“Wanwan, you’re quite the little rich lady now! You’ll have to treat your elder sister to a meal sometime.”
“I remember the night view from the Riverside Hotel in Bai City is quite stunning. If you ever invite me, your elder sister will teach you a few things privately!”
Chu Annian made an ambiguous joke, but Bai Wanwan paid it no mind. Her thoughts were instead fixed on the anomalous item in Chu Annian’s possession.
“That’s easily arranged, Sister Annian. I recall you having a papercraft phone, don’t you?”
Hearing Bai Wanwan’s question, Chu Annian paused for a moment before nodding.
“Yes, that’s right. It’s how I saw your livestream and came to know you.”
Chu Annian didn’t try to hide it. After all, she and Bai Wanwan were colleagues and comrades-in-arms; understanding each other’s strengths was hardly a bad thing. They might even encounter each other in an anomalous domain someday.
“Could you possibly lend it to me for a while? I’m trying to find a way to connect to underworld livestreams. Regular phones seem to require specific conditions to broadcast from there.”
“But your papercraft phone, I believe it would work perfectly.”
Bai Wanwan spoke with earnestness. Chu Annian considered it for a moment, then agreed without the slightest hesitation.
The papercraft phone was an anomalous item, and its ability to display many incredible scenes gave it a high classification within the Special Incident Investigation Bureau.
Yet, in Chu Annian’s hands, it could only passively receive information. Handed over to Bai Wanwan, however, things might be different.
Chu Annian had seen Bai Wanwan’s livestreams, which featured interactive bullet comments. During the Stitched Lips Hospital incident, a crucial bullet comment had even guided Bai Wanwan on how to escape.
Chu Annian believed that Bai Wanwan acquiring intelligence this way would be far more effective than her own passive reception of information.
“I can have someone deliver it to you. Study it, but please, be extremely careful not to damage it. It’s made of paper, so it’s very afraid of water.”
Chu Annian usually refrained from touching it, fearing her hand sweat might dampen and ruin it.
“Oh, right, Wanwan, how did the interrogation of that little female ghost go? Did you manage to find out the function of the Ghost Hand Golden Needle?”
Her superiors had been pressing for an update just moments ago, but Chu Annian had held them off. After all, Bai Wanwan had only just emerged from an anomalous domain and needed time to recover.
“Its function is to repair damaged souls, somewhat akin to stitching a wound. However, I don’t know how to use it; only Shi Xiangning does. Oh, Shi Xiangning is the name of that little female ghost.”
“So, I plan to keep her by my side. This little female ghost is quite foolish; she practically sold herself to me.”
As Bai Wanwan spoke, she glanced at the two little female ghosts hiding just outside the door, only their heads peeking in as they eavesdropped.
Hearing Bai Wanwan call Shi Xiangning foolish, Liu Hanzhi immediately burst into laughter. With a dramatic “Great Desolate Prison Finger” gesture, she pointed at Shi Xiangning and began to mock her.
🤣👉
Shi Xiangning’s face crumpled with dejection, her fair, delicate features sinking into a pout.
But who knew that Bai Wanwan would then add, “The other one isn’t far behind, so there’s no need to worry about me.”
👈🤣
Now, it was Shi Xiangning’s turn to mock Liu Hanzhi.
Yet, neither of them realized this was a lose-lose situation. Instead of refuting the claim, they were arguing endlessly over which of them was more foolish.
“Is that so?”
Chu Annian hesitated slightly. She had a persistent feeling that the two little female ghosts around Bai Wanwan weren’t actually foolish; they seemed to have intentionally stayed by her side.
Still, they certainly didn’t appear to pose any threat to Bai Wanwan… After all, there was a physique known as the ‘Ghost-Attracting Constitution,’ which made one particularly susceptible to being targeted by ghosts.
“Alright, continue your research on the Ghost Hand Golden Needle. I’ll have someone deliver the papercraft phone to you. And just so you know, besides a cash reward, the organization plans to give you another excellent item.”
“This is all to increase your chances of survival in your next anomalous domain. You are absolutely a treasure to the Special Incident Investigation Bureau now.”
“I’ll apply to my superiors to send it over to you along with the papercraft phone. It’s an anomalous item… called the Yin-Yang Quake.”
“As you know, anomalous items are tools that can be used in any anomalous domain, making them extremely valuable!”
