A dense throng of people surged from every direction.
Lan Ruobing, with no path of retreat, had no choice but to activate her magical energy.
She had originally intended to save this trump card for the Ability College Entrance Exam.
However, if these scoundrels were to take advantage of the chaos to grope her, not only would she be covered in goosebumps, but she might even end up trending on social media.
Headlines would scream: “Shocking! A Beautiful Ability User at Xiaoyue Middle School Pounced Upon by Nearly a Thousand Rabid Fans!”
With such words circulating, her lifelong reputation could be utterly ruined.
Pale blue streams of light ignited in her eyes, and the very ground beneath her feet began to tremble as a colossal force surged upward.
Roar!
A dragon’s roar exploded like thunder.
A massive dragon head seemed to erupt from beneath the earth, pushing upward with immense power, directly lifting her into the air.
In the blink of an eye, she was propelled skyward with effortless grace.
The charging crowd halted in their tracks, fear etched on their faces as they stared at the unfolding spectacle.
The deep blue dragon head rose, roaring majestically, its sky-blue eyes surveying all beneath it with an air of indomitable authority, looking down upon the ant-like figures below.
Then, with another powerful leap, it soared towards the firmament above them, revealing its enormous body that had been hidden beneath the ground.
Its colossal, elongated form, like a train, streaked past their eyes.
Its back shimmered in brilliant deep blue, its belly a lighter shade of blue, and its entire body appeared translucent—clearly a water dragon.
It seemed to stretch endlessly, rising vertically, piercing the very clouds.
The dragon’s majestic roar reverberated through everyone’s souls, and its immense, boundless form oppressed every heart.
Those in the front ranks nearly collapsed, as if suffocating.
Those further back found their legs trembling, almost buckling to their knees.
The volunteer girl shielded her head with both hands, her eyes tightly shut in fear.
She slowly opened them only when the sounds of footsteps faded from her ears.
The area before her was now empty.
She let out a soft sigh of relief and deactivated the protective shield around her.
When the crowd had surged forward, she had immediately used her ability, activating a protective barrier that encased her entire body.
She had expected people to crash into her, yet to her surprise, everyone perfectly avoided her, rushing straight past to whatever lay behind.
It had left her on edge for quite some time.
Shaking her head helplessly, she was about to leave when something suddenly occurred to her.
‘Huh?’
‘Where’s that little girl?’
‘Oh no!’
A jolt of alarm went through her.
She quickly turned around, only to see hundreds of people clustered ahead, a dense, dark mass, with no sign of the girl.
The armed police, gripping their black batons, the civil police with their stun guns, and a host of security guards were struggling to disperse the crowd.
The situation was tense and chaotic.
She quickly pulled out her walkie-talkie and spoke urgently: “Central, Central, respond if you hear me. Over!”
“Central hears you, 003, please respond. Over!”
“Chaos at Xiaoyue Middle School, in urgent need of guard team reinforcement—”
Roar!
A dragon’s roar thundered, sweeping across the area with a deafening, bone-shaking force.
The volunteer girl flinched violently, nearly dropping her walkie-talkie.
“What’s wrong, 003?! Respond if you hear me!” The voice from Central suddenly grew anxious upon hearing the dragon’s roar.
Her head buzzed.
She didn’t answer, enduring the discomfort as she widened her eyes and gazed forward, filled with worry.
The dragon’s roar was terrifying, intensifying her concern for the girl.
Today was Awakening Day, and there were only a few unregistered Awakeners.
She had completely forgotten about the girl; if anything happened, she would be solely responsible.
However, when she saw the colossal, elongated dragon body rise from the crowd and shoot into the sky, she froze on the spot.
‘A divine dragon…’
‘How is that possible…’
Before she could ponder further, she saw Lan Ruobing standing atop the dragon’s head, leaving her utterly dumbfounded.
‘Someone is riding a divine dragon…’
‘It’s that little girl…’
Her mind felt rusty, unable to process anything.
“What’s wrong, 003! Respond if you hear me! 003, respond if you hear me! 003!” The voice from the walkie-talkie kept ringing.
The volunteer girl suddenly snapped back to reality.
She shook her head fiercely, then rubbed her eyes, finally fixing her gaze on the divine dragon.
The dragon’s body was transparent.
“Phew~”
She let out a long sigh and patted her chest.
‘Goodness, that scared me to death. I truly thought a divine dragon had appeared.’
‘If something like this truly emerged, the entire nation would be shocked.’
‘The last time one appeared was two thousand years ago. Sadly, the ancients were ignorant, mistaking it for a demonic entity, and a Celestial Master, practicing the Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms, killed it.’
‘Little did they know, all demons are just transformed humans…’
“A candidate can condense a water dragon with magical energy. The scene is somewhat chaotic. When will the guard team arrive? Over!”
“Central hears you! The guard team has already departed and is expected to arrive in three minutes. Over!”
“Phew!” She breathed a sigh of relief, looking up at Lan Ruobing’s heroic figure riding the dragon, her eyes filled with envy.
Given how lifelike the water dragon was, the girl’s talent was evident.
Her future prospects were limitless.
Roar!
Another deafening dragon’s roar erupted, as if the entire firmament was trembling.
