Chapter 237: A Fierce Wife

Chapter 571,365 words12 min read

He felt as though he were dreaming, his consciousness trapped inside a bottle.

A glass barrier stood before him. No matter how he shouted or pounded against it, the other side seemed utterly unaware of his existence.

He saw the moments after he had fainted. Yue Ye Si effortlessly tore away the red ribbon that had bound him—an Emperor-rank magical artifact. She was like a demon, her claws piercing his heart…

‘Am I dead? Is this the final vision before my end?’

‘Then where am I now?’ Tou frantically looked around, only to find himself in a world of absolute white. The scene of his own death was playing out on what looked like a glowing silver screen.

‘Is this the afterlife? It hurts so much… Why would Master kill me?’

‘What did I do wrong? Was I raised by them just so they could devour me in the end?’

“Not quite!”

“Who’s there!”

The sudden voice startled Tou, making him jump in fright.

He scanned his surroundings but saw no one. Just as he began to wonder if he had imagined it, the bell-like, melodious voice rang out again.

“You dummy! I’m up here!”

‘Why does that cheeky tone sound so much like me?’ He lifted his head and, sure enough, saw a lovely little boy with long, golden hair and a soft, pink face, as cute as a little white rabbit.

‘That’s right! It’s me!’

The voice and face were identical to his own. Staring up, Tou might have thought he was looking into a mirror, if not for the fact that the figure’s hair was hanging upside down.

But there was another difference between the inverted Tou and himself: the expression. The face above was a blank mask, devoid of any emotion.

“You’re not dead, and Yue Ye Si didn’t kill you! Also, Onii-chan, if you keep wearing girls’ clothes, you’re really going to turn into a girl! And if you become a girl, control of this body will be mine! It’s so comfortable lazing around in here by myself; I have no desire to go out!”

‘Onii-chan?’ Tou recalled from those yellow-covered books he’d read that it meant ‘older brother’.

‘Is this my younger brother?’ No, that wasn’t right. Tou looked more closely. The other’s face was rounder than his, with a touch of baby fat.

And the slight curve of their chest, however small, was something Tou certainly didn’t possess.

‘A younger sister? Nani?’ Tou’s confusion only deepened.

“You still don’t seem to grasp the situation! I’ll make it quick. I pulled you in here while you were unconscious for a very simple reason: to warn you! No more girls’ clothes! Got it, you idiot!”

Tou bristled at her words. What did she mean, no more girls’ clothes? If he had his own to wear, he wouldn’t be in this situation!

And this little brat! She was his sister, yet she showed him no respect! How infuriating!

“You little wench! Get down here! Is that any way to talk to your big brother? You’re asking for a spanking! Get down here right now!”

“‘Younger sister?’ It seems you’ve forgotten me completely!”

The girl above remained expressionless, but her voice was as piercing as a blaring horn. With a flip, she spun through the air in several three-hundred-and-sixty-degree turns before kicking Tou squarely in the stomach.

“Owww!”

Tou’s face contorted into a mask of agony. The pain was so real, it felt as though he were still alive.

“You listen to me, Tou! My name is Chong! I’m your wife!”

Her voice, sharp as a shockwave, stabbed into his eardrums, making the whole situation feel surreal.

‘Wife?’ He had no memory of her at all. But she was quite cute; it was no surprise for a girl who looked ninety-nine percent like him.

“Hmph! And some more advice: stop flirting with other women out there, especially your masters. I never should have entrusted you to them in the first place!”

‘Oh? The little girl is showing some emotion.’ Her fiercely adorable pout was actually quite charming. ‘I must look just as cute when I’m like that.’

Without realizing it, Tou had started to see her as a mirror.

“I know, I know! With such a cute wife, I don’t even want to leave this place! Hehe!”

“You bastard! Don’t you dare pinch my cheek!”

Another slap. Tou’s hand was knocked away, already swelling! His expression began to twist. Damn it! Even he had a temper! So what if she was his wife? If she wouldn’t listen, she’d get a beating!

“You call yourself my wife but won’t let me touch you! I think you… ah!”

Before Tou could finish, he rolled up his sleeves and took two steps toward Chong, only to be sent flying by a resounding smack.

He couldn’t get up. Chong’s small foot pressed down hard on his chest, making him wonder if her weight was measured in tons. The pressure was so immense he could barely breathe.

Chong offered him no kindness, staring down at him as if he were trash.

“Don’t make me repeat myself. When you get out, if you dare disobey my orders, I’ll drag you back in here any time for a good thrashing! Now, get lost!”

Then, with a vicious look, Chong kicked toward his crotch.

“AHHH!”

Tou shot upright, instinctively clutching his manhood. With Chong’s strength, a kick like that would have sent him ascending to the heavens from pain alone.

But… he was fine. What was more confusing was that he was back in reality. Around him were the maid Ji Jie, the Monkey King, and several other unfamiliar faces.

“What just happened?”

Tou felt his chest. It was perfectly intact, no sign of his heart having been ripped out. He checked his midsection; there was no trace of Chong’s foot either.

‘Was it all a dream? But the pain felt so real!’ His ‘wife,’ that little brat who looked so much like him… what was she? And where was that place he had just been?

“Aaargh!”

Tou clutched his aching head. Thinking about it was too overwhelming. He gave his head a little shake, deciding not to dwell on it.

But his cry had drawn everyone’s attention.

“You’re awake! Are you the one who lured the demoness here?! Tell me now, what is your connection to her!”

It was another fierce woman. ‘Flat-chested… tsk!’

She had black hair and green eyes, with two small, round black buns on either side of her head, like a panda’s ears. Her slightly plump, melon-seed-shaped face held large, autumn-clear eyes, and her delicate features gave her a flawless, jade-like aura.

Strangely, two small dragon horns protruded from her forehead.

Her voice rang out like a dragon’s roar, and she had a peculiar habit of heavily emphasizing the last syllable of her sentences, which was rather grating.

“Pri… Princess! She’s just an injured person. Sh-she couldn’t possibly be connected to the demoness.”

A petite, lavender-haired girl with two very large pigtails stepped in front of Tou to shield him.

Her voice was tiny, as if squeezed from her throat. She flapped her arms as she spoke, looking endearingly clumsy.

“Princess! Princess! She’s only in the Spiritual Vein Realm. Even if she were connected to the demoness, she wouldn’t be of much use to us! And… and she’s so cute…”

“It’s because she’s cute that she’s suspicious! Don’t you know those demonesses are all perverts! This one is so adorable, could she be one of the demoness’s toys?”

‘Is it a crime to be cute now?’ Apparently, it was. It seemed he had been targeted again. Still, at least they were two beauties.

“Hmph!”

A heavy snort suddenly echoed in his mind. Tou instantly shot straight up, a cold chill running down his spine, as if Chong’s kick were about to land for real.

He understood then. It hadn’t been a dream. Chong was real, and if he didn’t do as she said, his little brother would be the one to suffer next time they met.
