The awakening of Bai Lan’s Chaos Body also granted her several unique powers, innate abilities accompanying her new form.
Her first ability, Indestructible Soul, meant that upon acquiring the Chaos Body, her soul transformed into a Chaos Spirit, transcending the Six Paths of Reincarnation.
Unaffected by any power within the Six Paths, this implied that no force in this world could truly extinguish Bai Lan entirely.
Next was the power of Yin. When in her Chaos Yin Spirit state, regardless of the spell attribute she employed, all her spells would manifest with a chilling Yin quality. For instance, fire-attributed power unleashed from Bai Lan’s hand would transform into Yin Fire, Yin Lightning, and so forth; any power with a predominantly Yang attribute would become Yin-aligned.
This was because her current form, being an embodiment of Yin power, naturally could not accommodate even a trace of Yang energy.
As for her other abilities, they were numerous and awaited Bai Lan’s gradual exploration and development.
After adjusting her state, she stepped out of her room, then approached Xue Linglong’s dwelling and called out.
“Linglong, let’s go. We’re heading to Hundred Flowers Terrace,” Bai Lan called out.
Hearing her words, Xue Linglong promptly emerged from her room. She paused, momentarily stunned, when she saw Bai Lan’s appearance had returned to normal, for at that very instant, a faint golden stream of light emanated from her eyes.
As this golden light surfaced, she perceived Bai Lan through her eyes, and she had reverted to her earlier appearance of white hair and blue pupils.
Moreover, she noticed the Profound Yin Necklace around Bai Lan’s neck radiating a purple glow. It was peculiar; she had no idea why she could see these things, feeling as though Bai Lan was cloaked in a layer of skin.
“This little girl’s Linglong Body has awakened too. She’s seen through your disguise,” Yun Yao remarked, having sensed Xue Linglong’s power fluctuations.
Bai Lan froze. She felt certain other events must have transpired last night. Her Chaos Body had awakened, and now Xue Linglong’s Linglong Body had too—it was far too coincidental.
“Yun Yao, what special abilities does the Linglong Body possess?” Bai Lan inquired.
“The Heart’s Eye,” Yun Yao explained, “is the Linglong Body’s most formidable skill. It allows her to perceive all illusions in the world, meaning techniques like phantasmagoria are useless against her. Furthermore, she can discern a person’s thoughts, possess X-ray vision, and see things ordinary people cannot. Therefore, when you converse with her from now on, there’s no need to hide anything.”
Hearing this, Bai Lan felt an even deeper sense of displeasure. Why were other body abilities so formidable, while her own Divine Body possessed such a negative ability as gender transformation, lacking any other useful powers? At least, that’s how it seemed to Bai Lan at the moment.
“Of course, rest assured,” Yun Yao added reassuringly, “as long as you don’t speak carelessly, the Chaos Body’s power can block her mind-reading.”
Bai Lan finally breathed a sigh of relief. If Xue Linglong could discern her thoughts even without her speaking, that would be truly excessive. Would she even have any secrets left then?
“Linglong, what are you spacing out for? Hurry over! If we miss the time, we’ll be in trouble,” Bai Lan called out.
“Ah? Oh.” Xue Linglong blinked, then quickly scurried over, ultimately following Bai Lan as they strolled towards the area where Hundred Flowers Terrace was located.
Hundred Flowers Terrace served as the gathering point for outer sect disciples, specifically designated for their assemblies.
Currently, many outer sect disciples were heading towards Hundred Flowers Terrace. It was unclear if fate simply brought them together, but just as Bai Lan and Xue Linglong arrived within fifty meters of the terrace, they unluckily encountered the Seventh Princess of Chen Kingdom.
This Seventh Princess, named Chen Xuan, along with several of her guards, coincidentally crossed paths with Bai Lan and Xue Linglong at an intersection. Ordinarily, if Bai Lan wished to avoid trouble, she would have simply led Xue Linglong away.
Unfortunately, she was currently quite enraged, a fire burning within her that demanded an outlet.
“Hmm…? It’s the two of you. I didn’t expect you both to become outer sect disciples. What a small world,” Chen Xuan said with a slight smile.
Xue Linglong glanced at the woman, and immediately, strange voices echoed in her ears. These sounds seemed to emanate directly from Chen Xuan’s inner thoughts.
Hmph! It’s these two commoners again. They made me look so bad yesterday. I thought there was no way they’d pass, but this works out too. I’ll have something to do in the outer sect these next few years. Those who offend this princess never come to a good end…
Upon hearing the woman’s inner thoughts, Xue Linglong inexplicably leaned closer to Bai Lan. Honestly, she felt a little scared at that moment. She didn’t understand what was happening to her, how she could suddenly see so many strange things and hear odd voices overnight.
“Oh, it’s Princess Highness again. If there’s nothing else, we’ll be going,” Bai Lan stated, unwilling to engage with her, and prepared to lead Xue Linglong past.
However, Chen Xuan’s guards immediately blocked their path, preventing them from leaving. The surrounding disciples who were passing by quickly moved away from the area, observing from a distance.
“What’s going on? It’s only the first day of the sermon; surely nothing major is about to happen, right?” some uninformed disciples whispered amongst themselves.
Bai Lan cast a sharp glance at the individuals blocking her path, then took a deep breath.
“Princess Highness, we have no desire to offend you, but please do not push your luck,” Bai Lan threatened, her gaze fixed directly on Chen Xuan. “Otherwise, never mind being a princess; even if you have powerful backing in the Luoshen Sect, I will make you regret provoking me. Do you believe me?”
“You… you’re seeking death!” Chen Xuan retorted, her face contorted in a furious rage as she raised her hand, poised to strike.
Yet, at that precise moment, Xue Linglong suddenly spoke a single sentence, directed behind Chen Xuan.
“Greetings, Inner Sect Senior Sister.”
The suddenness of it all caught Chen Xuan and her guards off guard. Instinctively, they halted their actions and looked behind them, only to find no one there.
By the time they realized what had happened, Bai Lan and Xue Linglong had vanished.
Chen Xuan’s expression stiffened as she realized she had been tricked. Her eyes darted around, searching for Bai Lan and Xue Linglong’s figures. Only then did she discover that the two had already fled far away. They couldn’t possibly pursue them to Hundred Flowers Terrace to start a fight, especially since a Luoshen Sect elder was scheduled to lecture on the Hundred Flowers Technique that day.
“Damn it, those two commoners! How dare they trick this princess? You’re finished!” Bai Lan and Xue Linglong had truly infuriated Chen Xuan this time.
Meanwhile, Bai Lan and Xue Linglong had already entered Hundred Flowers Terrace.
“Phew, you scared me, Sister. We almost got into serious trouble,” Xue Linglong said, her voice laced with worry.
“Don’t be afraid of her. Once we cultivate and grow stronger, if she dares to provoke us again, we’ll beat her up,” Bai Lan declared.
It was fortunate that Xue Linglong had been so quick-witted just now, otherwise, she wouldn’t have escaped that slap. She currently lacked power, whereas Chen Xuan was clearly already a cultivator.
“Mm.” Xue Linglong nodded earnestly, then found an unoccupied meditation cushion with Bai Lan and sat down, awaiting the arrival of the teaching elder.
As for Chen Xuan and her group, they also arrived but did not cause any trouble. Instead, they walked to the very front, drove away a few female disciples, and then settled down themselves.
The displaced female disciples seethed with unspoken anger. There was nothing they could do; they were simply too weak at the moment.
“Eh? You two young sisters, it’s you!” Not long after Bai Lan and Xue Linglong had settled down, a faintly familiar voice reached their ears.
Bai Lan and Xue Linglong looked up to see the young girl who Chen Xuan had almost crippled the day before.
