Chapter 18 : Werewolf Princess I

As I took down the human users one by one, a familiar scent of blood suddenly hit me.

It was the scent of Aurel, who always smiled brightly beside me.

However, there was no time to be distracted.

Shing!

The slash of my blade, wrapped in dark shadows, cut through a large wall of the building.

Behind the collapsing wall was the human user sniper who had been targeting me.

“Damn!”

Was he startled by my sudden appearance?

The human user, [Slayer Chunsam], quickly started to flee.

Watching him, I wondered why they had attacked us.

If they had just stayed quiet, none of this would have happened.

Had they not considered assessing our strength?

Before the world changed, even in the Blood Carnival, people chose their fights carefully.

It was common to hide silently if a stronger opponent passed by.

Just as I could gather information on users through my Magic Eye, the human users must have had some means to assess their targets.

Tap!

As I lightly kicked off the ground, the wings on my back spread wide.

Like a large bird flying on the wind.

I flew quickly towards the opponent.

“Aaah!”

The fleeing Slayer Chunsam looked back.

His expression turned to one of horror.

Fear stiffened his movements.

At that moment, another scent of blood wafted on the wind.

It was human blood; it seemed Aurel and Hwanggu had teamed up to eliminate another user.

I felt a sense of relief.

Bang-!

A gunshot rang out.

My Magic Eye, burning brightly, indicated the trajectory of the attack.

As soon as I heard the gunshot, my wings moved lightly.

The large wings wrapped around my body, and a white flash struck them.

Thud-!

The impact was considerable, but the attack didn’t penetrate the wings.

It seemed the silver bullets had run out. I folded my wings and descended.

Even then, the opponent’s resistance continued.

His desperate expression was filled with a will to live.

Seeing him cry and attack me made me almost pity him.

But I didn’t stop my advance.

Bang-!

Slash-!

Reading the trajectory of the bullets, I swung my katana. Each time I sliced through a white flash, the katana’s durability quickly decreased. It didn’t matter. There were more weapons within the shadows.

Bang-!

Slice-!

Bang-!

Slash!

Repeating this process several times,

I noticed cracks forming on the repeatedly struck katana.

Suddenly, I saw Slayer Chunsam smiling subtly.

Ah.

So this was his plan.

Bang-!

Another gunshot rang out.

I sensed the katana’s end.

Slash-!

Clang!

The katana split along the cracked part.

I looked down at the now-shortened katana.

[Broken Matte Katana]

A katana damaged beyond use.

Cannot be repaired.

The item description had changed.

As I confirmed this, Slayer Chunsam fired again.

Bang-!

A white flash flew quickly towards me.

But I anticipated this attack as well.

Without a hint of panic, I moved my body.

A large step forward.

My extended leg firmly hit the ground.

Thud-!

I reached into the shadows.

My small hand disappeared into the unseen shadows.

Soon, my fingers grasped something solid.

It was another katana I had stashed in the shadows.

Without hesitation, I swung it.

Swoosh-!

A black waterfall of shadows cascaded from the katana.

The white flash was swallowed by the black waterfall created by the katana.

Bombs and gunfire.

Slayer Chunsam had used everything he had.

Seeing me draw a new sword, he sighed deeply.

The stench of gunpowder filled the air. As I thought this, Slayer Chunsam pointed his gun at his own head.

“Planning to commit suicide?”

Slayer Chunsam didn’t answer my question.

He just looked at me with a gaze mixed with hatred and anger.

Bang-!

“Ah…”

A sudden gunshot.

Red blood spurted high into the air, and Slayer Chunsam’s body collapsed.

I had many questions, so I intended to keep him alive, but Slayer Chunsam took his own life without hesitation.

An incomprehensible choice.

Why did he choose to end his life?

I sighed and headed towards where Aurel and Hwanggu were.

Finding their location wasn’t difficult.

I just had to follow the scent of Aurel’s blood.

The scent led me to an abandoned building.

I cautiously stepped inside.

A chilling sound reached my ears.

Crunch, crack, snap.

I once witnessed a large dog chewing on a raw chicken.

The sound I heard now was similar to that.

“Aurel. Hwanggu.”

I called out their names just in case.

The bone-crunching sound stopped, followed by hurried footsteps.

“Charlotte!”

“Charlotte!”

The blood-soaked girls emerged from inside.

The first thing I checked was Aurel’s condition.

Her arm was bandaged, but she seemed fine.

Judging by the blood around her mouth, she and Hwanggu had been feeding on the human user they killed.

[Aurel]

Level: 12

Race: Vampire

Health: 78%

Mana: 100%

Emotional State: Mild Sexual Arousal

According to the information from the Magic Eye, there were no significant issues except for a slight decrease in health.

In this case, waiting for natural healing or drinking a potion would quickly resolve it.

Next, I checked Hwanggu’s appearance.

Her hair had grown longer, her ears were larger, and a fluffy tail protruded from under her waist.

She looked more like a wolf than when we first met.

[Hwanggu (Werewolf Princess)]

Level: 20

Race: Werewolf

Health: 100%

Mana: 60%

Emotional State: Excitement, Joy, Happiness

This was the information about Hwanggu from the Magic Eye.

I nodded. As expected, Hwanggu’s level was 20.

Judging by her mana usage, it seemed Hwanggu was the one who took down the human user.

Werewolf Princess…

I noted Hwanggu’s original nickname and kept silent.

She disliked the cool names I gave her, yet she used such a nickname herself?

I wondered how Hwanggu would react if she learned her original nickname.

I silently watched Hwanggu.

She was chewing something with her small mouth.

I didn’t need to ask to know.

The strong smell of blood wafted from her small mouth as she chewed.

“Are both of you unharmed?”

“Aurel is injured!”

The one who answered was Hwanggu.

Her ears perked up, and her tail wagged.

She pointed at Aurel’s arm with shining eyes.

“Hmm…”

Aurel glanced at me and touched her arm.

Did she think I would scold her?

I sighed and pulled out a red potion from the shadows.

Up close, I could smell the faint scent of silver mixed with Aurel’s blood.

It must have been a wound from a silver bullet.

It wouldn’t heal easily.

“Drink this.”

“Gasp… Is it okay for me to take it?”

I silently nodded.

Although I didn’t have many potions left, we could probably find some by searching the pockets of the human users we had just killed.

Aurel began to drink the potion I handed her.

She closed her eyes tightly and stood on tiptoe, gulping it down like a child forced to drink milk they didn’t like.

“Hwanggu, Aurel.”

“Yes?”

“Are you busy?”

I asked just in case.

It seemed they had been in the middle of their meal, given the lingering scent of blood inside the building.

But both Aurel and Hwanggu shook their heads quickly.

I led the two girls out of the building.

With the battle over, it was time to collect the spoils.

Maybe because all the threats were gone, Hwanggu seemed happy and wagged her tail cheerfully.

“Hwanggu.”

“Yes?”

“Aren’t you curious about your original name?”

“My original name?”

I nodded while touching my left eye.

Hwanggu crossed her arms and started to ponder.

I tilted my head, wondering if she wasn’t curious about her original name.

Was this something to ponder over?

“Charlotte.”

“Yes.”

“I like things as they are now.”

“You like things as they are?”

“Yes!”

With that, Hwanggu wagged her tail and bounced forward.

I tilted my head, watching her.

She didn’t seem bothered by the fact that she had lost her memory and didn’t know who she was or what she had been doing.

Hwanggu sniffed around and diligently gathered the bodies of the human users I had dealt with.

There were three bodies in total.

One with a shattered head, one crushed from above, and one sliced in half by a sword—all in poor condition.

Hwanggu wagged her tail vigorously in front of the three bodies.

Her tail spun like a propeller, which was quite impressive.

Of course, Aurel also drooled at the sight of the human corpses.

“Do you want to eat that badly…?”

“Gasp…!”

“Yes…!”

Aurel wiped the drool from her mouth in surprise at my question, while Hwanggu raised her hand and nodded eagerly.

They seemed ready to devour the corpses if I allowed it.

“Wait a moment.”

I said, rummaging through the bodies.

I managed to gather two close-combat items like military longswords, five healing items including bandages and potions, and a large blood-soaked map of Korea.

“This is…!”

As I unfolded the wet map, I saw large dog drawings at specific sections.

It seemed to be a code only they could understand.

I tried using the Magic Eye, but it revealed nothing.

[Map]

It’s a map.

Soaked in blood.
