With Ye Jue firmly holding the boss’s aggro, Lin Shenyue began her steady stream of healing. Although the second boss proved far more formidable than the first, its reliance on melee attacks ironically played into Ye Jue’s strengths, allowing him to achieve an impressively high dodge rate.
Having spent years as a high-level player, Ye Jue’s reflexes and sharp eyesight remained undiminished, even if his raw speed wasn’t what it once was. Naturally, a beginner-level boss wouldn’t be designed to be insurmountable, lest no one could ever clear it.
Observing Ye Jue effortlessly tanking the boss, Lin Shenyue found her thoughts drifting to other matters.
As Lin Shenyue unconsciously pondered while mechanically casting healing spells, Docamir unleashed another burst of power.
Docamir abruptly vanished from his spot, only to reappear before the throne where he had initially been situated. With a cold declaration, he plunged his sword into the ground. “Witness the power of darkness, mortals. Undead Shock!”
Ye Jue’s voice turned grave. “Yue’er, pay close attention. Keep everyone’s health bars stable.” He knew this would place immense pressure on Lin Shenyue, but there was no alternative. The Undead Shock was too dense; it wasn’t a skill one could simply evade.
A phalanx of spectral knights surged forth from before the boss, charging directly towards Lin Shenyue and her companions.
Lin Shenyue’s brow furrowed slightly at the sight of the densely packed ghostly formation. Her mind instantly began calculating at an terrifying speed.
Faced with the boss’s area-of-effect attack, everyone abandoned all reservations, unleashing their full power and striving to dodge with all their might. This moment truly highlighted individual skill.
Ye Jue, at the forefront, had the shortest reaction time, yet he only sustained two hits, losing approximately 200 health. Fissure and Empty Night were positioned in the middle of the party.
Empty Night, relying on his personal skill and a rogue’s inherent high agility, also only took two hits, though he nearly perished. Fortunately, Lin Shenyue’s timely healing spell between the two strikes pulled him back from the brink.
Fissure, however, suffered a staggering five hits. Had it not been for Lin Shenyue’s potent healing, he would have undoubtedly fallen much earlier. Divine Wind, positioned in the third tier of the party, benefited from an archer’s naturally high agility.
Moreover, an archer’s primary skill, ‘Roll,’ could be used to evade certain non-targeted abilities. As a result, Divine Wind only took a single hit. Should he take another, Lin Shenyue would have no further skills to assist him.
Concern for Lin Shenyue’s safety began to ripple through the group. With her only two healing spells already expended on others, she had nothing left to heal herself.
If she were to take two or more attacks, she would be instantly annihilated. Without Lin Shenyue, they knew they wouldn’t last long, even with the aid of potions.
Empty Night, Divine Wind, and Fissure all frowned. At such a critical juncture, while others might fall, the healer absolutely could not. This was especially true given Lin Shenyue’s less-than-stellar reaction time and a priest’s inherently slow movement speed. They simply couldn’t fathom how she would survive.
To the stunned gazes of her teammates, Lin Shenyue pressed her lips together. In that instant, she had calculated a safe route, making precise pre-judgments.
She wove through the ranks of the spectral knights, a phantom among phantoms, emerging from the onslaught without a single ghost touching her.
Empty Night, Divine Wind, and Fissure all let out expletives in unison, and Ye Jue’s mouth twitched fiercely. While he knew Lin Shenyue wouldn’t die, he hadn’t anticipated such an extraordinary display, that she would avoid every single attack.
It was crucial to remember that the ghost charge was irregular, with varying speeds. Yet, Lin Shenyue, armed with her terrifying computational ability, not only successfully dodged every blow but also found time to anticipate the danger to Empty Night and Fissure, healing them proactively. Her calculation ability was truly inhuman.
Lin Shenyue’s face was a little pale. The intense calculations she had performed in that fleeting moment had significantly drained her mental energy, likely causing a temporary dip in her overall performance.
Ye Jue and the others swiftly redirected their gazes from Lin Shenyue back to the boss. Despite their profound shock, this was not the time to be awestruck.
After unleashing its skill, the boss seemed to enter a period of weakness. Even after Lin Shenyue’s group collectively chipped away 30% of its health, it failed to launch another attack.
The boss continued its unremarkable assault for a full ten minutes before finally erupting once more, precisely when its health dropped to 50%.
“Mortals, it seems you possess a modicum of strength after all. It appears I must summon my pet. Come forth, my most loyal servant!” the boss roared, as a massive summoning circle materialized on the ground, simultaneously repelling the three individuals surrounding him.
Ye Jue’s expression darkened slightly. “This is a forced summon; it cannot be interrupted.”
A warhorse, entirely black and draped in dark battle armor, leaped forth from the magic circle. Only the cold glint in its eyes betrayed that it was no ordinary pet.
Docamir stroked the warhorse’s neck before leaping onto its back. “Mortals, witness the true power of one-thousandth of this captain’s strength! Though still a touch weak, it is more than enough for mere ants such as yourselves.”
Lin Shenyue’s mouth twitched violently at Docamir’s words. Such an arrogant boss made her wonder which eccentric designer at Divine Realm Company had created him.
At that very moment, a certain designer in the Divine Realm Company headquarters sneezed violently. He rubbed his nose. “I wonder which beauty is thinking of me, hehe…” After a lecherous chuckle, his brow furrowed as he stared intently at the screen before him. “Is this girl the CEO’s daughter? How exactly did she manage to avoid that skill?”
Lin Shenyue watched, speechless, as Docamir transformed from a warrior into a knight, his sword now morphing into a long spear with a flick of his wrist. What was with such a bizarre weapon-changing mechanic?
Ye Jue frowned. “Be careful. In this form, the boss’s movement speed is incredibly fast, making evasion difficult, and its attack power is significantly higher.”
Lin Shenyue quickly checked Docamir’s status: [Dark Knight Docamir (BOSS): Level 8. HP: 7486/15000. Physical Attack: 300-400. (Docamir’s second form, having entered his preferred combat mode.)]
Docamir tightened the reins, his voice chilling. “Now, despair in agony, mortals!”
Ye Jue’s expression shifted. Docamir charged at him with astonishing speed. Ye Jue barely managed to sidestep, bringing his shield up in front of him. Even so, the boss’s spear thrust sent him sliding back a full three meters, a large ‘-320’ appearing above his head. He instantly lost two-thirds of his health.
Lin Shenyue’s expression tightened, and she immediately cast a healing spell, instantly restoring Ye Jue’s health.
However, the moment the horse halted, Docamir wheeled it around, charging once more towards the recently recovered Ye Jue. A flash of annoyance crossed Ye Jue’s face. His eyes narrowed, and with an extreme sidestep, he delivered a forceful blow to the horse’s head.
While Ye Jue’s strength was low compared to the boss, even a slight force could unseat a rider on a rapidly charging horse. Thus, Docamir gloriously tumbled from his mount. Though he took no damage, it was an absolute humiliation for him.
Docamir rose, his voice frigid. “I didn’t expect to find such capable individuals among you humans. It seems I underestimated you.” He effortlessly vaulted back onto his warhorse, pointing his spear level at Ye Jue. “I will make you understand that mortals cannot challenge the authority of gods.”
All five of Lin Shenyue’s party members tensed. They understood that Docamir was likely preparing to unleash another skill; Ye Jue’s actions had thoroughly enraged the boss.
The boss raised his spear, resuming his assault.
