Special Training

Chapter 171,334 words12 min read

The city at night, while not as boisterous as during the day, was far from quiet.

Myriad colorful lights stitched the edges of the dark, painting an atmosphere so vibrant it surpassed even the daytime’s bustle.

Children romped and played in the park.

Lovers exchanged glances on park benches.

And streams of cars, like endless dragons, wove through the city’s towering buildings.

All these scenes reflected in a pair of crimson eyes.

She blinked, gathering the entire panorama, then raised a can and poured its contents into her mouth.

“Gulp, gulp, ah~”

Chen Zeyu, dressed in white pajamas, squinted slightly.

Then, her brows relaxed in satisfaction as she let out a long sigh.

“Hiccup~”

Following the small sound, Chen Zeyu turned and walked into the room, leisurely closing the balcony door.

“Was there anything special outside?” Evetti Flann, also in white pajamas, asked from the sofa.

She flipped through the grimoire in her hands, her gaze never leaving the pages.

“I wanted to see the city from up high. My old rental place had a terrible view; I could only see the dilapidated urban village,” Chen Zeyu replied, settling onto the sofa.

She glanced towards the contents of Evetti Flann’s grimoire.

The yellowed pages were covered in strange, ancient symbols, even the ‘numbers’ at the bottom were peculiar glyphs.

“Can you understand it?” Evetti Flann turned her face to ask Chen Zeyu.

“Hmm… perhaps,” Chen Zeyu mused, setting down the empty can.

She stroked her chin, appearing to be on the verge of an epiphany.

“You clearly don’t understand, do you? I have something to tell you. It’s about you.”

Evetti Flann closed the grimoire, her expression turning slightly serious.

Seeing Evetti Flann’s solemn demeanor, Chen Zeyu straightened her posture as well.

“Chen Zeyu, since you are now one of us, a witch, you must return to the village.”

“There, we will register you, record your name, and thoroughly examine your magic and talent.”

“Even if I was originally human? There won’t be any rejection?” Chen Zeyu asked, a hint of worry in her voice.

“Indeed, there will certainly be some objections. After all, your unique characteristics have some connection to the Arch-Witch Latisha.”

“Latisha… I think I’ve seen her, in the initial interface of the Dawn’s Prayer game.”

Chen Zeyu clearly remembered that the catalyst for her awakening was the white flower given by that woman in the illusion.

“That time, the company also experienced an anomaly.”

“However, the source of your magic is ultimately yourself. It might have been the effect of my potion and the Silver Time spell that caused you to accidentally break the seal within your body, allowing you to awaken smoothly.”

“Ah, well, thank you then. What do you plan to do about the village?” Chen Zeyu steered the conversation back to the original topic.

“As for what to do, of course, we face the challenge head-on.”

“I’ve already contacted my mother; she’ll make arrangements in the village beforehand. I’ll also have your back.”

Evetti Flann lifted her chin, a confident expression on her face as if everything was under control.

“Is your mother very influential?” Chen Zeyu asked curiously.

“She’s the Witch Village Chief now, constantly traveling between the witch and human worlds. The last company meeting, I attended in her place.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Zeyu couldn’t help but wonder about the timing of the witches’ appearance, especially since a company built by witches was hidden in mid-air above the city.

“When did witches appear in the city?”

“Let me think, perhaps over a hundred years ago?”

“For the exact time, it’s best to ask Senior Tei Lai. They were the pioneers and witnesses who opened the path between the two worlds.”

“Oh, and what about wizards?” Chen Zeyu pondered, looking down.

The thought that she still had a wizard’s seal on her left her feeling perplexed.

“That, I don’t know. Wizards and us are mortal enemies, after all. Who knows how they ended up in this world, and even took pity on you.”

Evetti Flann glanced at Chen Zeyu’s eyes, then suddenly slapped her thigh as if remembering something crucial.

“Oh! I almost forgot!”

“Forgot what?” Chen Zeyu looked up, unsure why Evetti Flann was so excited.

“You need to learn some basic skills, at least some fundamental magic.”

“We can’t let the villagers laugh at you! It’s best to learn a lot to shut them up.”

Evetti Flann rubbed her hands together, then scurried into the room.

She returned, carrying a mountain of grimoires, which she promptly spread across the small coffee table in the living room.

“This… so many?” Chen Zeyu’s eyes widened in disbelief.

When did her home acquire a library?

“Not many, just twenty or so books.”

“Even if you don’t master them in a month, with me, learning them thoroughly will be no problem at all.”

Evetti Flann pulled out a grimoire and presented it to Chen Zeyu.

“What type is this?” Chen Zeyu looked at Evetti Flann.

“It’s for controlling telekinetic magic, including moving small objects, self-flight, and close-range micro-control. This is the most practical and useful for you.”

Evetti Flann finished speaking and opened the first page for Chen Zeyu.

The even more yellowed page contained only a single short line of text.

“Uh… hmm?” Chen Zeyu looked utterly bewildered, clearly having no idea how to pronounce the spell.

“This reads as[Flight]. Try to read it after me.”

Evetti Flann’s voice became peculiar when she said the two words, feeling somewhat light and indistinct.

“[Fei… xing], [Fly… ing?]”

Chen Zeyu mimicked Evetti Flann’s tone.

In that very instant, Chen Zeyu didn’t fly, but something on Evetti Flann’s body did begin to float.

Her smooth, healthy-colored belly, with its snow-white contours, showed no excess fat, and her cute navel was small, like an angel’s mark.

Indeed, Evetti Flann’s pajamas had been lifted halfway, and if not for the buttons holding them at her chest, she would have been exposed right there.

“Ah! What are you doing!”

The grimoire slipped from Evetti Flann’s hands, and she quickly pressed her hands to her clothes to cover herself.

“I’m sorry!” Chen Zeyu quickly lowered her head.

She hadn’t paid any attention to the target of the spell, only to Evetti Flann.

“You fiend! Why did you target my clothes!”

Evetti Flann glared furiously at Chen Zeyu, who covered her eyes with both hands, shaking her head like a rattle-drum, completely at a loss.

“I don’t know! I wasn’t thinking of targeting anyone!”

“Hmph! Not knowing means knowing! You genuinely wanted to lift my clothes, didn’t you! Your lecherous heart is incorrigible!”

Evetti Flann was somewhat embarrassed and annoyed.

She bent down to pick up the grimoire, then stomped towards the balcony in a huff.

‘Oh no, I’ve made Evetti Flann angry.’

Chen Zeyu secretly blamed herself, but then Evetti Flann called out to her.

“Chen Zeyu, come here!”

“Ah, yes, yes!”

Chen Zeyu quickly got up and stood behind Evetti Flann, her head bowed like a child who had misbehaved.

“You will practice this flight spell out here tonight! You’re not allowed back down until you’ve flown for a full hour!”

Evetti Flann issued a stern command, pointing towards the night sky.

“Ah? What if I fall…?” Chen Zeyu shivered inwardly, her body involuntarily retreating.

“Less talk! Fly!”

Evetti Flann saw Chen Zeyu’s intention to retreat.

She simply raised her hand and silently used telekinetic magic to control Chen Zeyu, tossing her out onto the balcony like a small chick!

“Whoa!” Chen Zeyu struggled as she floated into the air, with no chance of returning to the balcony.

“I’m letting go. I hope you don’t become the first witch in history to fall to her death.”

Evetti Flann’s expression was cold, her attitude seemingly indifferent to what would happen next.

“No!”

Chen Zeyu had barely shouted before her body began to plummet under gravity.

Thus began the first night of Evetti Flann’s special training for the newly awakened witch, Chen Zeyu.
