The Allure of the Eerie Domain

Chapter 63741 words7 min read

If she could overcome the eerie domain, she would surely become a dependable senior in the eyes of the new junior.

‘Becoming a cool and dependable senior? I can certainly achieve that…’

‘Indeed, I’m no longer a mere rookie, constantly hiding behind a senior’s back.’

‘Mentoring a junior… particularly a beautiful young woman. The mere thought of it fills me with a certain thrill!’

Chu Annian had always harbored a secret, an inclination she barely dared to acknowledge: her romantic interests had veered from the norm since her high school days.

Outwardly, however, she maintained a flawless facade, never betraying even a hint of her true self, not even after entering the workforce.

Her affections gravitated towards sweet, innocent girls, the kind of pure, blossoming presence that was increasingly rare in the current social climate.

Even if such a gentle soul were to appear, she would, in all likelihood, be tainted and corrupted by the prevailing societal filth.

Yet Bai Wanwan was different. She embodied the very ideal Chu Annian had always secretly yearned for.

Thus, the prospect of working alongside such a junior filled Chu Annian with profound joy at the mere thought.

Naturally, she resolved to protect this endearing junior, ensuring she remained safely within her gaze… Wait.

“Where is she?”

Chu Annian scanned her surroundings, only to find that Bai Wanwan, who had been right there moments ago, had inexplicably disappeared. A jolt of alarm shot through her.

Wandering aimlessly in a hospital teeming with the eerie domain’s activity was an ill-advised venture. Having just narrowly escaped its clutches, the last thing she needed was for Bai Wanwan to be ensnared once more.

Meanwhile, Bai Wanwan was already sprinting towards the anomalous floor nestled between the ninth and tenth levels.

Happening now, Bai Wanwan was sprinting directly towards the extra floor located between the ninth and tenth levels.

How did she know this extra floor had manifested once more?

The reason was quite simple: earlier, while scrutinizing the corpse, her peripheral vision had caught sight of a figure in a hospital gown standing at the entrance to Deng Shuqi’s brother’s room.

It was undeniably Deng Shuqi’s brother!

The comatose patient had risen from his bed once more!

What truly sent a shiver down Bai Wanwan’s spine was the fact that no one else seemed to notice the comatose patient who had descended from his bed.

No one, that is, except Bai Wanwan and Deng Shuqi!

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Deng Shuqi’s brother emerged, barefoot and with his head bowed low.

Yet, every single gaze remained fixed on Bai Wanwan, none of them so much as glancing back.

Deng Shuqi’s brother then simply beckoned to her, and as if spellbound, Deng Shuqi began to follow his every step, moving inexorably towards the stairwell.

Without a moment to spare for deliberation, Bai Wanwan seized Liu Hanzhi’s arm and rushed after them.

This was no laughing matter. Even with her ‘knees for brains,’ Bai Wanwan knew precisely where that comatose patient was leading Deng Shuqi.

It was, after all, a human life at stake, and moreover, a significant client of hers. Bai Wanwan simply could not stand by idly.

As expected, between the tenth and ninth floors, the eerie domain’s rusted iron gate had materialized once again.

The pitch-black corridor was permeated by a strange, sickening blend of disinfectant and blood, a scent that churned the stomach.

Unlike their previous encounter, the iron door, which had been tightly shut, now stood ajar.

Despite being an ostensibly enclosed space, Bai Wanwan could distinctly perceive a current of wind steadily flowing into the inky corridor.

“Deng Shuqi!”

Bai Wanwan, forming a hand seal, cried out Deng Shuqi’s name.

Deng Shuqi, who had already taken a half-step into the eerie domain, visibly faltered, freezing in her tracks.

Overjoyed, Bai Wanwan swiftly closed the distance, intending to seize her and prevent her from advancing further into the eerie domain.

But in the very next instant, Deng Shuqi’s brother abruptly extended an arm and yanked her into the eerie domain.

Both figures vanished as though swallowed by the air itself, completely disappearing into the shadowy corridor.

Bai Wanwan’s fingers trembled imperceptibly. She had been a step too late, after all.

‘What now? Should I venture inside to rescue her?’

‘Deng Shuqi, a mere mortal, confronting an eerie domain of this magnitude—she would undoubtedly meet a gruesome end!’
