When Wolves Meet Their Alpha

Chapter 61,331 words12 min read

According to historical records, humans on ancient Earth originally had only two primary biological sexes: male and female.

Later, as climate and atmospheric conditions evolved, the natural environment changed.

To adapt, humanity gradually developed secondary sexes: Alpha, Beta, and Omega.

Interestingly, ever since the emergence of these three secondary sexes, some biologists have insisted on a theory completely opposite to the idea of “human evolution.”

They argue that the appearance of secondary sexes was not evolution at all, but a full-scale atavistic regression.

Because the classification of these three sexes originated from wolf packs in nature.

Alpha is the “lead wolf.”

The leader of the pack, typically strong-limbed, sharp-fanged, possessing absolute decision-making authority and leadership.

Beta is the “executor.”

The largest group within the pack, forming its main structure.

They migrate, hunt, and maintain daily operations according to the Alpha’s decisions.

Omega is the rare “breeder.”

Often played by female wolves.

Slender, agile, not required to participate in hunts yet guaranteed sufficient food, as they bear the crucial role of reproduction.

Both Alpha and Omega experience heat cycles.

Compelled by biological instinct into heightened arousal, they mate and reproduce, ensuring the continuation of superior genetic lines.

That is nature’s law.

In modern society, it is widely assumed that most Alphas naturally enjoy superior resources.

That this genetically superior group can create greater value under equal conditions.

In theory.

When only one Alpha exists within a given environment, that Alpha dominates.

But there are always exceptions.

When two or more Alphas share the same space, superiority and hierarchy inevitably emerge among them.

Wu Qie had reviewed Zhao Shu’s medical report.

Mental strength: S-tier.

Physical capability: S-tier.

A top-tier Alpha without question.

He had only just come of age, yet merely sitting there was enough to drive idle teachers from the office one by one under flimsy excuses.

Soon, only Wu Qie and Zhao Shu remained.

Zhao Shu was fiddling with his phone, instructing his lackeys to check on Lin Zuwen’s condition.

Half an hour later, when the impeccably dressed head of the Zhao family stepped into the office, Wu Qie immediately felt the shift in atmosphere.

The tall, sharp-featured man didn’t release a single trace of pheromones, yet his presence alone was oppressive.

His deep-set eyes, the coolness in his expression, and the crisp tap of leather shoes against tile blended into something quietly intimidating.

He did not speak at once.

He simply let his gaze sweep across the room.

Across from him, the once-arrogant wolf cub visibly deflated.

Tail metaphorically tucked.

“Ge.”

Zhao Shu remained seated.

Not springing to his feet was the last shred of dignity he clung to.

Zhao Guipu ignored him entirely.

He walked straight to Wu Qie, who stood nearby with arms folded.

He lowered his head slightly.

“Let me see your hand again.”

His voice was exactly as it had been on the phone.

Warm.

As he drew near, Wu Qie caught a faint scent of blood.

He blinked.

Before he could pinpoint it, his wrist was already in the man’s grasp.

The blood scent vanished.

The hand holding his wrist was warm.

Dry.

Perhaps he had imagined it.

Zhao Guipu’s movement was natural.

Like an elder lifting a younger person who had just stumbled.

“It’s really swollen.”

He sounded concerned.

“If you’re that worried, take him to the hospital for an X-ray.”

Zhao Shu’s voice dripped with sarcasm from the side.

“Check if the bone’s broken.”

No one responded to him.

Too many strange things had already happened today.

There was no point tallying them.

None of them made sense.

Zhao Shu watched as his dear brother gently released the Beta’s hand and advised him seriously to seek medical examination.

His brows furrowed in genuine concern.

A benevolent figure unwilling to see innocent passersby harmed.

So what about the man who had swung a golf club without hesitation?

Who was that?

Had Zhao Guipu suddenly converted to compassion without notifying his beloved brother?

What a joke.

Perhaps Zhao Shu’s stare was too intense.

At last, Zhao Guipu turned.

His gaze traveled over his younger brother.

“Apologize to A Qie.”

“What?” Zhao Shu reacted immediately. “No.”

“You don’t raise your hand against your own people.”

“Apologize.”

“Don’t make me repeat myself.”

Zhao Shu expected Wu Qie to step in with that soft, placating voice.

“It’s fine.”

“He didn’t mean it.”

He waited.

Nothing came.

The black-haired Beta said nothing.

Instead, he leaned slightly from behind Zhao Guipu and looked at Zhao Shu.

Those glossy dark eyes seemed to ask, What are you waiting for?

Zhao Shu: “……”

Wu Qie: “You don’t want to apologize?”

Zhao Guipu shifted slightly.

Zhao Shu noticed his brother’s eyes scanning the room.

Settling briefly on a solid, rod-shaped object nearby.

“Sorry.”

What goes around comes around.

After years as a troublemaking tyrant, Zhao Shu finally experienced a real parent call after adulthood.

It didn’t take long before his circle knew.

They mocked him relentlessly.

That night, under the pretense of “cheering him up,” they dragged him out.

In truth, they wanted front-row seats to his humiliation.

They had grown up together in the same villa district.

Most of them Alpha.

Lin Zuwen had been the last yet to differentiate.

Tonight’s host was Zhang Gengxin.

His family owned the best nightclubs in Jiangcheng.

Zhang Gengxin, twenty-two, once a notorious playboy, had recently settled down.

He’d snatched a new Omega lover from someone else.

High pheromone compatibility.

Since then, no other bodies on his lap.

Using Zhao Shu’s “misfortune” as an excuse, Zhang had booked his lover’s band to perform privately.

The Omega drummer sat on Zhang’s lap, arms around his neck.

He laughed brightly as the others animatedly described Zhao Shu being scolded.

“So what about that geography teacher?”

Zhang asked.

“Want me to handle him?”

Zhao Shu swirled amber liquor in his glass.

Without warning, the image surfaced.

Wu Qie beneath fluorescent lights.

Exposed nape.

Red pen in hand.

Serious.

“….”

“Go ahead.”

Zhang perked up.

Then Zhao Shu added coolly,

“Someone who can summon my brother from the company with one phone call. Use your little tricks on him. Be bold.”

The words my brother carried weight.

Zhang immediately deflated.

The door opened.

Pei Qingyu entered quietly and sat down without greeting anyone.

Zhao Shu shot him a look.

This childhood friend had witnessed the entire school chaos.

Yet he had not lifted a finger to help.

“Say something.”

Zhao Shu kicked him lightly.

“What?” Pei Qingyu asked flatly.

“Where were you this afternoon?”

“Watching you wreak havoc.”

“Lin Zuwen’s still in the hospital. The hallway smells like you. The sanitation department sealed it for disinfection. I spent half an hour stamping Omega leave slips.”

“You think that’s why I’m late?”

Zhao Shu rolled his eyes.

Zhang sighed dramatically.

“Poor A Shu.”

“So what’s the background of this new teacher? If he can command Brother Guipu, maybe he’s—”

Zhao Guipu was over thirty and still single.

In a declining fertility era, that bordered on criminal.

But Zhao Shu could not say the truth.

That the fiancé was arranged for him.

He muttered instead,

“He’s a man. A Beta.”

Zhang snorted.

“Of course. A Beta.”

“Meaning?”

“Betas are like that. Rule-following. Boring. Harmless-looking. They win trust from those in power.”

He kept going.

Under dim lights, he failed to notice his Omega lover’s expression darkening.

“Average-looking too—”

“Shut up!”

The Omega shoved him violently.

“Don’t you dare talk about A Qie like that!”

He kicked Zhang and stormed out.

Silence filled the room.

Someone asked weakly, “Who was he talking about?”

Zhang’s face was livid.

“My ex.”

“Just a Beta.”

In the corner, Zhao Shu let out a sharp laugh.

The world was upside down.

Betas were suddenly stepping all over Alpha territory.

Riding on their heads.

How amusing.
