Rushing to the scene, Qingxuan arrived just in time to witness his wife being engulfed by countless sword qi. She dissolved into a mist of blood, vanishing into the sky.
“No, my wife!” Qingxuan’s pupils contracted sharply.
This turn of events was entirely beyond his wildest imaginings. The Vice Palace Master of the Azure Dragon Palace, a great demon at the peak of the Nascent Soul realm, was actually dead?
Sensing the disappearance of Bai Su’s aura, the other Azure Dragon Palace experts, who had been locked in combat, immediately ceased their attacks. They swiftly rushed towards Qingxuan’s location.
“Bai Su’s aura is gone? No way! Did Senior Sister use a killing blow? That was the power fluctuation of Nine Heavens Embracing Moon just now, wasn’t it? How did Senior Sister even use that move? It’s a divine ability!” Chen Xiangning and the others wore grim expressions.
Within their Luoshen Sect, aside from Luo Yan, Bai Yiren possessed the strongest combat prowess. They were intimately aware of her formidable strength.
Even against a Purple Mansion realm cultivator, Bai Yiren could hold her own in a true battle.
Meanwhile, Bai Lan had successfully rescued many outer sect disciples. They had now returned to the location of the Sea Abyss Worm King, a scene of utter carnage, where the ground was littered with the corpses of Luoshen Sect’s inner sect disciples.
The Golden Core initial stage woman was still struggling tenaciously against the Sea Abyss Worm King, but it was evident she was nearing her breaking point.
Xue Linglong, unable to bear the sight, spoke up.
“Senior Sister, this worm’s weakness is its mouth. Attack its mouth!” Without hesitation, Xue Linglong revealed the Sea Abyss Worm King’s vulnerability to the remaining Luoshen Sect inner sect disciples.
Both sides, locked in fierce combat, reacted with varied expressions to her voice. The Luoshen Sect disciples glanced at Xue Linglong in the distance, perplexed as to how she knew the Sea Abyss Worm’s weakness.
However, the Sea Abyss Worm King’s expression turned ugly. He knew perfectly well where his weakness lay; all demonic beasts had vulnerabilities, but humans were never supposed to discover them.
“Impossible! How does this little girl know my weakness? No, the weakness of my Sea Abyss Worm clan cannot be known by humans!” Enraged by the revelation, the Sea Abyss Worm King violently shoved aside the entangled Luoshen Sect disciples and surged towards Xue Linglong and Bai Lan’s position.
“You beast, what are you doing?” The Luoshen Sect disciples, noticing the Sea Abyss Worm King’s movement, immediately shouted, attempting to prevent it from reaching Xue Linglong and the others.
Bai Lan watched the Sea Abyss Worm King charging towards the three of them, her expression utterly stiff. She knew, without a doubt, that Xue Linglong’s words had provoked the beast.
“I say, Linglong, are you foolish?” Bai Lan chided Xue Linglong, rubbing her temples in exasperation. “A demonic beast’s weakness is their fatal flaw, known only to themselves. For you, a human, to discover it and then announce it to the Sea Abyss Worm King—he’s surely going to kill you!”
She then grabbed Xue Linglong and fled. Xue Linglong, hearing her words, was stunned for a moment before silently cursing herself for her foolishness. However, she couldn’t entirely be blamed; her knowledge of demonic beasts was limited, and who would have thought they were so sensitive about their weaknesses?
“Yes, I’m sorry, I was wrong,” Xue Linglong apologized directly.
But what good was an apology at this moment? Survival was the immediate concern, and Bai Lan had no time to scold her. How could they possibly escape? Their pursuer was a peak Golden Core demonic beast. They hadn’t even taken a few steps when the Sea Abyss Worm opened its monstrous maw and lunged, aiming to devour Bai Lan and Xue Linglong.
“Outsiders who know my clan’s weakness must die,” the Sea Abyss Worm King hissed chillingly.
Bai Lan and Xue Linglong felt a cold, foul stench behind them, their faces paling in terror. Bai Lan risked a glance backward, only to see the Sea Abyss Worm King’s gaping, blood-red maw.
Holy hell, no way! Am I about to be eaten? Bai Lan inwardly questioned, utterly dismayed.
But just then, a familiar voice echoed in Bai Lan’s ears.
“Flowing Light’s Return, Swords Transform into Ten Thousand.”
As the voice faded, streaks of frigid sword light descended from the heavens, piercing towards the Sea Abyss Worm King.
“No good!” The Sea Abyss Worm King, sensing the immense power fluctuations overhead, was forced to abandon its pursuit of Bai Lan and Xue Linglong. It channeled its full strength to resist the descending sword light.
The sword light rained down like a torrent, overwhelming the Sea Abyss Worm King, which could only barely defend itself. Innumerable wounds appeared all over its body in an instant, and blue blood gushed forth.
That single strike was enough to gravely injure it.
After the attack ceased, a figure descended from the sky, landing beside Bai Lan and Xue Linglong. It was, of course, Bai Yiren.
“Master?” Bai Lan recognized the figure from their back instantly.
Xue Linglong had calmed down once help arrived. Hearing Bai Lan address the newcomer as ‘Master,’ she cast a bewildered glance at her.
Bai Yiren merely spared Bai Lan a fleeting glance, saying nothing, but giving her a knowing look.
As for the Sea Abyss Worm King, once the dust settled, a large crater remained on the ground. The beast itself was gone, having undoubtedly fled during the attack.
“Escaped? Hmph! There won’t be such a good opportunity next time,” Bai Yiren murmured.
After speaking, she didn’t linger to say more to Bai Lan, instead soaring back into the sky and departing. Yet, for some reason, her last remark felt as though it had been directed at Bai Lan.
Only after Bai Yiren left did Xue Linglong ask, her voice laced with curiosity.
“Big Sister, is that senior your Master?”
Bai Lan nodded, but then she abruptly turned, reaching out to pinch the soft flesh of Xue Linglong’s cheek.
“I told you not to be so reckless, yet you never listen!” Bai Lan lectured, her expression a mixture of anger and disappointment. “Do you realize how dangerous that was just now? If my Master hadn’t arrived, you and I would have met our end inside that demonic beast’s belly!”
“Ow, ow, it hurts! I, I was wrong! I promise I’ll never say such things in front of a demonic beast again!” Xue Linglong cried out in pain, simultaneously begging for mercy.
Upon seeing Xue Linglong’s delicate, pained expression, Bai Lan immediately realized she had gone too far. Why had she suddenly acted like that? She quickly released her, turned away, and cleared her throat a few times, a faint blush creeping onto her face.
“Cough, cough, it’s good that you know you were wrong,” Bai Lan said, rubbing her head with a slight headache. “Just don’t do it again.”
Xue Linglong, meanwhile, rubbed her cheek with a wronged expression, then gazed strangely at Bai Lan’s retreating back. Golden light flickered in her eyes, her thoughts unknown.
At the same moment, a monstrous demonic aura erupted from the west, sweeping across the entire Eternal Blossom Island with immense pressure. It appeared Qingxuan was about to unleash his fury.
“Luo Yan, for the murder of my wife, I swear I will reduce your Luoshen Sect to ashes!” Qingxuan roared at Luo Yan.
His wife had been slain, and he knew she had been carrying his child—a tragedy of two lives lost with one body. How could he not be consumed by rage?
All the Luoshen Sect’s powerhouses had now gathered around Luo Yan. Naturally, the demonic experts from the sea had also ceased their fighting and converged around Qingxuan.
They had all transformed into human forms, a feat possible for those who reached the Golden Core realm. Qingxuan’s human appearance was that of a majestic man clad in azure armor.
Combined, the Nascent Soul cultivators from both sides numbered nearly thirty.
“What are you shouting about?” Luo Yan sneered coldly. “You brought this upon yourself! You brazenly attacked our Luoshen Sect and slaughtered so many of our disciples. How is it that you’re allowed to kill our people, but we’re forbidden from killing yours?”
Just then, Bai Yiren also arrived.
