still considered young in this school. I’m twenty-six this year, mm…”
Before I could ask further, she continued, “Xilinka is also twenty-six, and Mifeier looks to be only twenty-three.” Then, she turned her gaze to me. “So, Little Mengmeng, how old are you?”
My feelings were quite complex at that moment. I had initially viewed myself as an older brother figure who hadn’t quite adapted to the environment yet. Xilinka appeared at most sixteen, Lavishly Karafar seemed no older than me, and Mifeier looked barely twelve. However, considering the ages of those divine classmates I’d met earlier, their apparent youth now seemed oddly low.
Still, I had another question. “So, isn’t it the 41st year of school? What about you all?”
Under normal circumstances, this school operated on a system where each grade spanned fifty years, not counting irregular promotions.
She shrugged. “You were able to transfer in, weren’t you? Did we ever say we were admitted during the entrance examination?” Then, as if suddenly remembering something, she added, “Come on, let’s go eat first. Afterward, we can briefly discuss our individual strengths to prepare for this afternoon’s battle.”
I nodded. This was indeed crucial. Since avoiding the official match wasn’t an option, sharpening our skills at the last minute was essential. Even if it didn’t make us faster, it would at least make us shine.
In the cafeteria hall, we settled onto a floating platform suspended in the air. This platform wasn’t far from the ground, only about eight or nine meters up, as I wasn’t particularly good with heights.
Once seated, Lavishly Karafar was the first to introduce herself. “I am Lavishly Karafar, an explosive-type Law God, a High-tier Wingless Divine Being. I possess an innate divine art, from which my title, ‘Annihilation,’ is derived—a wide-area destructive divine art.”
Xilinka then spoke. “I am a God of War, skilled in explosive power, a Low-tier Winged Divine Being. Lavishly Karafar should have already mentioned my innate divine art to you; it’s called ‘Unstoppable Advance.'”
I nodded, confirming that Lavishly Karafar had indeed told me.
Mifeier quickly followed. “I am Mifeier, a High-tier Winged Divine Being, a War-Mage God. I suppose you could call me an all-rounder. My innate divine art is ‘Blessing,’ and its effect is a group-wide stat amplification, much like a Phantom God’s.”
After their introductions were complete, all three turned to me in unison. “So, Little Mengmeng, what about you?”
“Huh? Me?” I was a little stunned.
