The Single Dog King

Chapter 522,169 words19 min read

A humorous glimpse into the Void’s nature.

**Single Dogs:** These denizens of the Void, perpetually starved of companionship, yearn for the affection of the opposite s*x found in nascent worlds. This profound longing led to their evolution, granting them a peculiar yet incredibly practical trait: an ‘unclean’ ability to infiltrate anything and everything.

Initially, the Single Dogs were scorned by other Void creatures. Their combat prowess rarely exceeded a paltry five, making them useful only for invasion. Yet, a pivotal and rare victory in the annals of Void history cemented their status as the absolute vanguard of any invasion force. Rumor even spoke of a Single Dog King—though none could confirm its existence.

A low hum resonated as Qiweiya materialized within the desolate expanse of the Void, her back a defiant shield before the world she swore to protect. World-shattering artillery fire ripped across the battlefield, illuminating the grotesque wreckage of myriad Void creatures and divine constructs that drifted aimlessly through the desolate space.

Qiweiya’s delicate nose wrinkled in distaste, struggling against the pervasive, putrid stench of the battlefield. The blood of Void creatures, she knew, carried a peculiar, decaying aroma, akin to the musty odor of mold.

“Boom—嗡——” A massive tremor rippled through the Void ahead, catching Qiweiya’s eye. “Frozen Judgment Scythe!” With a decisive motion, she retrieved her weapon from her intrinsic origin space.

“Hmph!” She plunged into the fray, her scythe a blur of motion, effortlessly reducing several Cthulhu-esque Void creatures to mere echoes of the past.

“Hart! Are you alright?” Hart Blazeflame shook his head, a dismissive gesture. “Sister, you should head to the front lines. Those Void creatures capable of nullifying world barriers have already thrown everything into disarray there… several generations of mortal gods have fallen!”

Qiweiya nodded firmly. “Then you must hold your ground! We’ll return to assist you once the front lines are secured.” Hart watched, a knot forming in his stomach, as Qiweiya vanished at light speed. ‘Shouldn’t she be helping me clear these out now? Why did she just leave alone!’

He tightened his grip on the Sunflame Greatsword, glaring at the surging tide of Void creatures. “Hah! Become the stepping stones upon which I grow stronger! Liu Jin Kela Wa Le!”

Qiweiya carved a path through the Void, each strike dispatching another creature, until she reached the true front line. What greeted her was a scene of utter devastation, a hellish tableau.

In the boundless Void, the phrase ‘mountains of corpses and rivers of blood’ felt inadequate. Yet, the mingled blood of gods and Void creatures swirled, suspended in the air. Qiweiya estimated she saw no fewer than eight hundred, perhaps even a thousand, fractured divine core fragments left behind by fallen deities.

One should never underestimate the prodigious combatant production of the nascent Higher Timelines; hundreds of new gods emerging every millennium was a common occurrence. Despite this formidable output, their struggle against the Void remained a precarious stalemate.

A luminous trail followed Qiweiya as she swept across the battlefield, her expression a mask of anxiety. She zipped past one god-level conflict after another, her worry mounting until, at last, she spotted Nagornes Darkness.

“Whoosh—” Nagornes Darkness stared in utter bewilderment as the Void squad, which had been engaged in a spirited battle with her just moments prior, disintegrated into dust before her eyes.

Qiweiya clasped Nagornes Darkness’s delicate shoulder. “Where are the others? No one was forced back to their origin, were they?” Nagornes Darkness glanced at Qiweiya with a peculiar expression. “Shouldn’t you, Big Sister, know that best? Of course not yet! They’re just the vanguard; it’s impossible for Origin Gods to truly perish!”

As Qiweiya’s anxiety deepened, Nagornes Darkness finally spoke with a touch of wicked amusement. “Oh, and your Valkyries are perfectly fine, of course. Though they were rather disgusted by those new Void soldier types.”

“Huh? Disgusted?” Qiweiya asked, utterly bewildered. “Absolutely!” Nagornes Darkness exclaimed. “Those particular soldiers are called Single Dogs! They resemble giant Shiba Inus, typically possessing the power of a High God.

Their nullification ability is truly repulsive, but what’s worse is how they cling to any female deity they spot, chanting things like, ‘Babe radar detected babe! Initiating **capture!’ They’re brimming with an unbearable energy! The more women fight them, the more excited they become. Meanwhile, the male gods are too preoccupied to offer assistance… so, hehehe.”

Qiweiya felt her very will to fight waver, threatened by this absurd new Void species! Only now did she grasp the truth: even the Void could produce such pathetic ‘single dogs’ who had evolved from prolonged celibacy.

‘Can’t they be serious? This is a battlefield, not a circus! Stop sending such ridiculous abominations!’ she fumed inwardly.

Qiweiya swiftly banished the fleeting distractions from her mind. “Very well, I’ll go provide backup then! Nagornes Darkness, ensure your safety!” “Yes, yes~ Bye-bye, Big Sister~”

The scythe retracted! Then flashed out again! On to the next location. Again, it was a swift retraction, then a lethal strike! More challenging foes were dispatched with a sweeping windmill attack. At last, Qiweiya spotted Lomance Light, Waity Life, and Eartha Earth.

“Yah! Behold my humorous descent from the heavens!” she cried. With a powerful downward cleave, her scythe—now completely enveloped in pure golden Judgment essence—slashed into the heart of the fray.

“嗡——Boom! Boom! Boom!” The Void itself buckled and collapsed, dimensions warping violently. Every Void creature caught in the blast was instantly reduced to a mere historical echo, a twisted, past image frozen in time.

As the dimensions snapped back into place, a vast expanse of the Void, easily the size of several continents, lay completely purged of enemies. Only Qiweiya and her allies remained.

“Hmph~” Qiweiya exhaled a long, steady breath, then rose to her feet. “Why don’t I see Kiana, Mei, or Bronya among them?”

Lomance Light wiped a bead of sweat from her brow. “They’re on the very front lines, in the region where those Single Dogs are most rampant!” Qiweiya’s eyes widened in alarm. “What! Have Kiana and the others been harassed mercilessly then?”

Lomance Light’s expression darkened. “What on earth are you imagining? This is a battlefield! There’s no ‘harassment’ here; getting caught means instant death! Do you truly believe they’d engage in leisurely flirtation with you?”

“Cough, cough,” Qiweiya cleared her throat, attempting to mask her embarrassment. “In that case, now that this area is clear, you all should head to the rear and help Hart Blazeflame clear the remaining forces! He’s likely at his limit by now, isn’t he?”

Waity Life spoke with a troubled sigh. “That boy has been far too impetuous ever since Veto Storm fell into slumber… Were it not for our status as Origin Gods, immune to such self-destruction, he would likely have already burst from his own rapidly expanding origin power!”

Qiweiya nodded. “It’s good that you understand. So many gods have perished this time… even with the constructs we created, the losses are heavy. I truly wonder if we can endure should the main Void forces finally arrive.”

Waity Life gently patted Qiweiya’s back in a comforting gesture. “It’s alright; we will absolutely overcome this trial! Big Sister, didn’t you specifically prepare a contingency for this very situation? We certainly don’t believe those Void creatures, who exist only to consume, will be the ones to survive.”

Qiweiya sighed. “I can only hope so! Now, I must go rescue Kiana and the others. Though I’ve endowed them with spacetime abilities and world-shattering forms, these are far from sustainable. I worry for their endurance.”

With that, she launched into a sprint, vanishing from sight. Qiweiya reappeared further ahead, where she found Kiana and her companions engaged in a desperate skirmish with those accursed Single Dogs. Their nullification ability was simply too repulsive to confront directly.

Qiweiya surged forward, appearing behind the massive Single Dog that confronted Kiana. With a swift scythe hook, she yanked the colossal beast closer. “Die, you pervert!” she snarled.

Yet, as the golden scythe-shadow struck, Qiweiya noticed her Judgment essence was subtly diluted, failing to completely obliterate the loathsome creature. “Another babe! This is truly bliss! Come, let’s share a hug! Muah~” The creature shamelessly lunged forward, prompting Qiweiya to deliver a furious front kick.

“Get lost, you pervert! Scram!” The Single Dog, propelled by her force, careened backward, bowling over countless of its kin. Qiweiya spotted another Single Dog charging from the opposite direction.

“What the hell! Still more? Why won’t you just die! Damn it all! Ora ora! Ada~” With a series of devastating, stylish side kicks, Qiweiya swept that particular monstrosity away in a single, fluid motion.

“Watch out, Lady Qiweiya!” Kiana’s tense warning came too late. Qiweiya found herself suddenly buried beneath a pile of newly materialized Single Dogs.

“Lady Qiweiya!” Kiana, Mei, and Bronya cried out in unison. “Hehehe hahaha! You damn perverts! You are the absolute worst things in my entire life! Not only did you attack my people, but now you dare to touch my body, a body I myself am reluctant to caress! You are truly courting death!”

A cacophony of “thump thump thump thump thump thump” echoed from within the three Single Dogs. The creatures howled in agony, “Ow ow ow,” struggling to retreat, yet utterly unable to escape.

“You dared to pin down my people, and now you’re my dogs! You think you can just run now? Do you take me for a charity organization, you bastards?! Leave your dog-lives behind!”

“Crack! Crack! Crack! Poof! Bang!” In an instant, Qiweiya pulverized the three Single Dogs from the inside out, reducing them to a grotesque mosaic. Not content with that, she then annihilated their very existence, scattering their dust and bones to the winds.

Covered in blood and grime, Qiweiya’s eyes glowed crimson as she cackled maniacally at the remaining Single Dogs. “Do you all still want to come at me?”

The Single Dogs howled with fanatical zeal. “Friends for life, we walk together! Whoever finds a partner first is a dog! Maiden, let us join you!”

Qiweiya’s face contorted into an incredulous expression. ‘What the hell!’ Every single one of them was charging at her!

Qiweiya once again summoned her intrinsic divine artifact. “Activate! It is time for these filthy creatures to witness the glory of the Sacred Martial Divine Bearing! Eternal Scythe!”

“Bang~” A sound like something shattering reverberated in everyone’s ears. Then…

The scythe became completely enveloped by a decree from the Creator God. The opposing Single Dogs were instantly frozen in their running poses, awestruck by this ‘king-turtle aura.’

As the decree dissipated, the scythe had utterly transformed. To describe it simply: it went from a clunky old brick phone to a sleek Nokia, or from a tacky rich man to a diamond bachelor. Such was the confidence instilled by the Creator God’s craftsmanship!

Elegant, platinum-golden patterns writhed across the scythe like living tendrils, and the blade itself had grown considerably larger.

“I told you! When I go crazy, even I fear myself, yet you still wouldn’t believe it! Now, regret it! Hmph~ You will all die by this one strike! Yah-ha—”

As Qiweiya brandished the scythe, it swelled to an impossible size! Eventually… it was large enough to burst an entire world! How was she even holding this thing?! It defied all logic!

With a single, sweeping motion, peace returned to the world! Everyone scattered, returning to their own homes and their mothers! “Alright, alright~ Show’s over! My three darlings~ Have you missed me since we last met? Come, come! Give me a kiss~”

“Go to hell, you scoundrel!” Kiana, Mei, and Bronya shouted in unison. Of course, Qiweiya easily evaded their attacks! She was refreshed and full of vigor after her battle!

“Hmph! How dare you openly flaunt your affection in broad daylight! You truly have no regard for us Single Dogs! You have so many, sharing a few with us wouldn’t be a problem!” Qiweiya glared irritably at Kiana and the others, who had dodged away while she was momentarily stunned.

“What the hell! Don’t you know that interrupting intimacy is akin to murder?! Who the heck are you?! I’ve never heard of you… What the hell, another Single Dog! And an evolved version?! How many more of you are there, damn it?! Just show me all of them at once so I can save the world from this suffering!”

This colossal, golden-glowing dog, with the character ‘King’ written on its forehead and ‘Single Dog’ emblazoned across its chest, puffed out its chest. “Indeed! I am the legendary Single Dog King! You’ve killed so many of my companions! Now, why don’t you obediently surrender and let us have some fun with you!”

Qiweiya’s veins throbbed. “Have fun?! And ‘obediently surrender’?! Why don’t you go get a ‘desperate for attention’ dog tag?! You dare to prance around before me, yapping like a dog! Truly, the world has fallen into moral decay! Taste my Six Roots of Purity Slash!”
