Guard Squad

Chapter 10667 words6 min read

After reveling in her pleasant sensation for a moment, Lan Ruobing opened her eyes.

She saw three women staring at her, their lips twitching.

Her pupils slightly dilated.

She casually lowered her small hands, folding them together, then offered an awkward smile.

Silently, she shifted her gaze elsewhere.

‘How well-behaved,’ she thought.

Sensing the trio’s continued gaze, her face flushed hot.

She lowered her head, silently fixating on her toes.

A blush spread across her cheeks.

‘How utterly embarrassing,’ she mused.

She recognized the three women as members of the Dawnmoon District’s Guard Squad, frequently featured on television screens.

The Guard Squad served as Huaxia’s security force, operating at four distinct levels: district, city, provincial, and national.

These elite units were sparsely distributed across the country, primarily tasked with resolving high-risk crimes and repelling beast incursions.

Each member was the cream of the crop, possessing formidable individual combat prowess.

Their teamwork, moreover, was flawlessly coordinated.

The tall woman in the center, with golden hair and emerald eyes, wielded a blue and white long spear in her right hand.

Her form-fitting blue and white combat suit, adorned with metallic-looking armor plating, marked her as their captain.

The volunteer girl, clearly still startled, clung to the captain’s waist, letting out a loud cry.

As a child, Lan Ruobing had once yearned to join the Guard Squad, dreaming of becoming a national captain.

Her parents, delighted by her ambition, showered her with snacks and encouraged her to pursue her dreams diligently.

However, she never awakened her supernatural ability before their car accident and subsequent disappearance.

For six years after the tragedy, her ability remained dormant.

She lived each day in quiet solitude, and the dream of the Guard Squad had long faded from her memory.

Now, encountering the Guard Squad under such mortifying circumstances, her emotions felt incredibly subtle.

Her face grew even hotter.

Seeing Lan Ruobing with her head bowed, so well-behaved and flushed like an apple, the golden-haired, emerald-eyed captain and her teammates couldn’t help but exchange amused glances.

Moments earlier, as the giant dragon descended, people had scattered in panic, clutching their heads.

Only the three of them had watched silently.

Amidst the chaos, maintaining order was impossible.

Besides, they didn’t believe any ability user would dare cause trouble during the Ability College Entrance Exam.

Even if someone did, they were confident they could subdue the girl before the dragon touched down.

As expected, Lan Ruobing recalled the dragon just before landing, gracefully descending on a stream of water.

Regrettably, some timid individuals in the crowd, having miscalculated the landing time, shrieked loudly, startling others into joining the chorus of screams.

Fear rapidly spread, culminating in the entire crowd wailing in terror.

The sight had utterly astonished the Guard Squad members.

Even more astonishing was Lan Ruobing’s blissful, closed-eyed expression after landing, which completely overturned their perceptions.

Had they not spoken with the volunteer girl earlier, they would have undoubtedly perceived Lan Ruobing as a malicious individual.

Now, they simply found the girl incredibly fascinating.

With her striking features and unique personality, she was adorable, shyly behaving like a rabbit.

“Where’s the dragon?” the volunteer girl whispered to the golden-haired captain, recovering from her panic.

Though soft, her voice was exceptionally clear, instantly drawing everyone’s attention.

People, snapping out of their daze, looked around.

Once assured of their safety, they casually dispersed, silently agreeing not to mention their earlier cries of despair.

“There was no dragon,” the golden-haired captain stated expressionlessly, her gaze fixed on the girl’s hands clasped around her slender waist.

“Phew, thank goodness! I thought I was going to be crushed by a dragon.”

The volunteer girl let out a long sigh of relief, then noticed the captain’s lingering stare.

“Ah, hahaha, that really gave me a fright just now,” she chuckled awkwardly, voluntarily releasing her grip.

The golden-haired captain offered no reply.

The volunteer girl glanced around, feeling a bit awkward, until her eyes lit up as she spotted Lan Ruobing.
