Confessed to? Love at First Sight?

Chapter 108 • 1,338 words • 12 min read

The prices in the Void Heaven Realm were inherently high.

Given Bai Lan’s current financial standing, she couldn’t really afford many items.

At most, she managed to buy about ten bottles of Qi Recovery Pills.

These Qi Recovery Pills were the most common elixir for cultivators in the Qi Refining realm to restore their strength.

They could instantly recover roughly thirty percent of a Qi Refining cultivator’s power.

In crucial moments, this amount was certainly sufficient.

“I’m quite curious. You’ve been following me around, not buying anything. What’s the point? Are you just going to be a shadow?”

Hearing this, Long Lingyu countered with a question. “No, aren’t we heading in the same direction anyway?”

Indeed, he and Bai Lan were now practically neighbors.

“You… ugh! Fine. Follow me if you wish. I don’t care. Whatever your intentions, they are useless against me,” Bai Lan declared confidently.

However, just as they prepared to enter the Sky Pride Pavilion, Long Lingyu suddenly made his move.

“Hey, Miss Bai!” Long Lingyu called out to Bai Lan.

Bai Lan, feeling a surge of irritation, was about to turn and ask what he wanted now.

But in that instant, the man abruptly grabbed her hand, pushing her against the wall beside the entrance before she could even react.

Long Lingyu’s sudden action left Bai Lan stunned for a moment.

By the time she came to her senses and tried to shake off his hand, Long Lingyu had already braced one hand against the wall, his entire body pressed intimately close to hers.

To any onlookers, this scene undoubtedly resembled a young master shamelessly flirting with an innocent woman.

“Eh?” Bai Lan was utterly bewildered by his abruptness.

‘What is happening?’ Bai Lan thought to herself.

She felt as if this scene was eerily similar to a domineering CEO confessing his feelings to a beloved woman in a drama from her previous life.

If this had been the old Bai Lan, her first instinct would have been to strike him.

Yet, her current first reaction wasn’t to hit him, but to ponder what exactly this man intended.

“You… what do you want to do?” Bai Lan asked, a flicker of apprehension in her heart as she gazed at the smiling man before her.

“What do I want to do? What else does a man do when he constantly pursues a woman? Miss Bai, I’ll be frank. I fell in love with you at first sight. I’ve taken a liking to you. Be my woman,” Long Lingyu stated with utmost seriousness, his smile vanishing.

It truly was a confession scene straight out of a drama.

However, upon hearing his words, Bai Lan’s expression instantly darkened.

She had never imagined such a thing would happen to her, let alone someone trying such a domineering CEO stunt on her.

Bai Lan’s lips twitched.

She was about to erupt in anger when she suddenly caught a glimpse of playful mockery in his eyes.

Clearly, this man was deliberately trying to provoke her.

Just then, murmurs erupted from around them.

“Hey, isn’t that Bai Lan and Long Lingyu? What are they doing?” a trial participant exclaimed, having spotted the duo.

“Doing what? Are they being intimate? Are they… an item? No way, I just saw them fighting in the martial arena yesterday.”

“Was that really a fight? It was more like a sparring match, a way to deepen their connection. Could they be a couple?”

The trial participants outside the Sky Pride Pavilion gossiped, speculating endlessly about Bai Lan and Long Lingyu’s relationship.

These comments, reaching Bai Lan’s ears, instantly filled her with acute embarrassment.

Bai Lan’s face gradually flushed crimson, overcome by shame.

“Get lost!” Unable to bear it any longer, Bai Lan shoved him away directly, then swiftly entered the Sky Pride Pavilion, disappearing from the trial participants’ gazes.

Seeing Bai Lan push him away and flee, Long Lingyu’s peculiar smile grew even brighter.

He exuded an air of someone playing a game, seemingly quite pleased with Bai Lan’s reaction.

Hadn’t he said before that he wanted to ‘melt’ Bai Lan?

It seemed he was truly serious about it.

Returning to her abode, Bai Lan felt inexplicably angry.

‘Damn that hateful man! He must have done that on purpose, just to make me look bad. If only I could use my powers within Yellow Sand City, I would definitely kill him!’ Bai Lan fumed, her anger uncontainable.

Even her earrings couldn’t suppress her fury.

However, after her outburst, she quickly calmed down, settling into a state of deep contemplation.

And so, another day passed in Bai Lan’s cultivation.

The next day, Bai Lan, Long Lingyu, and Kong Xiu prepared to meet with the other three at their pre-arranged location.

As for yesterday’s incident, Bai Lan had already completely forgotten about it.

“It’s you?” The three individuals Kong Xiu had found immediately froze upon seeing Bai Lan.

These three were the same people who had entered the ancient ruin previously, from whom Bai Lan had snatched a treasure.

However, Bai Lan didn’t recognize any of them, as she wasn’t in the habit of remembering unfamiliar faces.

“You know me?” Bai Lan asked, a little surprised.

“Know you? Of course, we know you! Last time, it was you, Miss, who single-handedly snatched the Foundation Establishment demonic beast’s reward from dozens of us!” one of the men said, sounding rather disheartened.

With his explanation, Bai Lan understood.

“Oh, so that’s how it is,” Bai Lan muttered, feeling a slight awkwardness.

Noticing the suddenly tense atmosphere, Kong Xiu quickly intervened to smooth things over.

“Alright, alright. Treasure hunting in the secret realm is all about individual ability. If you couldn’t beat Miss Bai, it just means your skills weren’t up to par. You can’t blame anyone else,” Kong Xiu stated.

At Kong Xiu’s words, the three offered an awkward laugh, no longer dwelling on the previous incident.

These three consisted of two women and one man: Zhang Zhi, Ye Chong, and a woman named Xia Mi.

They were all friends Kong Xiu had made in the Void Heaven Realm.

Xue Yue also knew quite a few people, but unfortunately, Bai Lan couldn’t seek them out, at least not yet.

“Since everyone is here, let’s depart,” Bai Lan declared.

Long Lingyu nodded, and together they left Yellow Sand City.

However, as they exited the city, two figures appeared in the shadows.

Upon closer inspection, it was Hunmei.

Hunmei watched Bai Lan and her companions leave the city, then glanced behind her.

A black-robed individual stood there.

“Brother, that woman in white clothes, she sealed my power. You must help me!” Hunmei said, pointing at Bai Lan’s retreating back.

The black-robed figure beside Hunmei immediately showed a strange smile.

“Tsk, tsk, tsk, a beauty! I like it. Little sister, you’ve found a suitable woman for your brother,” the black-robed figure said, removing his cloak to reveal a black-haired, purple-eyed young man.

This youth exuded an air of wickedness, giving off an impression of impropriety.

This individual was Hun Li, one of the Soul Clan’s young masters and Hunmei’s elder brother.

He had originally been on the third level but had come to the first level after receiving his sister’s plea for help, intending to retaliate against Bai Lan.

However, the moment he saw Bai Lan, he immediately took a liking to her, which greatly displeased Hunmei.

“Brother, I came here to find a way for her to unseal my power, not for you to find a woman!” Hunmei retorted angrily.

“Is there a connection between the two?” Hun Li countered.

“You…?” Hunmei nearly choked on her words.

Seeing his sister about to get angry, Hun Li immediately did a complete 180-degree shift in attitude.

“Ahem, alright, alright, I was just joking, don’t be angry. Come on, let’s follow them,” Hun Li chuckled mischievously.

Hunmei snorted coldly, and then the siblings also left the city.

Ever since Bai Lan arrived in Yellow Sand City, Hunmei had been secretly keeping an eye on her.
