“Mylian, you must remember, a man’s words are the devil’s lies.”
“But Mama, did Papa trick you into marrying him?”
As a child, Mylian had innocently questioned her mother’s warning.
Her parents had simply exchanged a knowing smile, offering no answer.
Now, Mylian truly understood the weight of those words.
He actually fell in love with me at first sight?
Mylian was momentarily speechless, staring at Stella in disguise.
She had never imagined receiving a confession in a restaurant, especially from a young master she had just met!
“Ugh… don’t tease me! How can you be so frivolous?”
Mylian stood up in a fit of pique, hoping the gesture would strengthen her accusatory tone, but it only made her flushed face even more apparent to Stella.
Her rosy cheeks glowed under the lamplight, and her long silver hair cascaded down to her waist. Mylian was a natural beauty, and her current indignant pout made her look even more captivating.
Stella, while inwardly marveling at her sister’s beautiful display of anger, adopted a thoughtful expression behind her mask.
“I’m not joking, Miss.”
Stella looked up, meeting Mylian’s gaze. Shielded by goggles and a mask, Mylian found it even harder to decipher this young master’s true intentions.
This person is confessing without any rhyme or reason!
What makes him think I’d accept? Does he believe I’m an idiot, frozen senseless, just because he treated me to a meal?
No, this guy is definitely after my body. What ‘love at first sight’? It’s clearly lust at first glance! These nobles are truly something! One face in public, another in private!
Mylian’s conviction grew stronger. Slowly, she sat back down, an expression as cold as an iceberg etched across her face.
Stella could easily guess her sister’s thoughts. She wanted to leave the impression of a mere passerby in Mylian’s mind, so there needed to be a balance of both good and bad interactions.
“If you don’t speak, I’ll take that as your tacit acceptance.”
“I absolutely will not accept your confession. Give up.”
Mylian rejected him unequivocally, her violet eyes fixed on the black-clad figure’s goggles as if trying to pierce right through the disguise.
My sister isn’t some naive female lead. Entering her world will require a bit of an opportunity, so I’ll take my time.
Stella felt that she had garnered enough ‘passerby’ favor for the day. She glanced at the clock nearby; it was time to retreat.
“If that is your answer, Miss… Well, it’s getting late. We shall meet again.”
Stella stood and bowed courteously to Mylian, which only solidified Mylian’s suspicions.
So, he’s finally lost interest in me? I knew he wasn’t some good noble. He’s probably about to kick me out.
Mylian waited for ‘Della’ to explode in anger, but instead, he walked to the front desk and asked the waiter for a set of room keys.
“Catch.”
“Huh?”
Mylian looked down at the key in her hand: Room 312, a luxurious room reserved for nobles.
A room? So he couldn’t hold back after all! The despicable noble, speaking such sweet words! What does he expect me to repay him with besides my body?
Mylian once again completely misunderstood Stella’s intentions.
“Then, I’ll see you tomorrow morning, Miss. I hope by then you’ll be willing to tell me your name.”
Stella ignored Mylian’s guarded expression, opened the door, and stepped out into the wind and snow, her retreating figure bearing no trace of cunning or calculation.
Della just left? He booked the room for me?
Mylian was suddenly overcome with a sense of shame. Not only were all her suspicions about Young Master Della incorrect, but she had also made a fool of herself. Recalling her reactions now, she felt rather awkward.
The waiter suddenly approached, bowing slightly to Mylian, who was deep in thought.
“Young Master Della left a message for you, Miss.”
“Oh? Tell me.”
“He said: ‘Good night. I look forward to your even more wonderful expression tomorrow.'”
“He looks forward to nothing!”
Mylian repeatedly slammed the table in embarrassment, but she found herself unable to forget this peculiar Young Master Della.
My sister is a smart person; she’ll choose to stay the night. But she probably won’t wait for me tomorrow.
Stella walked along the roadside, piecing together the plot. She knew her sister’s personality couldn’t be easily won over; time was essential.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
The biting cold wind whipped at her trench coat, and frost crystallized on her goggles. Even her magical treasures struggled against the frigid air.
Stella paused occasionally, wondering how long it would take for her sister’s frostbitten heart to recover if she had abandoned her back then.
Thump-thump—thump-thump.
Horse hooves clattered on the ice and snow from behind. Stella followed destiny’s guidance, turning to see a crystal-blue carriage, seemingly impervious to the wind and snow, just as her coat had been for her sister.
Thud.
The moment the carriage door opened, Stella saw a girl in a white-gold gown seated inside. Her beige hair cascaded softly, emitting a fragrant scent, and her golden eyes blinked with a hint of concern.
“Are you in trouble? Why are you walking alone on the street at this hour?”
The girl’s words seemed to carry an ethereal halo, and Stella knew it was an illusion created by her magical adornments. Yet, she still found the girl before her incredibly gentle.
This was Saintess Eveming, the Saintess dispatched by the Sochi Holy Kingdom to visit the Candace family. Her prestige in her own country was as renowned as her Heavenly Healing magic, which could cure all ailments.
Is it really necessary to show concern just because she passed by and saw me alone? She truly is full of curiosity and compassion.
Stella experienced the feeling of meeting the Saintess for the first time. She understood why her sister had been won over by her in the original game.
“I’m not in trouble. Thank you for your concern, Saintess.”
Stella bowed slightly in thanks, but upon hearing the word “Saintess,” Eveming’s expression turned flustered.
“You… how do you know me?!”
“From your distinctive appearance, you are quite recognizable. Besides, recent rumors mentioned the Saintess would be visiting.”
Stella spoke, stroking her chin—a gesture that filled Eveming with dread.
Oh no! He really knows me!
I snuck out to play until late at night; he wouldn’t report me to the Pope, would he?
Heavens, I don’t want my annual visit to turn into a change of scenery for listening to holy sermons!
Eveming maintained a strained smile on the surface, but inwardly, she regretted calling out to the young man on the roadside. Now, as a noble, he would probably mention his lucky encounter with the Saintess at some banquet to the Pope, and the Pope would surely punish her for it!
What is she panicking about?
Stella noticed Eveming’s expression suggested she had something to say but was holding it back. Seizing the opportunity, she asked, “Does the Saintess have a request?”
“Uh, ahem! Since you already know my whereabouts, you wouldn’t easily reveal them to others, would you?”
“Oh? The Saintess wishes for me to keep it a secret?”
“Yes! Will you promise me?”
Eveming’s eyes widened, shining with a pleading light.
Such a pure expression, just like her kindness.
Stella smiled, then nodded.
“It’s a small matter. I will naturally keep the Saintess’s secret.”
“That’s wonderful!” Eveming suddenly stepped down from the carriage and clasped Stella’s hands tightly. “I won’t forget you, young man.”
“Then I hope the Saintess will keep me in her thoughts.”
Stella looked at Eveming, finally feeling a sense of certainty.
I saved my sister, and I met the Saintess. As long as these two don’t meet each other tonight, my fate can be changed.
