The Warrior Instructor’s Revelation

Chapter 96 • 1,138 words • 10 min read

After everyone had completed their daily eight hours of maximum experience gain, they dispersed to attend to their own affairs. Ye Jue also had matters to attend to, so he took Lin Shenyue to Chris, who was currently learning skills at the Warrior Guild, before departing.

Upon seeing Lin Shenyue arrive, Chris offered a slight smile before immediately returning to her martial arts training.

The Warrior Instructor, noticing Chris’s demeanor towards Lin Shenyue, grew curious. Moreover, he happened to find Lin Shenyue intriguing himself, given her high initial favorability. Thus, he approached them directly.

Lin Shenyue was still watching Chris practice her martial arts when she heard the Warrior Instructor speak.

“You are Yue’er, aren’t you?” he inquired. “Chris has mentioned you. You appear to be a Cleric.”

Lin Shenyue nodded. “Yes, I am.”

The Warrior Instructor gazed intently at her, a profound sense that a tremendous power resided within her. This power, he sensed, was not solely composed of light. His expression grew serious.

“No, that’s not right,” he said, his voice grave. “You are not a Cleric.”

Lin Shenyue looked at him, puzzled. “But I am a Cleric. So far, I only know ‘Heal,’ ‘Cure,’ ‘Purify,’ and ‘Holy Barrier.'”

The Warrior Instructor’s expression subtly shifted. With his discerning eye, he could tell that Lin Shenyue was only just past level 10, not yet having reached level 15, the prerequisite for learning ‘Purify.’

Wait, the Warrior Instructor’s gaze sharpened. She didn’t even possess ‘Holy Bolt,’ a skill every entry-level Cleric knew? How could this be? ‘Holy Bolt’ was the most fundamental Cleric skill, learnable by any who chose the path.

Ultimately, the Warrior Instructor spoke with hesitation. “Would you permit me to examine your condition?”

Lin Shenyue did not understand his intentions, yet she was equally eager to unravel the mystery of her profession being displayed as three question marks. Therefore, she nodded in agreement.

The Warrior Instructor stepped forward, placing a hand on Lin Shenyue’s shoulder, which made her slightly uncomfortable. Lin Shenyue felt a surge of the Warrior Instructor’s battle qi enter her body through his arm.

However, in an instant, she watched as his face subtly changed before he released her.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Shenyue asked, a hint of curiosity in her voice.

The Warrior Instructor’s expression turned solemn. “I cannot discern your situation either.” As a professional instructor, the Warrior Instructor standing there was merely a clone of his true self. Thus, while his power was not exceptional, his insight was extraordinary. He never expected to encounter a situation that even he could not fathom.

The Warrior Instructor hesitated for a moment before advising, “It would be best if you did not speak of your situation to anyone else.” Though he could not fully comprehend the power within Lin Shenyue, he recognized her terrifying potential. If such potential were to be discovered by humanity’s hostile forces, it could lead to dire consequences.

In Divine Realm, NPCs were not entirely detached from player affairs. They possessed their own active consciousness, and if they perceived a player as a threat, they would proactively intervene. This was why, in the past, simply sending a large group to swarm a Boss was ineffective. Bosses, sensing a threat, would strike first, rather than merely waiting for players to aggro them.

For instance, the Orc race, humanity’s greatest enemy, had their NPCs gather intelligence on potentially powerful human players and NPCs, then dispatch assassins. Naturally, humans also targeted Orc prodigies. This was no longer a matter of individual gains or losses, but a grand struggle for racial survival. Of course, currently, no players possessed the potential to draw the attention of the Orcs, but some talented human NPCs had already been assassinated, though players remained unaware of these incidents.

Lin Shenyue felt a pang of confusion, but seeing the Warrior Instructor’s grave gaze, she nodded involuntarily.

The Warrior Instructor’s expression held a hint of a sigh, but he understood that without pressure, these prodigies could not truly grow. This applied not only to NPCs but also to the Anomalies from another world. Moreover, the rules governing Anomalies differed from those of NPCs, preventing them from easily interfering in players’ affairs.

Chris approached after completing her training. Noticing the Warrior Instructor’s somewhat solemn expression, she asked, puzzled, “What’s wrong, Uncle Dorag?”

Dorag shook his head with a smile. “Nothing at all. Oh, right.” Dorag’s expression turned serious. Chris possessed terrifying potential, and it was highly probable that she would encounter assassination attempts even sooner than her friend.

After a moment’s thought, Dorag said, “There are some things I need to tell you.” He organized his recent thoughts and relayed them directly to both Lin Shenyue and Chris.

Lin Shenyue was momentarily stunned upon hearing this, never imagining this world could be so realistic. In the online gaming novels she had read, NPCs typically wouldn’t actively try to kill players. However, in Divine Realm, it was entirely different. While players and NPCs operated under different rules, NPCs were not prevented from interfering with player development.

After finishing his explanation, Dorag smiled. “But don’t worry too much. As long as you are within the main city, you are absolutely safe. Outside the main city, you’ll need to be careful. Of course, this doesn’t refer to now, but to the future.”

Chris clenched her fist, declaring fiercely, “If they dare to come, I’ll make sure they never return.”

Dorag chuckled. “I believe you. That’s enough training for today. Haste makes waste, so I hope you go back and review today’s content thoroughly.” Although Chris was only learning martial arts from him, her talent had greatly astonished him. He had already decided to have his main body come and take Chris as a disciple.

Chris respectfully replied, “Yes, Master.” Though Dorag hadn’t explicitly said it, Chris understood that Dorag was already her master. Not only had Dorag taught her martial arts, but he had even given her a high-grade cultivation technique. Merely teaching would not have necessitated imparting such a technique.

Dorag nodded, then looked at Lin Shenyue, pondering for a moment. “If you truly wish to understand your situation, you can come find me in the Imperial City once you reach a certain level of strength.” Limited by the power of his current clone, he couldn’t fully detect her condition. However, his main body should be able to discern more.

Lin Shenyue felt a sense of bewilderment. The Imperial City? The game’s official channels had not mentioned this city, and it had not yet been opened in the game. Thus, Lin Shenyue knew nothing about it.

Seeing Lin Shenyue’s bewildered expression, Dorag chuckled. “The Imperial City will open once your levels reach a certain point. You’ll naturally know how to get there then.”

Lin Shenyue nodded, indicating her understanding.
