Chu Annian’s hand, holding the phone to record, trembled slightly. She pressed down on her wrist, forcing herself to calm her racing heart.
Having undergone training at the Special Incident Investigation Bureau, Chu Annian could discern unusual phenomena. She could tell whether an entity was human or spectral, assess the intensity of Yin energy in a location, and even pinpoint the entrance to a ‘Ghost Realm’.
According to the Bureau’s regulations, any discovered Ghost Realm was to be reported immediately. The Bureau would then dispatch specialized personnel to investigate and, if possible, neutralize it.
After all, some Ghost Realms were incredibly perilous. Not long ago, a new one had emerged in a small mountain village not far from Baishi City.
While its rating by the Special Incident Investigation Bureau hadn’t been particularly high, its danger was undeniable.
It had resulted in the loss of over a dozen Bureau members, with an entire operational team making the ultimate sacrifice.
Such malevolent Ghost Realms, if not dealt with promptly, could wreak widespread havoc.
As Chu Annian watched the Ghost Realm unfold on the live stream, a strange sense of familiarity washed over her.
“This isn’t good.”
Chu Annian cursed under her breath. She quickly found a stand to continue recording the live broadcast with the heavy, iron-box-like phone. Simultaneously, she pulled a laptop from her luggage.
After powering it on, she accessed the Special Incident Investigation Bureau’s database and swiftly typed “Baishi City” as a keyword.
Almost immediately, several entries appeared, all strikingly highlighted in red without exception.
“Baishi City certainly has a lot of Ghost Realms… hospital-related ones, let me see, I found it! Stitched Lips Hospital… Level: Extremely Dangerous?”
Comparing the database description with the live stream footage from the paper-effigy phone, Chu Annian quickly confirmed the young girl’s location. It was indeed the elusive Ghost Realm known as Stitched Lips Hospital, situated near Baishi City Hospital.
The database contained scant information about the Stitched Lips Hospital Ghost Realm, yet every single word sent shivers down her spine.
“Please note, this Ghost Realm is extremely dangerous. Even professional personnel should not enter without authorization. Any sighting must be immediately reported for processing.”
“Stitched Lips Hospital has existed for over fifty years. To date, a total of 135 investigators have been dispatched into the Stitched Lips Hospital Ghost Realm… none have ever returned alive.”
“Method of response: Keep away. Immediately keep away!”
Chu Annian read through the entries. The concise words painted a vivid, terrifying picture of Stitched Lips Hospital’s extreme danger.
This Ghost Realm had been discovered over fifty years ago, yet after all that time, it remained unresolved.
Given its profound peril, it was no wonder it had been classified as ‘Extremely Dangerous’.
“Hello, yes, this is Chu Annian. Please connect me to the Director. I have an urgent matter to report.”
Without a moment’s hesitation, Chu Annian directly dialed the Special Incident Investigation Bureau’s emergency line.
Shortly after, a weary, aged voice emerged from the receiver.
“Annian? What is it now? Has Jin Baihan’s team made another new discovery?”
“No, Director. It’s the Stitched Lips Hospital in Baishi City. That Ghost Realm has reappeared.”
A momentary silence followed Chu Annian’s words on the other end of the line.
“You entered Stitched Lips Hospital?”
“No, not me. It’s the paper-effigy phone I brought out from a Ghost Realm…”
Chu Annian recounted her entire experience to the Director. On the other end, the Director’s brow furrowed deeply, and he remained speechless for a long moment.
“That young girl is likely in grave danger. You mentioned she’s alive; can we investigate her identity based on her appearance?”
“I’m checking now!”
Chu Annian didn’t dare to pause for a second. She simultaneously monitored the live stream on the paper-effigy phone, ensured the recording was functioning, conversed with the Director, and ceaselessly sifted through data.
After all, this was rare video footage from within a Ghost Realm. Yet, the thought that she might soon record the beautiful young girl’s tragic death within it sent a faint ache through Chu Annian’s heart.
Suddenly, however, she noticed something peculiar: the live stream’s comment section had inexplicably come alive.
“Director… something isn’t right. I can’t find any information on this young girl. Her public personal data is even scarcer than a newborn’s.”
“And what’s more, the comments in her live stream are instructing her on how to escape the Ghost Realm…”
“No! She escaped! She actually escaped from the Stitched Lips Hospital Ghost Realm!”
The live footage showed them discovering a hidden iron door in a corner, then prying open its lock with a paperclip…
